    For lip balms, especially the potted ones, I like using them as cuticle cream in winter.

    I uses the Kaleidos Lip Clays as stains. I blot of my lip balm on my hand, then apply a small amount of the lip clay, rub it into my lips, then apply a gloss or balm over top. It's the best way to get some colour that doesn't slip around while also not being drying.

    I have a memory box for makeup. I am selective about what goes in but it allows me to move the sentimental makeup that I don’t want to use out of my inventory.

    I personally adore my blushes, thing is I keep them with my eyeshadows and use them interchangeably as well as using both my blush and eyeshadow as eyeliner in addition to my felt tips. She's a multi-use girl :)

    Could you move some makeup items into a 'museum' category and place them in a different drawer? Items that you love and want to look at and want to keep but not actually use or count in your inventory?

    I am going to use up as many sunscreens as I can this year without purchasing any as I have 8 sunscreens in my stash and I am currently using up 3 others on my face. They are from various countries including South Korea, U.S., and Australia. Some expire as early as this June and some expire in a year or two. I decluttered all matte lipsticks in 2024 as I really disliked how they looked and wore.

    I’ve seen a lot of inventory plus spreadsheet videos. Your Hailey has been the most clear and easy to follow one. I love the formatting and your narration and feel your pain of the struggle with makeup numbers. I just started my panning journey in earnest this year and am really enjoying the process 😊❤❤

    Every year I look forward to the declutters and the inventory videos. very interested to see the numbers at the end of this year after your project pan with a lot of makeup. My Beauty stash has exploded over the last year, I put it down to a lot of beauty boxes from the likes of cult beauty, advent calendars and just finding a big interest in trying out stuff. Always have waves of obsessions, it was nail polish then books now beauty. major low no buy this year.

    I've been using an app to track my skincare and makeup. It has a project pan function on it, too. For eye cream, I really love the Caudelie Premier Cru one, although it hurts my soul and bank balance every time I repurchase it haha

    Funny story, I told you recently in the Nabla video, that I wanted to declutter my Nabla Side by Side, because it survives every declutter and I never reach for it.... well, I told my best friend that I would send her some of my makeup because why buy makeup when I have unreasonable amounts of everything? Anyway so I was going to give her the Side by Side - girl, I went in there in the last minute took the palette out of the box and replaced it with the Colourpop Stone Cold Fox.... I have zero regrets. Why does that palette have it's hooks in me?! Why? I don't even use it.

    For makeup, I have 131 products, and for skincare, I have 53, not including sheet masks which I probably have like 30 of. I wouldn’t say my makeup is too out of hand, but I have too many mediocre skin care products that I don’t care for so I want to focus on using them up so I can get back to using my favorites.

  • @cjaneg97
    @cjaneg97 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I used to not like wash off masks until I realized I don't have to wash my face before using them. On days I don't wear makeup i just use a reusable cotton round with water to wipe my face then apply the mask, leave it on for a bit while doing something else then wash my face and apply skin care as normal.

    I wish you wouldn't give your self such a hard time about your make up products . If they give you joy that is important., Decluttering them is such a waste . Maybe think of some videos you could do with your eye shadow palettes. Such as revisiting older eye shadow palettes and recreating make up looks with them , seeing how they look now compared to years ago . I love when you show us your eye shadow palettes .

    For your makeup category, I would remove the products you don't want to get rid of, but maybe won't use from your inventory like you did with your Kaleidos products and focus on using up what is still left in your inventory afterward.

    I am down to a magnetic pallet of 12 shadows mixture of singles and depotted and 3 small pallets. This year I want to use as much of the shadows in the magnetic case as I can. The goal is to have a curated quod from mac and use and replace going forward. My problem area is my lipsticks at 18 but I worked through 6 last year hope to do the same this year ideally want to get to my perfect red, nude and brown. Everything else is one or two of a make up item open and maybe one backup. I like to pan new items from opening to see how many uses/how long it takes.

    I think that decluttering is overrated. A lot of the products can't be gifted, because it's not hygenic, i.e. lipsticks, mascaras. You should't give away super old makeup as well. So basically decluttering this old, used stuff is just throwing them away. Even if you use a palette only once a year, it's still at least one more use, rather than sitting in a landfill. So I wouldn't push myself to declutter more, if I were you, rather focus on using it up. I think wearing makeup more would improve your numbers significantly

    • @shandysawh3071
      @shandysawh3071 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think there's 2 kinds of decluttering. One is actually just plain sorting and clearing out space to make room for more, and then there's mindful decluttering designed to change mindsets and tailor your items to accurately reflect the life you want to live. I've stopped because I have regrets of giving away some LE eyeshadow palettes so yeah I agree it's a little overdone

    If all of your Kaleidos items are out of your inventory and somewhere else because you aren’t using them and don’t like some/many of them, but want to keep them in case you get more PR from Kaleidos, then you may as well just say no more PR from Kaleidos and break that relationship and then get rid of products you don’t really want. Because I now know you consider them out of your inventory, ie the actual makeup you’re using and want to use, that means I’m not going to trust any Kaleidos review you do and won’t bother watching one in the future. No shade, it’s just the logic isn’t logic-ing.

    • @HaileyO
      @HaileyO  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      With that logic I may as well never take PR from any makeup brand. I don't review PR to gush over everything and pretend that I like all formulas and colours, I review them to give my objective opinion on them, show how they apply, point out things that I do and don't like and let the viewer use the information to make their own decisions about what they will and won't purchase. Just because I don't want to wear something on a daily basis doesn't make it a bad product or my reviews untrustworthy, it just doesn't suit my current personal style that's the whole point of objective reviews.
      For example I don't wear matte liquid lipsticks on a daily basis because my skin and lips are dry from being on acne medication, that doesn't mean that I can't physically apply it, see what the colours look like, describe the formula, talk about how they wear and whether they transfer or fade and it also doesn't mean that I never wear them at all. The same goes for eyeshadows, just because I don't want to wear purple eyeshadow twice a week doesn't mean I don't like Kaleidos, never want to wear any of their purple eyeshadows or be able to review what they release in the future.

    • @pinkorchid2137
      @pinkorchid2137 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ thanks so much for your response and some points I hadn’t considered since I don’t review. I’m still not understanding the logic of taking your Kaleidos product numbers off your inventory if you still own them. It’s tricking your brain into thinking you have fewer items, when you don’t.

    • @HaileyO
      @HaileyO  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It's mostly to show a more accurate representation of what I own in terms of the things I'm actually trying to physically finish up and work through. For example if I have 20 lip products that I keep predominantly for reference/work reasons and only apply maybe once or twice a year but I also know that if it came down to it that I wouldn't pursue panning the product then it's just inflating my numbers for the wrong reasons. I track my inventory to give myself an overview of how much I have, what needs to be used up in the current year and what categories of products that I can buy without adding an unrealistic amount of items to my stash that I'll struggle to finish. I share that information in this video every year so people can see how I'm going with the progress of working on minimising my makeup. This series has been a work in progress since 2019 and every step of the way I have tried to be mindful about how I minimise and not rebound back in to what I feel were bad shopping habits for myself.
      PR has always been top of the list when it comes to decluttering, I have no emotional attachment to it, it is purely a work relationship. There are absolutely items that I love and of course things that I dislike and feel indifferent about but when a brand consistently sends me their new releases to consider for review I find it helpful to have past collections for reference if they are releasing similar format items or new shades of previously released items. I have done colour swatch comparisons with Kaleidos in the past and would also do it in the future when that is relevant.
      Another reason why I don't want to keep them in my written inventory is so I don't have to manually check through all of the items each year when I do my inventory (which takes days to complete), it is streamlining the process and showing a more accurate representation of what I'm working on.

    • @pinkorchid2137
      @pinkorchid2137 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ thanks again for your considered response. Super interesting, particularly about having no emotional attachment to it and its a work relationship - I find a challenge to declutter because once something is in the house, it’s mine and I want to keep the treasures and sit on them forever like a dragon. Luckily I’m a good project panner and don’t have a problem throwing empty packaging.
      I understand the motivation behind removing them from inventory numbers now. I love your annual inventory video and this year even followed along looking at my own inventory numbers to see where we compare and contrast. Thanks again.
