I do work for homeowners in mostly HOA neighborhoods. In this 7 years I have never heard a homeowner say"I'm so glad we have an HOA". In fact it has always been the opposite.
Have you ever found an HOA that raised property values, which is their purported reason for existing, rather than lowered them? AFAIK, when buyers hear "HOA" they run for the hills!
@@Christobanistan hoa always lower the value because most people buy a house so they can do what they want with it not have a bunch of Karen dictators telling them what to do.
if you buy a house in an HOA you just become a renter that has to pay property taxes and put tens to hundreds of thousands dollars down for a home. Why would any sane person want to even buy a home if they're just going to legally be treated as a renter.
A word to the wise, DO NOT buy a house in a HOA community. In EVERY HOA community there are always those neighbors who are on a power trip and walk/drive around making sure everyone in compliance with the rules and submit issues to the HOA management.
And if you're not in violation right now? Well, they can always make up new rules. Ours tried to say my dad's truck wasn't running since he parked it in the same spot every day. It ran! It was just ugly. You know that problem Fords had where the paint would bubble and peel making it look like vehicular mange? lol. @@LarisseMontrose I think HOA should just be removed but I guess some people want them around, not sure why. I moved out of an HOA managed community 2 years ago and could not be happier. We had one HOA board member that would walk around with a ruler and measure grass height. I spent my entire youth without a HOA. When I became an adult I bought a house in an HOA without realizing what I was getting into. My realtor told me HOA’s here weren’t that bad, they just worry about people leaving toilets and appliances in the front yard. Since then I’ve been in some kind of violation every year since I moved in. I can’t do anything to the yard or house without permission. There’s a small dictatorship of people who rule over us and it’s all legal. There are a few rich old retired people who walk their dogs and have nothing better to do but criticize and threaten legal action. My only joy is to yell at them when they leave dog poop in my yard or have no leash. I love my house but I hate my HOA.
I'm not a fan of HOAs, but that "small dictatorship" has the right to ". . . rule over [you] and it’s all legal" because you entered into a contract with the HOA when you bought the house. YOU gave them that right. If others in your neighborhood feel as you do, you should all go to an HOA attorney together and split the fee for his or her services to address the problems.
I know that if these old busybodies are allowing their dogs to poop on your lawn that is a violation of HOA rules as well. Document with time stamped videos and have them fined.
There is no way anyone convince me to ever live in a community that had an HOA...I understand people need places to live but places like that will never be on my list of choice. HOA madness is the result of people not acknowledging WHY neighborhoods have gone to shit. They think it's because of curbside appearance, because their brainwashing will not allow them to ascertain the REAL reason that neighborhoods have turned to shit. The funny part is, when the single mom programs place trashy people in the neighborhood, (and all they kin folks gots to stays wit em, so they feel like they bigtiming), the HOA karens are afraid to say anything to them, so the government ultimately turns their neighborhood into a shothole, while they cherry-pick superficial shit to nit-pick.
They say things like, Oh, we will cut your grass. At the same time they are telling you what color you can paint the house that you are paying for. Lots of people loose their homes over HOA's rules.
@@Cypher15100 I think when you move into a neighborhood where there is an HOA present, you sign a paper and agree to their rules. So I'm sure breaking those rules after signing has consequences.
We moved into a HOA unit only out of expedience and we only planned to be their for 3 years. But my hubby became ill and we have been stuck here for 10 years. It's living hell and we are desperately saving to get out. When people ask me where I live, I actually say "Hell". Can't do this, can't do that, fines for every little things. If you have any sense of independence, stay far away. If you want to have every decision made for you, then go for it.
At one time I was employed to maintain a 55 acre site of 545 homes. I held that job for roughly 4 years. I probably would stayed longer , but I eventually got tired of the ridiculous pettiness of some of the HOA board members. I truly believe that they were picked on as children and that behaving childishly as adults was their way of getting retaliation on the world. I guess from this video and others like it, this is a common pattern among all HOA Boards of Trustees.
So let me get this right? You own a home, you then contract out to a company from another state to keep the value of your home up. Allowing them to civilly hog tie you until they can come in and seize your assets and property legally? Sweet! How can I get on board?
After the last hurricane ripped through my area, roofers were swamped for almost a year. Even with a massive influx of out of state people coming in to cash in, there weren't enough roofers to go around. My sister lives in an HOA 20 minutes from me and she suffered very minor damage. She has always been one of those to always be prepared and had her insurance ready plus extra cash on hand to pay for anything she needed, but it still took months just to get someone locked in for her roof repairs. Once she hired a company, they delivered her materials and set them in her driveway near her garage door. They told her it would still be weeks before they would be able to get to her repairs. Within a week, she got a notice from the HOA that she had to move/hide the pallets of shingles and other materials from view, or she'd be fined. There were a dozen other homes in the same neighborhood with the same problems. She told them that there was nothing that she could do about the materials, because she's single and not a teenager anymore. They did finally acquiesce. HOA's can be assholes.

You know that problem Fords had where the paint would bubble and peel making it look like vehicular mange? lol. Anyway, since it ran they couldn't fine him for that so they added a new one about "unsightly" vehicles. He finally had to get rid of it just so Karen down the way didn't have to be reminded that work trucks exist.
@@LarisseMontrosethat’s disgusting I’m sorry you guys had to put up with that, I personally would’ve just kept the truck and fought it until they straight up forced me out of my own home, which again wouldn’t happen at-least not easily.
If I did live in an HOA area I’d probably be miserable, but I’d go out of my way to look for people who do that kind of stuff just so I can sabotage their property and call HOA on them just to give them a taste.
@@mclovin2408 That gets expensive though. It's a shame, but mostly the HOAs pick on people they know can't afford to fight them.
And once they're on you they don't stop. The truck was really the worst of it, but it was always something. There was some threat of a fine every other month or so.
Best thing is to just not take a house that's under an HOA.
@@LarisseMontrose I think HOA should just be removed but I guess some people want them around, not sure why. But if they can’t be removed completely they should at least have their authority cut back a lot, they shouldn’t be allowed to find homeowners for every little thing, that makes someone’s home more like HOAs personal money farm.
