We're living in a new horror story here in the U.S with the CDC regulations telling doctors how to treat their patients who have successfully been being treated for years, now being forced to change that treatment! Wonderful clinical video that every medical person involved with treatment for pain should watch.

Dr Campbell, it's really interesting when you bring up the dehumanizing past approaches to children and pain.
It reminded me if my education in early childhood development. The history of children not being put into forced labor and also abused was fostered by the (forgive me if I phrase this inaccurately), the Society Against Cruelty to Animals in the, I think, late 1800's. It occured to them that if we shouldn't be cruel to animals, that we need to additionally protect children as well. I found that to be ironic; those good intentions still matter, but the movement helping children out of forced labor as an afterthought was remarkable to learn.

Indeed!!! A BIG THANK YOU!!! That is a reference of experience holding absolute true!!! How many times we feel the need to encourage the patient that they do not have pain? However, the patients are not athletes or soldiers. They are patients and their problem is the pain. If we cannot understand the pain associated factors and mechanisms, we are not able to help them. Then, we need to learn deeper the pain matrix.

Thank you for that. This is very beneficial information; as recovering from surgeries and dealing with under-educated nurses is an unexplainably painful process. I have been accused of abusing or over using deprived and forced to beg for appropriate medication required to recover comfortably. I’m unsure if it’s appropriate to file complaints with the licensing committee.

Just what I needed to hear. I had a consultation with a GP at my practice today to review recent hip and knee X-ray. I have ankolysing spondylitis with a current crp of 60. Experiencing new onset numb leg and leg pain coupled with weakness. Informed by GP X-rays showed only moderate changes. I inject sub cut biological agent each month. I cannot take steroids due to bipolar 11 and ante inflammatory drugs have caused microscopic colitis changes. I am no fool, was a RN and clinical tutor for 40 years in the NHS. Doctor reluctant to script new pain meds due to dependence. Or refer me for further tests etc. Told my pain is due to my weight as my joints carrying my frame around. I am 12 stone admittedly overweight but made worse by reduced mobility. Explained to her that pain is making me so very depressed, suicidal thoughts last night despite being a practicing RC. Her reply, well you didn't do it did you. Dr John you have given me hope.

That's an excelent question for one of the few doctors worth their dime. I have chronic pain and have been denied treatment due to having chronic spine pain and an ACDF at the age of 27 and especially when the weather changes and it flares up I get some spine splitting stabs that cut my breath short and then it feels like I can just stop breathing at will.

My System: Does the damn thing hurt? yes or no Forget Tramadol. Tylenol or aspirin. Start off with Perc 10's and go up from there. If no response, double dosage.
