    Understanding Earth Retaining Walls
    Retaining wall (talud) is a building that is useful to increase the level of soil stability. In general, these walls are built in areas where the soil conditions are still unstable. Most retaining walls are made of masonry reinforced with a mixture of cement, sand and water. In addition, the raw materials for making this construction can also come from mortar, concrete, wood, and so on.
    The main function of the embankment is to hold the soil behind it, protect the condition of the soil in front of it, and prevent the risk of landslides. The causes can vary, such as the weight of the soil, the weight of the object, and the weight of water that is too excessive. While the specific uses of the embankment include protecting the cliff area, maintaining facilities and infrastructure, and utilizing space from a development.
    FUNCTION
    The main function of the earth retaining construction is to hold the soil behind it from the danger of landslides due to:
    Objects on the ground (pavements & road construction, bridges, vehicles, etc.)
    soil weight
    Weight of water (soil)
    Or in other words it is a pair of stones attached with a mixture of cement, sand and water to protect the cliff from the collapse of the soil.
    The special functions that can be provided by masonry are:
    Utilization of space from the construction of other types of facilities and infrastructure
    Maintenance, age support and parts of other types of facilities and infrastructure, for example:
    irrigation canal wall
    Roadside infrastructure special conditions
    And others
    Cliff protection
