    TL owner. Solid vehicle. Smooth ride. Practically maintenance free.. With The right amount of luxury.. What more do you need in a car. My experience with Honda /Acura has always been top notch.

    I think I've had it with auto critics after seeing this. Either the Q50 is too sporty or too luxurious. No seriously, please make your minds up. As a potential buyer, it really confuses me as to why I shouldn't buy this car, or what makes this worse than its preceding G37. It's still got the V6, 7 speed, GT-R derived AWD, and the Infiniti looks & quality. I am just going to make the assumption that the Q50 is a G37 with slightly more luxury and tech appointed to it. There, I did it. I did what car reviewers are apparently struggling so much to say.
    They were making similar accusations against the 2013+ Altimas as compared to their predecessors. You know what? My parents have owned one for three years now and no problems at all. In fact, I think it's been our lowest-maintenance car so far. My family also owns a G37 and don't get me wrong, it's a terrific car. But to say the Q50 is as bad as critics are saying it is compared to the G is a complete exaggeration. I noticed a lot of outdated interior and exterior styles and technologies were vastly improved. I love the touch screen at the bottom too; anyone who thinks its tricky or tough to use obviously isn't even familiar with how to use their own smartphone interface.
    Don't listen to them, I'm telling you. The Q50 is still carrying the Infiniti torch proudly. Even if it isn't as revolutionary as a market entrance as the G37 was before, it's still a great car.

      Thanks bro..I own a 2010 G37 with 97,250 miles on her and she still purrs like a kitten...I just can't make the jump to spending 30 grand for a car with less horsepower and heavier with no rack and pion steering..The Q50 3.0 luxe is a pig and the red sport is $15,000 over priced..

    i have aTLX 3.5 base model, and i have to say i love. no complaints here, i understand thst infinity is just alttile higher end than my acura but to get a 3.7 q50 is about 10k more than my 3.5 and i also get better fuel efficiency. now power wise i can put my acura on sport + with my paddle shifters and OMG i have lots of fun!!!

  • @StormAutoAdventures

    Of course they're going to like the Acura infotainment system better when it's a fully loaded TLX going up against a completely base Q50 with it's only option being AWD. This Q50 doesn't even have navigation, which is one of my favorite features in my Q50! The TLX even has radar cruise control. Apples to apples guys. What the heck kind of comparison is this? I test drove a '15 TLX V6 right before testing driving my '15 Q50 3.7 Premium RWD with navigation that actually has some options, unlike this stripped down version you tested here.. IMO there was no comparison between the two. There wasn't a single thing I liked better in the TLX versus the Q50 I immediately fell in love with an hour later on my next test drive. 15 months and 30k trouble free miles later... To this day, the more I drive my Q50, the more I love it!! I could not be happier with my choice!

    15 years ago I would have said the Acura Hands down, but since those days the Acura/Honda cars have taken a nose dive in looks and aren't pulling those trophies anymore. I like the looks of the Infiniti and would easily choose that car over the TLX any day of the week. Until Honda changes up its styling again, I wont waste my time on them, especially if I am going to spend 40k plus on a car!

    • @MrGunzngirlz
      @MrGunzngirlz 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Is styling really that important? Does every car have to scream "look at me"? Interesting truth is, the styling of the Acura will age A LOT more gracefully than the Infiniti. In fact the Infiniti is already starting to look a bit dated (in my opinion).

    • @Acc0rd79
      @Acc0rd79 9 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Logan L is styling important....YES!!! are you serious? If you don't care go get a box van and drive that every day, it gets you from point A to B as either of these two cars does! Idiot comment seriously.

    • @MrGunzngirlz
      @MrGunzngirlz 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Acc0rd79 you've missed my point and blown it out of proportion.
      Is styling more important than engineering quality, ability, and luxury?
      Compare the Dodge Dart to the Civic Si. The Dart is all styling while the Civic is everything else and more.
      What I'm saying is, is it really such a problem to drive a car that's clean and simple? Seems like only people with something to prove would say "yes". Also the more creases and lines a car has, the more it will age horribly. Here's a fantastic example ( photos4.automanager.com/011776/e5672a2c3f605d46b740bfafa023be9d/bb0ce018b9_640.jpg)

    • @mikevaldes9831
      @mikevaldes9831 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes i totally agree. You can buy an ILX and be paying for a more stylish civic. Acura needs to step up their game in design both interior and exterior. When I enter an Acura i feel like I'm in a Honda with leather seats. With Infiniti (while not as luxurious as BMW, MBZ) i feel as if I'm in a powerful luxury sedan. The Q50 styling is aggressive yet elegant. Acura is barely starting to put wood trims in the interior and LED lights on their tail-lights. All around i think the Q50 is a better car for your money even at the base model. I am hoping to buy a Q50 in the summer, in the meantime everyone should go test drive one before they say shit.

    I like both vehicles, I driven both and i would have to say the TLX has better value as for as what you get for the buck. It also to me drives better. The Q50 is a beast tho, def more sportier. And for those who dont consider Acura a luxuary brand, thats ok but it is more luxuary than the Q50 so go figure. Both are good cars depends on what you want, if you are seriously considering both and you are not just watching this to pass time, test drive both!!!!!

      ***** Have you sat in an Acura before? They have zero technology.. The 2016 MDX i recently sat in had a pretty big center dash.... with big gigantic icons and letters like you would see in a kindergarden class............ Acura has ZERO technology and absolutely NO performance so that's why they are cheap. You pay for what you get. Acura makes cars literally made from point A to B and absolutely NOTHING else. When you do advance in technology and stay with the common norm, your car tends to be more reliable but you cannot price your car high exactly what Acura is doing....... Its beyond amusing how one would consider the cheapest, boring, front wheel drive 'luxury' car brand so highly.... Hahahaha .. i was always told nothing cheap is good....... that applies directly with Acura.. Acura is a car I would buy my daughter because its cheap, does not go too fast, and don't have any problems because they lack technology.
      Acura is cheap because of these reasons: 1. No tech 2. Navi looks like a kindergarten app on an ipad 3. No power

    Acura made a recall on TLX due to transmission problems. The 9 Speed ZF gear box is the only major German part on the TLX. The 8 Speed DCT with torque converter made by Acura in house, is working quite well, though. There is your German engineering in real action. They simply can NOT compete with the Japanese.

    For all the idiots saying the Acura TLX is an Accord, have you even driven both? lol. I'm positive you haven't, because I've owned an Accord Sport and currently own an Acura TLX. The Acura definitely feels like its a class above the Accord...the ride quality, road noise cancellation, interior quality, suspension set up, FWD set up, handling, transmissions, and engines are all better than the Accord. The Acura offers so much for the money, its ridiculous. I bought my Acura TLX 2.4 for the same price as my previous Accord Sport. No car manufacturer offers value like Acura does.

      Motor Trend has the Q50 at 5.2 seconds to 60MPH. (Source: www.motortrend.com/new_cars/04/infiniti/q50/)

    Going to be a lot of Acura haters commenting. And in my opinion both Infiniti and Acura are tier 2 luxury. Maybe Acura takes a dip into tier 3 but there's no disputing that the TLX is a good all around car. And when looking up reviews of the Q50 many reviewers complain and say it's lost some of its G35 feel and sportiness.

    • @senorgato70

      Driving the Q50 was a scary experience for me. Granted, I had the steer-by-wire, but the car felt completely flustered. On the highway, I had to make constant corrections to keep it in its lane. When cornering there was so much body roll, it was a really strange sensation in a sedan (I would expect it in a soft SUV). And the engine felt completely underpowered and sounded like it was wheezing. It was like you really needed to rev it like a Honda/Acura VTEC, but without the punch in power or glorious sounds that a VTEC gives you.

    • @H1mynameisLarry

      Infiniti's are priced above Lexus or head to head with Lexus so I don't know how are they second tier luxury. 9/10 of Infiniti cars are sporty and rear wheel drive while half of Acura's line up is front wheel drive and every car they make are priced lower than every other class.. Acura is LITERALLY a rebadged Honda because they both are cheap and both offer front wheel drive.

    • @senorgato70
      @senorgato70 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      H1mynameisLarry Please get your facts straight. ALL of Acura's cars are offered in FWD and ALL but ONE (the ILX) offers SH-AWD as an optional upgrade. And, to your point, Audi's are built on VW platforms and are based on FWD drivetrains. Does that make them cheap, too?

      senorgato70 Here is the difference between Acura and Audi. Audi sport models are twin turbo awd or supercharged. Acura 'Sport' models are non existent. Acura is cheap for a reason. You pay for what you get. The Q50 in this video looks like the base non sport model either .. verse the most expensive Acura TLX....... The most expensive TLX is the one on this video and the most expenisve Q50 is over 55k.... Check the websites... Look at the ugly rims/brakes on this Q50....... you can tell they are comparing the most expensive TLX with the mid trim Q50............ and the Q50 still cost more...... Acura is not cheap for no reason.......

    • @senorgato70
      @senorgato70 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      H1mynameisLarry Do you not know the history of Acura? Acura's business model has always been to offer luxury at a value as compared to their direct competition. They will likely be offering more higher-performance models in the coming years to be more inline with the 335i/435i, S4/S5 and C400, but they still likely will never offer cars to compete with the M/AMG/RS set. Just remember, there's a big difference between "cheap" and "inexpensive". Acura's are relatively inexpensive when compared to their direct competition, but they are much more reliable with the exception of Lexus.

Infiniti has great engine, but the ride is harsh and noisy, which makes a long haul punishing. Tlx is more balanced. Plus, when equipped similarly, it is almost 10k cheaper.

    • @smarieasian
      @smarieasian 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's obvious that you haven't driven a Q50. The ride is nothing like the G; exceptionally smooth and nothing harsh about it.

      Smarie18_ G was just total shit. Q50 is only a little better than the G. It's still shit up to today. You want find a single review on TH-cam where you don't hear the reviewer complain about how shitty the Q50 is when it comes to being comfortable. Also lets not forgot the Q50's Acura wannabe center display screens. Lastly, the hybrid Q50's switch from electric to engine is so intrusive and harsh. Even a Prius can make that transition very smoothly and pretty much unnoticed.

    The Q50s AWD makes this my 8th Infiniti. One test drive in the Acura made me return to my roots! The Acura's lights are EXACTLY like the Accord!! Granted, I know Infiniti/Nissan is the same co. but they jump the scale with more power and looks. If you noticed, the test driver called the Acura's interior "Plastic" and that's exactly what it looks like, Cheep! I have been with Infiniti since the beginning, starting with the 1992 Infiniti M30 (ugly now) but Fun in High school. I have NEVER had one problem through the years. Service is excellent. Need a loaner car, no need to even ask, the service advisor asks you. My friends 2014 $50k Acura MDX, you have to schedule an appointment if you need a loner car (if ones available). No doubt, Infiniti may not get all the advertising it should, but once you've driven one, the ad's are unnecessary. I can't wait to see the New Coupe!

    I don't know why people dislike the steer by wire from the Q50. I own a Acura Integra, Mistubishi Eclipse GT and a Q50S with steer by wire and the Q50 wins all the way when it comes to steering. I've been in tight corners at 120km/h and it feels awesome. You almost don't move the steering wheel. I've tried both, the mechanical steering Q50 and the steer by wire and it not that much different other than it feels more smooth.
    The Integra as a reputation of direct steering because of the ratio of the stearing box, but it's nothing compare to the Q50 with steer by wire. Parking with it with the 19" wheels is a joke. You think sometimes that the car is much smaller than it really is because the small turn radius. It's similar to the Integra (maybe smaller radius in fact) and with the Eclipse GT on 18" you can't do a U turn without going in reverse...
    Yes, you feel a bit less the road from the steering wheel but to be honest, it's not a bad thing in Montreal...

    It's fucking sad when V8 GMC trucks from the 90's where pulling 20-25 MPG... And here we are 20 years into the future and a V6 from a japanese automaker with 7 and 8 speed transmissions are pulling similar numbers.
    At what point does it become painfully obvious that automakers and petroleum producers are either owned by the same group or they pre work out what the average engine should be capped at for Fuel economy.
    IS really the only technological advances they are gonna offer us is more gears(Less transmission durability) and an Ipad mounted in the center console? Then call this "Forward" progress?
    We are all way to gullible.

    However, I definitely see the appeal of the Acura and agree that it probably is the better all around package for most drivers. The key word there is MOST.
    While I don't give two craps about "lane assist" or adaptive cruise control, plenty of other folks love additional convenience and safety features and there is nothing wrong with that. It all comes down to a matter of preference so the only "best" car in the world is the one that's best for you.

Ive driven both and granted the Q50 has a little more power but the way the TLX delivers the power when it hits that sweet sounding vtec is utterly insane and it handles like a dream on top of that. Acura made a come back with this one. They sold well over 19,000 units of the TLX since its debut in late August while their best selling MDX sold 66000 in an entire year(And if I'm not mistaken it is the best selling in its class which makes the TLXs numbers even more impressive). ***** Thanks! I bought the standard FWD V6 version which is faster IMO than the AWD(which is 300+ lbs heavier) which is why I bought it. I figured the loss in handling is made up in the gain in speed. Im not going to be carving corners on a track in my TLX but a little extra oomph is nice when merging on the freeway or just a little light to light race with a WRX(I won :) ). For what it is it holds its own in the handling department tho with the PAWS system. The competitors to me are more the Mercedes CLA250 and Audi A3. All in the same price range and all front wheel drive. I did cross shop an IS 350 and Q50 too but in the end the TLX really is hard to beat. Try cross shopping all those car yourself and you'll see what I mean. Its a really tough choice to make in the entry level luxury segment.

    Tried out the q50, is350 fsport, and tlx. The q50 interior is a little too quirky, the ride is unacceptable for a luxury sedan (and I drive a Subaru BRZ on coils), the engine also is a gross drony thing that doesn't really feel as fast as it should. The TLX has a pretty boring transmission but the handling, comfort and ride were fantastic. The Lexus was truly the best however when I optioned it up to the standard of the tlx it was nearly 15k more expensive, at the price of the is350 an s4 seems like the obvious choice. The tlx in black with aero package will be on my driveway this Wednesday :)

      +Shuffle3956 in canada the is350 is 65k with awd f sport there was absolutely no wiggle room, the loaded tlx was only 50k on the road. The is350 v6 with awd has a transmission with a slushbox that is absolutely unacceptable not only when compared with the tlx, but even with some much less expensive cvt gearboxes, it's absolutely disgusting which if it was 50k I could deal with but at 65k is a terrible decision. Like I said for the 65k that the Lexus is selling for, there are MUCH better cars like the s4 available. I love Lexus but the new IS 350 prices its self out, but they will sell due to the people that care exclusively on the badge.
      It's been a month since I took delivery of the tlx and I absolutely love it, my only complaint with the gearbox initially has gone away since it had a software update and after driving my friends brand new is350 and comparing the transmissions back to back i wish I could retract my statement of the Lexus being the better car.

In sport mode, it was still lack luster under 4000rpm. Steering 'effort' in was better in 'light', or standard..but, verging on ridiculous in heavy when trying to turn in a parking lot. Steering response was better in quick, but unnatural feeling and vague road feel. Unsettling car for me to drive. I purchased the Audi S4 and truely there was no comparison. The torque is instant in the S4 and in comfort mode, I find the steering numb, but smoothe. Enjoy your Q50s, but the sales speak volumes and every review has the same concerns I did. I drove the Q50 for 2 hours and was happy to give it back

      Totally agree with you. I've only owned Subaru and Honda products. I wanted a sport sedan and love the look of the new Q50. I do months of research, watch every review and then of course drive the product for several hours on multiple occasions. My good friend for 20 years is a mechanic only works on german cars. He suggested the S4, not the A4 as he sees a lot of problems with the turbo 4. He told me to stay clear of Mercedes as they are generally 20-30% more expensive for a comparable part than Porsche. I just can't get over the interior on the bmw and although I respect the M3 and 335, just have no desire to own one. I found the S4 engine is underated. It pulls much harder than 333hp and 325ftlb ot torque. Dyno tests show the engine stock is closer to the 385hp and similar torque. Steering is vague, but still refined and smooth. Do you also find the back seating position of the Q50 strange?

    • @greglaurence7707
      @greglaurence7707 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Infiniti will have to go back and fix the steering feel and maybe rejig the back seats. I originally had the steering in the heaviest setting from the dealership and thought there was something wrong I'm 6'0, 220lbs and I found the steering so heavy in the parking lot, I thought it was broken. After playing with all the settings, I found some middle ground. I found the ride jittery and missing the mark between luxury and sport. But, as I stated this was not the hybrid. Enjoy your ride, steering aside it is a gorgeous looking car.

      cancellation as well as conventional tricks, including expanding-foam insulation in the body. The optional ELS sound system lacks punchy bass response, but
      sounds fantastic with excellent imaging and beautifully crisp treble."

    My brother has an Acura TLX SH-AWD V6 and it's lowered and has a tune and an intake and it's pretty fucking fast. My Aunt has a Q50 and it's also decently fast but the way you feel in the TLX. The mocha brown leather seats mmm. It's just so nice and sleek and welcoming but the Q50's interior is just kind of plain and normal

  • @bernyeric

    The only thing holding the tlx back is a more interestingly designed interior, some sportier steering, and some tailpipes. As for the Infiniti I think it's well off, except those ugly tail lights

  • @MrVorachack

    Acura is more grown up?... Infiniti is more focused on the older, mature generation who can afford it. When you can find prices around the same from both these cars, the Q50s with the better front bumper is the way to go. You spend around the same for these cars, i'd just shell out a little more for the Infiniti, put a Stillen Supercharger, and call it a day. That's just my angle on it

    I don't get it... The whole time they're talking about how the q50 is "not as luxurious" and "too stiff" for a luxury sports sedan. Then, at the very end, they say the TLX is the better luxury sedan. They're BOTH luxury SPORT sedans, and anybody in the market for one will want better handling and a more powerful car. Which the q50 is hands down. If I wanted a boring car with better gas milage, I would buy a Camry.

    If you want a true fun car to drive: Infiniti is the Winner No doubt.
    If you wanna save the planet (perhaps)...Go with the Accord Hybrid Touring for $36K
    The Infiniti comes in a Hybrid option....
    It has a 3.5 liter Hybrid with 360 hp & what 472 lb-ft of torque.
    The 3.5 liter engine produces 300hp
    258 tq.
    The 50 kW electic motor produces 60hp
    214 tq.
    Instead of Acura, the Accord Hybrid Touring would be a better choice.
    The Infiniti is the Winner here, anyone that drives the Infiniti should prefer it in their driveway.

    • @ajlee6933
      @ajlee6933 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you go back and listen to the video they do mention if the Q50 had the sport package (steer by wire) it would've made the steering and ride quality worse. Other than that the Q50 was only missing the tech package, which was also mentioned to be similar to the TLX, but cost thousands more in the Q50.

    • @SelmerVidz1
      @SelmerVidz1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's true. The two cars we had were not similarly equipped. But, you'll notice we did our best to compare elements that stay the same despite the trim difference. The engine, transmission, interior ergonomics, fuel economy and passenger space wouldn't change if we had a better Q50 (not including the hybrid). So it's still V6 vs V6, AWD vs AWD.
      Having the direct adaptive steering in the Infiniti would likely have made the choice even easier, as it is apparently even more numb than the TLX's steering. Even with an upgraded S model, the Q50 gets sport upgrades, keeping the sports car feeling we talk about the same while compromising on the luxury side of things.
      When looking at price, Sami mentions in the video that we compared a fully loaded Q50 against a fully loaded TLX to see which includes more features for less.
      Unfortunately it's not always possible for us to get the exact right cars, because automakers choose the vehicles on the media fleet. So we make the best of it.

    • @senorgato70
      @senorgato70 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      In this case, a full-loaded Q50 would have been to its detriment, primarily on steering feel and price. The final verdict was based on fair factors of comparison, at the end of the day.

    • @senorgato70
      @senorgato70 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** That's just ridiculous. You can't compare system on a fighter jet to one in a car. Fighter jets don't rely on friction (from the road) to provide feel to the driver and to help guide its direction. And it's not a problem of responsiveness. It's a matter of the steering feeling completely disconnected from the car. And that's a pretty unanimous opinion from almost anyone whose driven the car. I don't know what you drove prior to your Q50S, but I drive an S5 and before that I had a 350Z. At the time that I test drove the Q, I also test drove the new C-Class, the 428 and 435, the IS350 and GS350, Audi A6, the 2.4L and 3.5L TLXs, and even the CLA 250. When I got out of the Q, my very first comment was, "that was just outright scary".

    • @senorgato70
      @senorgato70 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** It's has nothing to do with something "being different" and the accompanying fear of such. It has everything to do with being in control of a car, not just for the fun of it, but for the safety of it. Maybe you and I..or I should say, may you and the rest of the automotive world...have very different expectations of how steering should feel, and that's fair enough. But, all I will say is, no thanks.

    • @ajlee6933
      @ajlee6933 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      What's your point? The Q50 has lost every comparison test against those competitors you mentioned (excluding XE). Now you can add the "near luxury" TLX to the list of cars that beat the "luxury sport sedan" Q50.

    I like Infiniti, but I would rather have a fully loaded TLX with the iconic SH-AWD than a somewhat loaded Q50 with just a normal AWD system. Also, Acura is in the same class a Volvo, and Lincoln, not Cadillac, Lexus, and Infiniti. They're one class above.
