Yeah man I agree, it’s good when a customer chooses the best option not the cheapest option. This customer did not hesitate. She just asked me, what do I recommend and went with my recommendation. So good.
Hello Mitch Yeah it’s an older unit, for a P8 fault I’ve had two of those, and on both occasions I called Mitsubishi and they said that PCB’s are no longer available. Good call from the homeowner to replace the system. Great video!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Good one Mitch, by the sounds of it youve got the ServiceME app aka the mitsi electric app - a handy tool for fault finding. At the end of the day theres no point flogging a dead horse, put a new one in and everyones happy.
I actually don’t have that app so thanks for the recommendation, I’ll download that straight away. I think I’m a bit old school in that I like to fix everything however in this case I agree with you, it’s better to put in a new inverter system and everyone’s happy.

I remember being around these older Mr. Slim units at my primary school and remember when I used to talk to the technicians and ask 'What's wrong?' Those units suffered from compressor failures and gas leaks if I remember correctly! One time I remember one of the indoor cassette units kept running, even though the thermostat was off, I also heard a couple of them defrost!
I'm not familiar with the Mr slim units, but are those not full inverter systems? You seemed to be able to just hard wire both the fan and compressor to line power and they ran. On a normal unit I don't believe that is possible.
Did you happen to check the glass 240v fuse on the board? I’ve had those blown before. Regardless replacing that unit with the leak may have been your best option.
Yeah there was correct voltage both sides of the fuse. I also checked that the fuse had continuity. All good. I agree, I think it’s time to replace the whole unit.
Awesome content Mitch! I really enjoy watching all your videos. I have a question, I live in Tasmania with a house that is 150m square, I have ample roof space, what ducted unit would you suggest I install?
Depends on the height of the ceilings but let’s just say they’re 2.7m and the 150m2 includes wet area’s and hallways which you wouldn’t need to serve then let’s say a 20kW unit would be perfect. You could definitely go smaller but without seeing it, I don’t want to lead you into issues. If you don’t have 3 phase, then a 16kW system with zones would be the go. Preferably smart zones that can fluctuate based on temperature.
I’m personally very passionate about using and supporting Australian products so I use Actron boards supplied by Regulators Australia. Definitely more expensive than Hanwest but I prefer quality over price. Cheers mate

Board is dead you would have had lights on the board.
