Thanks! I ordered the same car (but 2018 model) in February and it was due June. Big delay because the model has had to go through tests again - maybe EU6, I don't know. Now I will be getting 2019 model in November. I have a Panamera 4S diesel (420bhp, 0-62 4.3sec, 177mph) which is amazingly fast and economical but impractical with a dog. When the delay was notified, I toyed with cancelling and getting the new model Cayenne S petrol which is fast, fairly economical and a great drive. I stuck with the Rangie though and your review has confirmed I've done the right thing. Anyone want to buy a Panamera 4S - 5600 miles in 18 months, 45mpg, cost £113k, now £74k. Staggering depreciation for a spotless car that doesn't look like it's been sat in! Although, probably the same as the Range Rover.
Great job with the video. Range Rovers have come a long, long way since June 1970. Today's Range Rover is truly a luxury car with the appearance of being coach built (like back in the day of the P5 Rover 3-litres and later P5B Rover 3.5-litre cars). Wonderful job with this presentation. Makes me want to go back to owning a "Rover product" again. Thank you very much!
I have that same dog. Well, my family at least. Miniature Schnauzer. Being that we have that same dog and my dad has been looking at this car for a month or two. You helped me convince him to get one!!! It's the nicest SUV ever. The one we got is the "long wheel" base one and it has massage seats in the front and back. Very nice.
I love it when people say "Range Rovers are not reliable". 2007 is when it changed, along with the reliability. I just leased a 2017 full sized V8 Super Charged. The new command system is SO much better than the one they are showing here.
All manufacturers have reliability issues. I can only speak from personal experience of the brand. I never had a major issue with any of my 3 Land Rover vehicles.

I've had a couple of RR. They are in my opinion the best car on the road for comfort & practicality. The interior is sublime & the handling unbelievable for such a huge car. They are by far my favourite car. The down side is that when they go wrong, you need a 2nd mortgage for the repair bill. Eg a self levelling suspension unit needed replacing on mine (at the rear) after 45k miles... £8000 I was quoted. Apparently the body needed to be lifted off the chassis to undertake the work. That's £8k + the eye watering depreciation. You simply daren't run one outside of warranty. Forget owning a 5yr+ old one, unless you are very well heeled as they will burn you financially.
I love this Range Rover video of yours Peter it is everything in oppulence a top of the range Range Rover should have, completely over the top yet if we all had £100K to spend on a 4x4 this is probably what we'd all buy. The new Velar by Range Rover is now in my opinion the most beautiful sculpted and designed 4x4 you can buy I cannot wait til you get one of those to video. Super video and bravo to Mrs Ped for her "aggresive" driving style and what a well behaved dog!!!!
The Velar does look very nice. I hope to get it one day, I'm still waiting for the Disco 5. Our dog is indeed brilliant on the car, she just loves it. Anything as long as she is with us !
can you do a vid comparing the vogue to RR sport? I'm thinking of buying one and cant decide wether the vogue is too large/impractical for city driving vs. giving up some luxury for a smaller SUV Would you care to advise?
I enjoyed this but two things, 1. You can not get dual screen (sat nav/tv) 2. Latest has dual screens, how about coming to Scotland too test your loan cars
Not sure I understand you point. This car has a dual mode screen showing TV and Sat Nav at the same time. I clearly show it in the video ?! Hoping to come up to Scotland and do the North Coast 500 some time this year :-)

Depreciation might be an issue ! I've had 3 vehicles from Land Rover and over a combined 100,000+ miles never really had an issues. I hear horror stories of course but I think it's down to luck !
Love this style of video Mr Ped. Did get a peep at Mrs Ped in the rear view mirror, and the dog my partner and I hope to get soon on the back seat. Lovely review, quick side note, you stated you struggle for a parking space, if Sir shopped in waitrose or Mark's and Spencer instead they make their spaces extra wide for those of a disconcerting nature.
We've had them here for about six or seven years, but they're not widely adopted yet. Before that, we had something called "traffic circles," which are a bit different. But when I was in Cornwall a while back and saw the signs for double and triple roundabouts, I was awestruck.
Good practical review. Sporty looking Mrs. Ped and she looks like she handles the wheel well too in the big Rover and at speed. So overall good. I'm looking a Sport myself.

My father bought one of these (Autobiography). It got delivered last month and is already back in the shop for the infotainment system and cameras not working. He is a fan, but for me objectively just a bit dissapointing for a 120k car really...
My dads old Passat didn't have a single problem for 4 years he has now bought a new Passat GTE and it's even better, but unbelievably overpriced since its $55000 without extras. But it's a great car. But I would have bought an A6 or a BMW 530 for the same price though

Everyone be WARNED! This car is a gamble. There is many parts on the car (probably chinese) that where cheaply purchased by land rover and have manufacturing defaults. The car will be on watchdog soon. It should have been recalled and land rover know all about it and why. If you have missed or been late for a service they will not pay more then 50% if your lucky, of the cost of a new engine (£28000). Unless you take up a law suit with them, they will try to get out of it. Ive had 2x v8 diesel autobiography and 2x new engines. My freind had a new engine in his, My solicitor is making a career from land rover and another freind who works in land rover service, has seen many of these range rovers with this this insact problem. In the sump is a sensor that controls all the oil level reading/oil pressure light/oil top up litre light on the dash and it also may have something to do with your due sevice alert on dash as that didn't work either. This sensor is oviosly ment to be sealed. But the oil it is ment to read gets inside it and oviosly makes it all fail. If you get a oil leak or even go over a service GOOD LUCK you will need super powers X ray vision! 3000miles over your service, they will try and get out of it. Even if you was late on a service 10 services prior to the incident, even years before the incident. They will try to say that this is the reason for the faulty sensor what fills up with the oil that it is ment to be reading. And until you get a solicitor they will try to throb you off and only honer you 50% of a £28000 engine.

Oh Ped! On the motorway, there are other lanes available rather than being a bit arrogant and staying in lane 3 even if 1 and 2 are empty or lightly-occupied. Tut tut! Ooo, good question ! I think as an overall package nothing comes close to the Range Rover and I am confident it would be much better off-road. However the SQ7 felt quicker in a straight line. They are both very poised through the corners. Also, I only drove the SQ7 for a short time so didn't really have enough time in it !
Great review and so practical. Just ordered a new SE in British Racing Green for delivery in March 2018. Had FFRR's before but moved to Disco 4's. Don't like the new Disco 5 shape so back to FFRR.
I've owned Freelander, Discovery and Range Rover Sport over a period of 8 years and never had any major dramas. I know they have a dodgy reputation though 🤔
That's a tough one ! The RR has a much more luxurious feel and I spent more time with it too so also liked how relaxing it was to drive over long distances. The SQ7 is a mighty impressive car that certainly felt faster and my sporty. For the money a great choice. However, if I had £100k to spend on a big SUV I would buy the RR Sport SVR (I've reviewed that too !). A simply awesome car, fantastic spec and just THE BEST NOISE !

WOW! Diesel is more than 50% cheaper here in Virginia USA than there (it would have only cost £22.38 here).

Petrol Ped I've got a 2008 that has been very reliable with the Jag 4.2 supercharged. 155kmi and it runs strong.

We've had them here for about six or seven years, but they're not widely adopted yet. Before that, we had something called "traffic circles," which are a bit different. But when I was in Cornwall a while back and saw the signs for double and triple roundabouts, I was awestruck.
Good practical review. Sporty looking Mrs. Ped and she looks like she handles the wheel well too in the big Rover and at speed. So overall good. I'm looking a Sport myself.

My father bought one of these (Autobiography). It got delivered last month and is already back in the shop for the infotainment system and cameras not working. He is a fan, but for me objectively just a bit dissapointing for a 120k car really...

My dads old Passat didn't have a single problem for 4 years he has now bought a new Passat GTE and it's even better, but unbelievably overpriced since its $55000 without extras. But it's a great car. But I would have bought an A6 or a BMW 530 for the same price though
So if i was in the market for either, range rover, range rover sport or discovery (5)... for family of 4... which one would YOU choose? Since you had all 3 cars 👍😄, which one is smoothest & quietest to drive?
If you’ve got the budget it’s a no brainier…Range Rover 👍 Disco 5 will give you the most space. Sport is the most dynamic to drive 👍

YES ...filling up with the filler nozel away from the pump. ..helps with the "shake" to get the last drops out of the pipe.

You are looking at 38-40 to the gallon but please look into the crankshaft bearing issues with the engine, not the most reliable at all.

This car is a gamble.
There is many parts on the car (probably chinese) that where cheaply purchased by land rover and have manufacturing defaults.
The car will be on watchdog soon.
It should have been recalled and land rover know all about it and why. If you have missed or been late for a service they will not pay more then 50% if your lucky, of the cost of a new engine (£28000). Unless you take up a law suit with them, they will try to get out of it.
Ive had 2x v8 diesel autobiography and 2x new engines. My freind had a new engine in his, My solicitor is making a career from land rover and another freind who works in land rover service, has seen many of these range rovers with this this insact problem.
In the sump is a sensor that controls all the oil level reading/oil pressure light/oil top up litre light on the dash and it also may have something to do with your due sevice alert on dash as that didn't work either.
This sensor is oviosly ment to be sealed. But the oil it is ment to read gets inside it and oviosly makes it all fail. If you get a oil leak or even go over a service GOOD LUCK you will need super powers X ray vision!
3000miles over your service, they will try and get out of it. Even if you was late on a service 10 services prior to the incident, even years before the incident. They will try to say that this is the reason for the faulty sensor what fills up with the oil that it is ment to be reading. And until you get a solicitor they will try to throb you off and only honer you 50% of a £28000 engine.
How can engine cost 28000 you think would want to hush it up and repair cheap

Great review what's better to drive Range Rover or AUDI SQ7
Ooo, good question ! I think as an overall package nothing comes close to the Range Rover and I am confident it would be much better off-road. However the SQ7 felt quicker in a straight line. They are both very poised through the corners. Also, I only drove the SQ7 for a short time so didn't really have enough time in it !

Great review and so practical. Just ordered a new SE in British Racing Green for delivery in March 2018. Had FFRR's before but moved to Disco 4's. Don't like the new Disco 5 shape so back to FFRR.

Are the newer Range Rovers more reliable than the former model?
I've owned Freelander, Discovery and Range Rover Sport over a period of 8 years and never had any major dramas. I know they have a dodgy reputation though 🤔

Hi great review how would you compare this to the SQ7 you recently tested out? which would you prefer?
That's a tough one ! The RR has a much more luxurious feel and I spent more time with it too so also liked how relaxing it was to drive over long distances. The SQ7 is a mighty impressive car that certainly felt faster and my sporty. For the money a great choice. However, if I had £100k to spend on a big SUV I would buy the RR Sport SVR (I've reviewed that too !). A simply awesome car, fantastic spec and just THE BEST NOISE !
