- The Met Office has issued new snow and ice warnings covering the whole of Scotland and parts of Wales and England for the coming week.
Up to five centimetres of snow are expected in parts of Scotland, causing disruption on the roads and railways.

Scandinavian countries must laugh at us every winter. The pathetic way we go on over abit of snow
Especially when London grinds to a halt for the 1mm of frost on the road. Yet Scandinavian countries happily drive around in 3ft drifts, just todo their shopping. 🤦♂️
@@Thestorminator89 If the snow was regular I would understand that it's pathetic. In the last 4 years there were like 2 days when there was any snow on roads. People drive with summer tires that are terrible in winter in general, let alone snow. People don't know how to drive correctly in these conditions too. Coming from eastern Europe it can seem funny how no one can handle snow, but it is completely understandable. In the US it was the same when it snowed in Texas. Even worse probably, yet northern and north-eastern states and Canada deal with far worse conditions with no issues at all.
Actually the Nordic countries are getting it very bad just now up to 3 meters

Scotland deals with it very well actually ive been there in heavy snow and they clear it quickly meanwhile in manchester the close everything even the airport for a few flakes 🙈
They have already changed the snow forecast for Northamptonshire from saying snow all day to no snow at all.

Pretty much the same for the south coast. The 3-4 day forecast for snow is obviously rather difficult to predict, and it's been updated surprisingly often of late.

Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England, is where the Hepworth Centre (named after the famous sculptor Barbara Hepworth) is located, around 180 miles north of London. I did work there around a decade ago, just before the Crafts Centre there opened.

When I was young, museums were grey unexciting places. I remember room after room of to-me-identical shards of 'Roman' pottery. How wonderful that the Hepworth museum provides a warm space for the people of Wakefield. Perhaps I'll believe in progress after all.

Is this rare for the UK? What's the average winter's temperature there? I live in the states so just curious as NY can get pretty cold, wind chills of negative 5 low temperatures of 5..but that's rare, usually about 35 degrees Fahrenheit..

The entire UK is normally about 75-80 degrees fahrenheit all year round. So getting temps this cold is actually normally never heard of in the UK. Clearly being caused by global boiling.
