Eh, NO. It's changed quite a bit. This V8 is more of the Euro variety with the flat-plane crankshaft evening out the exhaust pulses between cylinder banks, resulting in the "buzz" exhaust note. I'm frankly disappointed. This thing sounds like a damn toothbrush motor. The previous carried the cross-plane crank producing uneven exhaust pulses and that classic growling, rumble. I'll miss it.
If you've heard the C7R and C8R live in person, you can clearly tell a difference. A pushrod V8 compared to the new DOHC V8 is a new game, the C8R had the loudest backfire compared to any other there while downshifting it sounded like a gunshot. Miss that C7R rumble though.
Top Grade !!!! Smooth, and beautiful around corners . Crazy ride .Thanks for the upload and to the drivers , drive hard , keep the passion and stay safe.
I hope you get to. The car that was the craziest to experience was the porsche though, i saw it on the back straight alone mid-race and you can hear it the WHOLE way. It was so loud it sounds like a warplane from ww2. Its insane. In T1 everytime it blasted by and downshifted it truly just roared. @@KemEasie
I am surprised that this big of a flat plane engine can and has stayed together since it’s debut. I knew if any team could it would be Team Corvette. The Juggernaut has returned!
If the 5.5L DOHC FPC V8 in the C8 has a decently short 82.5mm stroke with a 103mm bore(SBC 4.4 inch bore spacing) then staying together would be fairly easy.
JUST WATCHED THE C7R AND YOU'RE RIGHT THE OLD ENGINE SOUNDED MEAN AND POWERFUL. BUT THE STABILITY AND TRACTION THIS CAR HAS OVER THE OLD ONE IS NIGHT AND DAY. THE C7R STRUGGLED FOR GRIP OUT OF EVERY CORNER THIS GUY SEEMS LIKE HE JUST PINS IT EVERYWHERE.
@@user-zj2mb3sp3x the c7r had 5.5 l motor , you have ta go back to the c5 and for a wile the c6 I believe ran the 427 . C7r sounds good to , got a mean bark but you can hear the difference in displacement .
The Corvette is America’s contribution to the world and I’m so proud of that. You can buy a corvette, a truck, a trailer, and probably hire a small pit crew for the same amount of money you would need to spend on a singular Ferrari, and the Corvette is still at the very least competitive with them.
So proud of Corvette! I hope yall are able to convert over to GT3 and keep running!
Already in the works for 2022
They have to. The monry involved in developing the car can't be wasted
maybe lmdh who knows
Or... Wait for Callaway 👀 ain't a bad idea tho.
Corvette will continue in GT3 in 2022 with major BOP
I miss the C7.R thundering V8 but you can't use that as an excuse for the performance this new car brings.
The engine hasn't changed much, the C7R drove into the noise, the C8R is leaving the noise behind

Kickin' ass and taking names.

Consistent , perfect, smooth, passing on the outside in turns, insane..

Dude is a MONSTER on the brakes
Man these guy's have the best job in the world.
Those downshifts are fierce!
In T1 the stands shook when they downshifted and sometimes the car would let out a really loud pop that would send a voilent shake into my seat
@@12th.jahlil Definitely putting it on my list to experience that at least once

Simply amazing how much further into the corner you can push the car, has all they other manufacturers nervous 😂
I keep trying to watch this fully, but I can't. That damn v8 sounds so good it puts me to sleep, it's like a high octane lullaby, lol.
It’s 1:50am and I can’t sleep. It’s this or exploring the universe videos. I’ll go with the C8 wailing music. To hell with sleep!
i miss that old school V8 RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The BEST MUSIC OF ALL TIME!!!!!
The LMP3 drivers have to be upset that a GT car is walking their ass down!
Why should they? Many of them were AMs who were just happy to be there.
That won’t last. The rule makers will get out their pens and restrict them or add weight. Never fails
I was just thinking that. That must be an interesting feeling for the LMP drivers.
Man! Corvette going for broke! Respect to the driver.
Congrats on the win . Missing the sound of the ls7 , sounds like a Honda with a lower rev limit now !

Probably the most disappointing sound in all of motorsport.
