- Love this series on Oneyplays with Ding Dong and Julian, so I wanted to make a compilation of my favorite YIIK moments. Threw in some extra edits as well

The build up for kissing Rory made it so much better in that episode, I thought the editor added it at first it was too perfect

@@darkvioletcloud It's pretty real. If you try to kiss Rory then kinda treat him like a jerk for a majority of the time with the rude dialogue options, Vella will tell Alex she found a suicide note from Rory and uh ... yeah, he's not in the party anymore.

This game feels like they wanted to combine Earthbound and Persona together but instantly fails by having the main character talk

Instead of going from liking to hating Alex Yiik over the games course, Chris just went from hating him at the beginning to absolutely despising him in the middle for him not even bothering to look at the cover of the record
Fun fact: The voice of Rory, YuriofWind refused to play this game cause he even knows howw awful it was and wants to be friends with Chris.
Maybe Chris *can* finally kiss Rory.

Honestly they’re probably the most positive content creators I’ve seen talk about this game despite all the shittyness. It’s important to recognize things that could’ve been at least decent if the creator just had more self awareness, instead of just calling everything as a whole a complete waste. Also useful for other people who want to make their own RPG, to see what actually could’ve worked and learn from YIIK’s mistakes.

Running Shine's incredible 2 hour long review of Yiik goes for a more level-headed approach of dissecting how each thing went wrong and could be fixed that reminds me a lot of how these guys discuss it. Def recommend it if you've got the time
Mans literally self inserted as a mc, tried to make earthbound, then blamed gamers for making a bad game. There's a LOT to unpack

The alex yiik character is really supposed to be an unlikable loser, you can tell from the writing, i mean in the letsplay alone he got nagged about the fact he has a college degree but no job 10 times, considering he could easily get one if he stopped being an entitled neet
I don't think Ding Dong wanted anything more in his life than for Alex to kiss Rory. I wish I was capable of that level of excitement.
I just realized how weird it is for a guy to arrive in his hometown on April 4th after graduating college. It's too late for him to be done with fall/winter semester, but too early to be done with spring
The moral of that Bible story being an extremely irritated DON'T TRUST ANYBODY is absolutely killing me

After 10 minutes of starting the game you ask yourself "Wait where's the funny commentary?".
2 hours later you're doubled over crying, begging Alex Yiik to shut up.
It’s appealing until you realize how much off screen grinding had to be done
i emulated it on swatch and couldn't get past finding the cat it was so boring
This game has been a gem for creating brilliant moments.

If I had to play it getting the opportunity to lock lips with yuriofwind would be the one brightside to the whole game- sucks that you can't but a Rory-based moral system thing is also good, actually the whole game should be about Rory or whatever- there's a furry flash game about having a being stuck with a cat furry, and you have the option to be his friend, lover, or abuser depending on your choices- that is a game that i would play. It could also be like that one old new grounds game about brainwashing a girl you kidnapped- I would also be happy with a game where you do that to him, or even just a soft fluffy thing.

They never realized they could have killed the crow in the beginning of the game and collect their crow rewards.
Does that even have a purpose? What can the crow feathers do?
@@GottaFistDemAll Well it actuall drops ammo for later in the game when Alex fights off the evil residents of his home town. Kinda weird considering its used so late in the game and the only time he uses a gun.

I never get tired of seeing Alex Yiik's mouth flap, vibrating with motion.
I like to imagine Ding Dong jumping up and grabbing Chris by the collar while shaking him as he shouts "DO IT" over and over again over the Kiss Rory option.
The one moment at the beginning of ep 10 where some enemy attacks Rory and they say that genuine "don't hurt him, he's Rory- NO!!!!" kills me
I have to admit, I was actually somewhat Unironically enjoying the bits of YIIK where Alex and the group are...being friendly with eachother. Just having conversations, getting close, even when it's weird and clunky- I can buy (to some degree) that these people like eachother. Even how the others all sort of bond over mutual frustration with Alex, all laughing at him together as he begrudgingly takes it- makes him feel less obnoxious. It was at its best when they were driving around together in Claudio's van, searching for the android- Just sorta...palling around over a mutual interest, having a little fun while they were at it. (Also I was happy that Rory was still alive, and being included. I like him)
It's a shame that the bit with the Essentia where she *never shuts up for seven hours straight* comes right after that and just knocks it all down

But like, he and Chondra have that contrast where he can't get over his brother, and Chondra desperately wants to get over it and not let it define her. And they try something with Vella, with her mind dungeon and the whole performance anxiety/exploitation thing. Michael... Michael isn't much. But, Rory is fun- he's weird, and he seems to really want attention but in an earnest sorta "I'm just lonely" way, and like...
...listen I never said it was *great.* I'm not pretending here. You're absolutely right in that most of them can be boiled down to having one "thing" which they just state outright.
All I'm saying is that they were shaping up to be a real Scooby Gang before the game got back to Yiiking us around.

I think Yiik could've easily been a little better if they had just introduced the destruction of reality thing earlier in the game instead of at the end. Because for most of it Alex is just searching for Sammy, a girl he doesn't even know much about, while everyone else tags along. Rory and Michael don't have much of a motivation to want to stick around Alex nor does Claudio really and Chondra doesn't want to be there at all. If they had established that reality would end by Yiik then it would've made some sense why'd they'd follow Alex. Another easy fix is just have Alex and Sammy be friends or lovers by the start of the story, gives Alex motivation to look for her instead of just "oh I kinda feel bad that I couldn't help her" as if he'd care about some stranger he just met and didn't even had a good reaction with.

I remember how every other content creator trash this game for being unbearable but I would like to thank this playthrough to make this one of my best bad games I've ever seen

I genuinely am thinking about playing this game. I know the comparison is overused, but this really feels like the gaming industrys version of the Room. The people who made it genuinely thought they were making something great and it ends up being unintentionally hilarious and enjoyable in ways the creators did not intend.

I've made my peace with this LP being abandoned right at the end, but I am absolutely losing my gourd waiting for Yiik I.V
Alex YIIK is my favorite series right now, I don't know why, but is like a guilty pleasure, I love the game, I love how bad it is, because without that they will be no making fun, but at the same time praising the game all the time in their series.
I love how they hate the characters, but at the same time they like how bad written they are, how the incredible painful writing make them go crazy, but they just put their own ideas that just make simpler the plot. I think this game is amazing, tons of people just make it look bad, but in reality, is a bad game that if you play it to serious you just gonna take all the fun you could get from it.
Better than the new formula, "Take all from the start, don't struggle with any of the game just complete it without any feeling of accomplishment", also i never see someone been harsh to Hades, that game have a fun mechanic and gameplay, but the writing is even worse than Alex YIIK.
... That's because people actually enjoy Hades's writing, however much you personally dislike it. And nobody actually enjoys YIIK's pretentious writing except ironically and for luls.
I'm all for being slightly less harsh on the game out of sympathy for the creator but you are giving it far too much credit. It's still a *full price* game that is genuinely a massive slog to play through. The writing isn't always 'so bad it's funny', I promise you, it's actually just excruciatingly boring and stupidly long 80% of the time without the funny commentary.
@@cocoapixels I know but that grow up in me, as I say is a guilty pleasure, I know is just awfully bad in many ways, but there is not day that I say "Hope Oneyplays upload Alex YIIK today" and I really think because of that is amazing even if that wasn't the intention.
In case of Hades I was really into the game and I enjoy it, but after reaching the goal what follow next didn't catch me to ever play it again, as a person that love Greek Mythology (I was horrified with the writing of a cheap bad sitcom). So it hits me harder.
Is a really good game don't get me wrong, but damn, a lazy fan fiction can do a better work, the quality was so far away there.

As someone who's very familiar with YIIK's shortcomings I wasn't going to watch this. Although, judging by these highlights and comments this sounds like a good series to play in the background as I work. Thanks for shedding some light on this!
3/16/22 Update: Came across this vid again and I cannot recommend this series enough for background noise. Just coherent enough to laugh at while not being at all distracting (even with ADHD!)
