The early 2000s were a strange time to be alive. I'd binge watch this show with my friends back in college and think nothing of it. Now I look back and think to myself how did this ever even get aired lol.
Same! I grew up watching this (hella explains A L O T M8) and rly didn’t think anything of it. Now I’m like what the actual fuck was I watching and why was this allowed anywhere. Some of them still send me laughing tho. Giant hand is a classic and even tho it’s so dangerous Electric Avenue sends me just bc once my brother tased himself and once he was awake he was still super out of it and he was like “Am I gonna be on jackass?”
Same! I used to watch one movie every time before I went to bed as a kid. And Jackass was on my top 10 list lol
My parents were split, so I remember being frustrated with not being allowed to watch anything above my age limit when I was with one. But literally falling asleep to films like Jackass, Snakes on a plane, and Piranha when I was with the other lol
(I did enjoy kids movies as well, I wasn't a total psycho)

I forced my arthouse loving roommate to see the first Jackass movie, and, exactly like you, just as he started, he said "I´m gonna lose some brain cells watching this". Within a minute, he was literally doubled over with laughter, and remained that way the whole film.
It’s the only movie I’ve walked out of with a headache from laughing so much.
Haha perfect. I love high art and "film" as much as the next guy, but this show and the movies are damn funny!

As a person from a country where bullfighting still exists that particular scene wasn't as crazy as the others. He handled the bull well tbh, a little clunky though.
Red cloths just hide the blood that comes from injuries.

@manny To be honest I don't really like Jackass, it's not particularly funny to me.
tbh im not super happy with some of the treatment of animals in jackass. a lot of time they provoke wild animals who clearly only strike when threatened. other times animals are just straight up used as props and are in serious danger, like the snake pit prank. i was hoping that the animal related stuff would calm down since steve-o's a big animal rights activist now and is also a producer on jackass forever but it looks like it's just as bad if not worse :/

This show got in so much trouble b/c even though it was CLEARLY stated in the disclaimer at the beginning NOT to do ANY of this, kids still did it.
I had 3 guy friends in high school reenact a few of them for a physics project. Gotta say, funniest damn physics project I have ever witnessed. xD
Which was absolute horseshit. My friends and I were doing the same shit you see in their early episodes before during and after Jackass, and my aunts and uncles have the same stories. Kids and teens have all kinds of stupid, dangerous fun. If at 17 you'd given me a contract for a big chunk of change to stand in a ball pit with two anacondas, I'd be down. Shit, I'd probably still do it at 35

I love how Asian people react to Jackass. I live in China and showed jackass to a few of my friends. At first they are repulsed and asking questions akin to “why would they do this, it’s so stupid” but eventually…. They start to laugh and admit that it’s hilarious. Jackass is loved around the globe! Can’t wait for the new one!

This show used to be big in my household. Lol my brothers and I never missed an episode 😂😭 they’re crazy af. Not even half the crazy shit they’ve done.
Seeing Bam when he was happy and Dunn, when he was still alive is... so so sad
I’ll always have a soft spot for the guys in Jackass. They made me laugh in some really dark times.

and these ones aren't even the most extreme ones, i still remember when Bam, Ryan and Johnny stood in front of a non-lethal Anti-personnel mine blast or when steve-o chugged a beer down his rectum, me and my friends tried to recreate some of the stuff we would see in the show and got seriously injured a lot of the time but the laughs are still here with us

this was great! Jackass is automatically dismissed by most people as just stupid, but it is truly underrated. these guys are fearless and know how to entertain and be genuinely funny while doing it. it's a great show.
I'm Korean American and Jackass was a big part of my middle school and high school days... It still makes me laugh to this day and seeing your guy's reaction made it even better haha

I own a few snakes as pets and I feel sorry for the snake… the snake is extremely stressed and you can see the snake accidentally bit itself.
I own a boa and sand boa and I couldn’t imagine putting them through that much stress. It made me more stressed looking at the snake then it did Johnny’s dumb ass
Any animal on that show I feel sorry for. Both bull and the snakes must be so stressed. To be fair, I don't think the bull has it any better of camera, but feels bad to see...

Dude I went to High School with them. They are the real deal. No way they are fake. Other shows like sorry to disappoint you are fake are mostly on History Channel, the car crap, the selling crap (pawn stars)..... all proven fake. Those dudes are owners but don't even work in the store, they come into film BS.......... How the hell can you think Impractical Jokers is set up in any way possible anyway is beyond me........... I love jackass, but majority of them were on drugs to even attempt stunts like they did. Atleast for the first few movies. I don't think with the new ones because they aren't as reckless.

@@AM-cs2vz All of the guys stay sober on set for Steve-O, Bam actually got booted from Jackass 4 because he wouldn't stay sober.

Actually most of the guys were sober... They would drink as any other group of males in their early 20s but the only guys in the group that struggled with addiction are Steve-O and later Bam. The rest of the guys only drank but proved to be a big part in getting Steve-O sober now and it is known that they have done a lot to try to get Bam clean but told him with the recent film coming out that he couldn't be apart of it if he couldn't stay sober and he couldn't... Steve-O is completely sober now and STILL does this crazy $hit. The Jackass guys don't do all this stuff because they are "high"... they are adrenaline junkies and entertainers. They've lasted this long and continue to have fans/viewers so people are watching. You either find it hilarious and watch it or you don't. They are Jackasses after all
My favourite thing to do as a kid would be to make my mum sit and watch jackass with me 😂 her mixture of disgust or fear and then laughter made it so much funnier.

Out of all the jackass stunts there's one I still can't watch to this day: Johnny intentionally giving himself paper cuts between all his fingers and toes......i just have a thing about paper cuts. (Cringes)

even though a lot of what they did was questionable at best, they had a very strong bond and helped each other through a lot of things, including addiction and death. a huge part of why it’s so engaging is because you can feel their brotherhood. wildboyz was also sooo funny and much more contentious!
I wasn't allowed to watch this show when it was popular, so I was right there with them reacting for the first time. I guess I do appreciate that they only seem to prank and endanger themselves unlike the jackass pranksters on TH-cam and TikTok.

This show was so popular when I was a little girl. I remember mtv used to put warnings before the show aired because parents were worried about kids trying some of these stunts too.
That is so cruel for the snake, you could tell how stressed it was. Boas are actually really docile usually. And the bull too, cruelty for the sake of human entertainment.

They actually just did a part for shark week where they had a guy jump a thing of sharks but he fell short and actually got attacked by a shark.

“Are they trying to die?!” *Yes.* That was, essentially, the point of the show. The most painful INSANE risky stunts possible. EXTREME shock value.

They have more than 4 movies like this and many more before the Jackass series. Surprisingly no one has died all throughout the filming for 15+ years. Sadly one died because of a car accident (but not related to the movie). This year 2022 they will release a last film called Jackass Forever, to closeout one of the craziest movie series ever. And a tribute to their friend who died, Ryan Dunn. I'm happy to say this guys were a big part of my 2000s, and still is today. JACKASS FOREVER!

The fact that none of these stunts seem that crazy to me tells me volumes about myself and has allowed me to relive many fun memories that supercede these scenarios and remind me of who I am and what I've done. Who knew that a Jackass reaction video could be so therapeutic after a horrible car accident. I suppose I'm the king jackass in this scenario, but I'll gladly wear that crown with more pride than 10 people could muster because those times/activities are a treasured and defining facet of my very multi-faceted life. Multi-faceted like a diamond, a diamond in the rough, just like everyone else.
