I love the rain. It cools off the area and it's calming.

Hey Steve! I owned a business in Bangkok and during the rainy season they have a form of acid rain. I am an avid walker and got caught in the rain once and before I made it back to my house my skin started burning and I had to jump in the shower. Rain is a good sleep mate. LOL We are glad you are an info junkie so we can learn more from you. Knowledge is power but true power is the sharing of knowledge. God Bless

The PH needs a good rainy season this year to keep the crops growing and export economy up.

We have been getting a lot of rain in Kidapawan lately, almost every afternoon and today it started early. It would stop for a few minutes and comes back again...Most fruits and vegetables are cheaper where we are. Some are free, from our backyard. Some incentives living in the province

Thanks for a useful topic pick. As you know, a picture is worth a thousand words; and its often better to show rather than tell. If convenient, you may want aim your camera at a few of your maps. Using our pause feature, we could examine them a small bit for information of a cursory nature. When I first came here in 2003 I purchased quite a few plastic laminated info maps while visiting the bookstores of various cities, but they all disappeared when I was out of country over the years, so I agree with your appraisal of their usefulness. All we have in my city, at present, is a National Bookstore.... I will check it for what they carry. Thank you for reminding me of this old interest of mine.

Rain is ok in the summer when its hot. When it rains daily for long stretches is when I start to hate it.Its still better than cold weather.Good tip about the maps.😄🌴

Beware of Typhoons and pick someplace safe. For example Davao city is south of the typhoon belt, but everywhere in the PI can get a typhoon given enough time and climate changes but it would be less often.

Living in Vancouver, BC I'm sort of getting used to a lot of rain myself Steve. Our Philippine condo is at San Fernando, Pampanga which I don't think is too bad compared to a lot of places we could have chosen. There are some real nightmare places over there though once the heavy rains start.
Ideally I want to be there (once the regulations are relaxed and make it worth getting back over) from about mid November each year to maybe mid April. About then it gets too hot, and it would be nice to get back to Vancouver.

Bargain shopping is fun in the PI. You got that right. The Organic foods for sure.

Agree with everything in this video except the further south you go the more dangerous it is. I have been going to Davao since 2007 and I've never had a problem or felt threatened. As long as you use common sense you're fine. Trust me it's no more dangerous than taking the wrong turn in Miami after dark. Keep up the good work...thanks

Davao was dangerous before Duterte became the Mayor there in 1988. His Daughter is the Mayor there now, so I imagine she gets all the support she needs from Father to keep things in order. Not wise to go any distance away from the city.

Thank you for your video! Please tell me, how long does it usually rain in Manila between July and September? A couple of hours a day or all day long? I understand that there can be some days like this and some like that, but what is more common? I have nothing against short rains, but if they don't stop, then I'll look for another place to go. (I want to stay for a long period of time and I'm looking for a place with good weather all year round).

Hi Steve. Milos 56 in Oslo. I just love when it's raining because after rain air is just so nice breathing and feels fresh and cools you of. Have been to Philippines several times during rainy season and i love this season. I love all seasons there. It's a good sign at least they start with Srr visas again. Only you can apply if living in Philippines already. Just a question of time when we abroad can apply for Srr visas again. Stay safe and healthy. Ciao

    Hi, how are you?
I’m looking at visiting my gf in Pasig this August. I have told her a lot about you, how great and informative your blogs are, as well as what a cool guy you are. Tracie Materas, Makati, ans couple other cities near you and Makati, are where I have my sights on living, when she and I, are ready to stay in the Philippines, for a while. I don’t know how much traveling we’ll be able to enjoy, depending on the weather in the Manila area, in the 5-8 weeks I may stay there? And by the way, I loved your “$2,500.00 Budget” blog, and how you said that at that budget, we’ll be able to live relatively comfortable. You answered my million dollar question, and I’m very pleased with that. I’m a retired Air Force Veteran, and I think my gf, (future wife, don’t tell her, I want to surprise her), and I, are going to be OK, when we come to stay in the Philippines. God bless you for all you do for us, with your great blogs, and keepum coming.

I was told by someone who grew up in Hawaii that the smaller the pineapple is, the sweeter it will be. The sugar level does not increase as it grows.
They also said that the top comes of with a twist. No knife needed.

Typhoon belt. Saipan and Guam would get pounded then it would head over to the Philippines, then China, Taiwan, Okinawa. Kind of the same in Central America. Dry season in Dec, Jan and Feb. Starts up again around April through November the wet season. Houston rain floods things bad around here. Seem to get it all at once. Especially a rain feeder coming off the Gulf. Terrible here. Flat terrain too.

That sounds awesome! I'm addicted to maps. I own more atlases and things than anyone I know. I love gathering information and being aware of stuff. I wonder where I would be able to find Philippine maps over here in the States. I may find the information online, but I want physical coated maps. Any idea who may sell them?
