  • What’s up guys! Here’s the ALL NEW 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, it’s the first year of the third gen! And honestly quite similar to the last generation, with some mostly tasteful updates, IMO. This one is a premium with a 2.0 Boxer and symmetrical AWD.

    I love my ‘24 CrossTrek Premium, I drove a new HR-V & bought the Subaru. There were no Forester Premiums in the entire Portland metro area. I have a large SUV, so we only needed a runabout.

    I had a 2005 legacy that was very slow. It was good in the snow. I just traded it in on the 24 crosstrek premium. It much nicer to get in and out of the clearance is great. Also when I used sport mode in the legacy it made little difference but in the crosstrek s sport mode really gives it a boost seem to do less motor boating and switches through gears (I know it's a cvt) much faster try using it the next time it will allow you to reach 0 to 60 about a second or 2 faster. I haven't used the paddle shifters yet but will soon. Great review

    You seem to get a lot more suv for your money with the Forester premium trim over the Crosstrek premium. The Forester base trim is pretty base, but the step up to the Forester premium is a big step up.

    I've read that the CarPlay integration is very slow, taking ~30 seconds to connect. Seems hard to believe - any idea if that's true?

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s true, especially if that’s what some owners report. My own personal Miata does CarPlay better than my Outback with its 11.6” screen and even that takes over 15s to connect each time. Honestly, I usually just Bluetooth music to my Outback because it takes less time to connect, lol. Best of luck! 🙂

    I live in NC, no high altitude or mountain driving. I bought a 24 premium Crosstrek and debating on if it has enough power for highway driving. I’m debating trading it in after only 2 weeks for a limited. With driving both engines do you think it would be big enough difference to justify the cost of trading in?

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you expect to have that type of driving? Or having the vehicle weighted down very often? That’s a good question. If you feel safe driving it and not like you don’t have the power to safely merge on the highway then it would be a pretty penny just for the occasional acceleration improvement. But if the power is a fun splurge to you, or can avoid an accident then it’s absolutely worth it. Sorry if this response was wordy, theres just a lot of different perspectives to it lol.

    I am back because I can't figure out how to turn on my mirror defogger and the heated steering wheel 🤣😆(planning for Colorado winter). Does the heated steering wheel turn on when the heated seats are turned on? Mirror Defogger?

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว

      In my experience if a subaru has the heated steering wheel it’s a tab/button on the right side of the wheel around the 4-5 o’clock position. As far as heated mirrors, I believe that would be a physical button on the side of the 11.6” screen on those models, or in the dials of the physical buttons for HVAC on other Subarus. I’m just thinking off hand, I hope that helps!

      @ErikS308 I have one, it's not a Dodge, Plymouth or Chrysler tranny from the 90's.
      You could take the factory air cleaner out, replace it with a K&N filter, gain 2 - 3 hp and waste your tranny within a week. At 58 I've seen it, but thankfully never owned one.
      Ford had issues in the early 2000-teens with the cheap mess DC/Power Shift Transmissions they put in their small cars.
      I've tore up a GM Saginaw manual they use to use back in the 70's. A little power boost 😁 put a knuckle sized hole in the side of it. Not to mention troubles with the newer GM trucks.
      I could lay stuff out all day for you, and include Nissan & Infiniti & Toyota in the mix.
      The lack of a simple fluid change can cause wonders on pretty much any transmission, the Valve Body being the #1 culprit. Change the transmission fluid in your CVT @ 40k or so and you'll be fine, the "lifetime" thing is a false claim and all manufactures seem to promote it.
      The good ol days of automatic transmissions lasting a lifetime untouched is over.
      Subaru is out to make $$, just like the rest of the automotive Industry.
      Manufactures are wise, & just like your Fridge, Stove, A/C unit, TV & even your clothes. Stuff isn't what it use to be. That's what keeps them in business
