    Hi- if this helps any, I just had a very massive pheochromocytoma removed...Right adrenal and 16.5cm...7 yrs I was diagnosed for everything under the sun...The sweating and heart palpitations were brutal...I would faint constantly and be brought to the ER...Never once in the 7 yrs was I my blood pressure high...In fact, mine was so so extremely low that they wondered how I drove to
    the ER and walked in there...def don’t remember it...They did a CT and confirmed and sent me to Mayo for the surgery...I wish you awesome Med students could help me figure out more on what is happening now that it’s been removed and began a whole new set of issues with all the newer and fresher info on rare tumors....So many bad scary things are happening that a don’t even know what to address first...Feel like my life is slowly going away because nobody is able to link certain issues with these tumors...Ugh, it’s a massive living nightmare 😔

      Hi KC Court, I was diagnosed in 2016 with a pheochromocytoma after a very troublesome pregnancy in which my bloodpressure continued to be high after giving birth, where that was not expected.
      After removal I started having new different symptoms, like joint pain everywhere, restless legs sydrome like symptoms, concentration problems. In the morning I feel stiff like a grandma and I go to bed with musclepain as if I went to the gym.
      I was curious what are your symptoms after the removal of the tumor?

    Thanks Doc. I have been dealing with severe hypertension 200+/130 and A-fib up to 250 pulse. Had an ablation, the real high BP came post ablation. Scheduled for MRA tomorrow,urine today. CT in the ER 2 days ago did not see it, they said it was not possible to use contrast. ER did not stabilize me at all.

      Unopposed alpha-adrenergic receptor stimulation can precipitate a worsening hypertensive crisis. Non-cardioselective BBs have been associated with paradoxic episodes of hypertension thought to be secondary to incomplete alpha blockade.

    As a RN who had an adrenalectomy for possible pheo I can tell you I knew back in 2006 was wrong and fidnt get a surgeon to help until 2009. Now in 2020 all those horrible symptoms ard back save a less extreme b/p issue since beginning Metatoprol XL, but oddly I'm still having rpisodes feeling like adrenalin surges, extreme flushing and nausea, migraines which sumatriptin isn't helping much, overall feeling of unwellness, nightsweats, and episodes can be triggered by bladder/bowel movements. Alot of flank pain, tender RLQ, tinnitus, my pulse thumping in my ears so loudly I can tell you my pulserate. I feel like I'm going to die. I am in Mobile Al. PLZ tell me EXACTLY what the nuclear scans are (MIBG?) Or what? My Dr wants a website w/ data and papers. 😒So sick of feeling sick. Now I have huge purpura which break and bleed. Pro times a bit slow. I have malaise now makes 90 days straight.

    Why is it called pheochromocytoma? Why not adrenoma or epinefroma or other 100 names associated with the sympatethic system.

      It arise from chromaffin cells

    • @kccourt6910
      @kccourt6910 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      pheo meaning “dark” as it makes the cells darken and chromo because it’s in the chromaffin cells..
