I've seen many foolish people driving with LED lights on high beam.
I think the traffic police ought to take serious note of this and issue heavy challan to the offending vehicle.

After fitting the bulb, even in low beam, it is important that bulbs are levelled properly so that there is no glare. A simple method would be to park at a distance of 7m from a wall at darkness and see if there is a proper pattern to the light throw and is not scattered.

Guys, he makes great videos and great content. This one is that. Just be sure if you are installing LED blub on reflectors headlamps. For most cars, you will not get that desired 60% benefits. After seeing this video with that confidence I went ahead and got it installed only on low beam, the shop guy kept saying, don't just install, instead go for Full replacement with a projector or install HID on reflectors, but due to this video, I did it in confidence and here is my experience
    1. It gives better visibility but is not that great for the money we pay.
    2. Light scatters around.
    3. Got Osram Night breaker installed on high beam, so that's kinda consolation of this bulb weakness.
    4. In rains, you cant see the lights focus at all... Doesn't work in rains.

Thank you for endorsing the OSRAM brand - I was planning to buy LEDs for my vehicle, and this is useful. However, I don't quite agree that we do not need good high beams while driving in India. On highways, at higher than city speed, you will necessarily need to drive on high beams, and it is definitely very useful to have good quality bulbs in the high beam also. Driving etiquette requires you to dip your beams when you encounter a vehicle approaching you from the opposite direction, which is also a quality of a good, considerate and ethical driver.

What i experienced by increasing bulb wattage from company fitted 55-60 to 90-100, remember, headlight assemblies are in 3 parts. Crystal glass, deflector and back cover. Glass and back cover is 2 different materials and they are joined together with a glue like rubbery silicon and it can withstand certain amount of heat it can bare the heat generated by 55-60W. But definitely not 90-100. In that case, this sealant becomes soft ant you will experience water leakage cause fog formation inside headlight. So better use LED or leave it alone.

No harm to the in circuit electrical components. Those switching to 90W, the current will be almost twice. The associated electrical components, ie wires, relays, etc should be able to handle this load. Due care to be taken. 👍

    1) Any modification in headlights in India is *illegal.*
    2) If your headlight's interior glass isn't designed for an LED's throw, it'll make no difference. It'll scatter light weirdly.
    3) Even if you've low-beam projectors, it'll still make no major difference. *Just don't use LED's with reflectors lol.*
    4) It might void warranty or even insurance, beware.
If your stock Halogens are too poor, the Best way is to upgrade to a better Halogen bulb. *Halogens are much cheaper, are less irritating on eyes, much better in fog & rain, doesn't burn your fibre glass.*
    • Stay below 6500k

I was pretty sure before upgrading headlamp that LED is not a solution for Halogen specially if not came factory fitted. Upgraded these LEDs with Osram 55w low beam, guess what.. when calculated lumens its not even half the brightness of halogen bulb. Just because its produces cool white, please don't fall in trap. Just to check I upgraded a 90w from Chinese brand, it produces more light but no where close to factory bulb. In real time visibility is more in halogen but if you notice instantly, you may say LED is better. So my recommendation is dont upgrade Headlight bulb if OEM doesn't design it. Really like cool white then just upgrade the foglamp.

    Hello.
I watch your channel often. Here are my thoughts. Please ponder over.
LED headlights are a menace and an invitation to accidents. May those be low power or high power, they invariably blind the driver of passing cars or any vehicle for that matter. However much you recommend to not use them in high beam, in most cases it never happens because drivers feel insecure facing even halogen high beams of passing cars from opposite side and hence always are compelled to drive using high beams. Even the glow of LED red/orange side indicator/break lights, let alone white/yellowish/bluish whatever kind of headlights, is so bright that they not only blind the driver of a car from opposite side but even the car behind you. I feel that the govt should at least withdraw sanctions given for LED headlights with immediate effect.
I request you to please not encourage and recommend vehicle owners to use LED headlights.
Last but not the least less said the better about the menace of overly bright and powerful white LED headlights of scooters and motor bikes which are so numerous.
    Regards.

      You said the truth.
Govt should ban using LED bulbs in automotive sector. No way these should be allowed even on tail lamps.
Secondly, these are totally worthless in rainy or foggy weather to drive with.
Dunno why people ignore basic science. Where does their commonsense hide, I don't understand.

    • @drrsda
      @drrsda 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@nothingabsolute6302 Exactly. Human eyes, by the nature of their structure and capacity are not meant to tolerate the brightness of LED lights. Even phone and TVs have a filter which gives yellow tinge to display when they filter UV and other radiations. Even then, if human eyes are exposed to TV, phone they're bound to get affected badly. No way we can tolerate a beam from LED light at night even in city let alone on highways where there are no street lights. I always wonder who in the govt. bureaucracy has provided the basis on which LED headlights were given permission. I doubt, they referred to any scientific literature in this regards. I'm really aghast at this callousness.

Hi sir! I have a Ford Ecosport Titanium+, would you recommend upgrading to LED or HID? My dealer suggested HID as the S variant also has those. Would really appreciate if you could suggest.
Also, would you also recommend upgrading the fog lamps to LED?

    1) Im looking to replace halogen bulb fitted in my seltos with HID kit Osram 55 watt having ballast. Is it good replacement?
    2) In my base varient seltos don’t have fog light. I do go for trips in ghats curvy roads, So what would be your recommendations , should I go for LED ice cube fog light? Or Halogen projector fog light? . My budget is around 10k for fog light, please suggest.
    Thank you in advance.

      As per my opinion,
      1. Best choice and go ahead (Osram HID kit)
      2. Ice cube LEDs wer not that effective(Show purpose only) instead u can go with a Projector with LED setup.

Sir , i have this same car . Honda city V . I’hv changed my bulbs to osrams led long back but the only thing that disturbs me is . That socket that connector the middle part of that light on which the instructions are written . That black thing that hang in there . Does it get heated ? Does it get HOT?? Red hot i would say . When the lights are on . That black middle part of that wire gets very hot . Is it normal?? Nothing to get worried thing? Kindly please sort this thing for me. That will be a big help .

Did you leave your high beam bulb yellow only or you changed both. I'm a responsible cautious driver and yet sometimes on an open secluded highway I do need to use my high beams. I have missed hitting stray cattle at night on the highways...... What would your recommendation be? Change both or leave the high beam as is. I have a Volkswagen Jetta 2013 model. Also is it ok to use a led bulb in a halogen setup... Will there be any long term effects?
Thank you for the awesome work. ...truly helpful.
