I just got my Z422 with the 60" deck and wide tires. I have 6.6 hours and I love it! Some one mentioned the gas gauge; I like that there is no float in the tank and no dial on the dash. Just look at the fuel tank visible through the slot, simple, direct, nothing to break! I have a fairly rough lot to mow and the suspension seat is very comfy. The arm rests are also adjustable, I'm glad of that because I have long arms; I adjusted them slanted down. They also fold up out of the way if you want. This unit has the Hydro-Gear ZT-3600 transmissions which are right in the middle of Hydro-Gears commercial transmission line-up. Mine weighs 954#; someone already commented on the ROPS rating. Chops up the grass and throws it out, no more wind-rows of grass like I used to get with my Kubota BS1860. My lawn looks so much better! Maintenance is super simple. This is a serious machine for residential use 2-5 acres, and is a solid mower for someone starting a lawn care business. Buy one!
I looked at badboy, spartan, john deere, and the smaller kubota, but I wanted some little more beefier so I went with this model, better warranty etc very comfortable seat and ride - Never had or been on a zero turn - it’s hard to figure out how to cut sideways especially along the road ditches
Love the larger fuel tank. don’t like that the right transaxle fan is hidden, left side is visible & i sprayed the crap off the fan last time i cleaned it up. Don’t like that the lever to disengage the transaxle on the right side doesn’t lock out(the left one does); if you’re stuck, you’ll understand what i’m saying. Just in case, i keep a pair of vice grips to lock that transaxle out if i get stuck...got mine stuck once the first week i had it. Not a fan of that window fuel gauge. So far i love mine...13 hours on it.
I have a Z422 and it came with the narrow tires I had the dealer order me the wide tires an wheels . I have a ditch across my property it has a pretty good grade the wider tires do a better job on the hills.
Thanks for the good review on the Kubota zero turn.... I am also looking at the 422 and need something comfortable since I have a neck injury and need to keep the pounding to a minimum..... Can you comment more on the comfort as a result of the suspension seat?
It’s pretty comfortable and the seat helps. About as good as it gets unless you got a full suspension Ferris or something. Better than my dads John Deere. This seat is pretty comfortable
Go get it. Ive had cervical disc replacement and lower lumbar surgery. Plus I have an internal pain pump dripping medicine in my lower spine. This mower is smooth as silk. The only thing I've noticed is after I get through is my left upper arm is a little soar and that could be me gripping to tight or not adjusting my seat yet. I just bought mine and have only cost grass twice. No mower has lasted past 5 years with deck issues. This mower is the best riding mower that I have ever been on and I'm 65. Be ready to shell out 8 big ones but well worth the ride for my old worn out back.
I know this is 2 years old, but maybe useful to someone. I have the same mower, 2023 model. I bought the larger 24x12x12 wheels/tires when I bought the mower. Think it was another $1000 for them. It took a couple weeks for them to come in, so I had time to mow with the skinnier tires first. My property is far from level, grades, ditches. I can say the wider tires definitely handled the slopes better. Especially when it's moist. Might be a worthy upgrade to someone. No clearance issues either.
That is not the machine weight, that is the rops certification weight. Yours weighs 918 pounds, a JD Z730 weighs 965 pounds. Your kubota is a far better mower. Subscribed. I have a 21 Rancher 420 footshift, love it. Would you do a review of your Dad's tractor? Thanks.
I won't to know how wide it is across the deck. I have a 60 inch wide tralor. I know the manual on the 54 Kubota says 67 inch wide. But I'm thinking that is with the deflector down.
But man, this mower, can take on high pasture grass with no issue. It's has some power to it. And on the comments on the John Deere are 100% correct. At our church I do ground maintenance for our lawns where we have a John Deere. On my ranch I have a Z422 no matter the terrain difference, the Z422 chassis doesn't flex a single bit. Just amazing how study it is. I'm about 10 hours on mine and couple times I have hit tree branches on my ranch. Will need to check and blades and see how it's looking like.
Interesting find on the weight. Spec sheet says 918 pounds I'm looking at this same mower vs. JD 730M. How many acres you mow? Oh and I have a 16 Rubicon Deluxe white DCT with 39% gear reduction.
I mow at my dads house which is 16 acres but probably 7 get mowed. I mow our shop which is about 4 to mow and I mowed my uncles about 7 or so acres of hard steep hills and had no issues. So far I love it. Got 15 hours on it now. Got me a 21 DCT being held for me right now.
Just the seat track, on the same schedule as the front wheels, every 50 hours. Sealed bearings on the spindles and mower link bushings. Maintenance is easy on this machine.
@@timvalli3270 Which one did you get. There are 2 the same size but one has a few different features. There was a difference in prices. Still 6000 was a good deal
1338 lbs!? Dude that’s the GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT! That’s the maximum fully load weight it can withstand! The actual weight right off the brochure is 918 lbs. and you said it’s pretty light lol. Brain freeze. It’s hard to take you seriously when you don’t know 101 about mechanical things. Seriously gross vs net weight is really basic knowledge.
@@JacobOverman I thought that was heavy but people acting like they've never made a mistake before is wild! Thanks for the review. Thinking of giving my Husqvarna to my daughter and buying one of these.
Need to get your facts straight. JD Z720 weighs 1,050 pounds full of fuel. Z970R with Kawasaki 1000 is 1,345. Z994R Diesel is 1,760 and the Z997R is 2,000 pounds! Your mower full of fuel weighs just over 1,000. So the truth is your mower and your dads weight about the same and are built about the same. I have no idea where you got all your weights from. Go check specs on all these mowers. Everything is trash these days. I have 2017 Kubota ZD1211 24.8hp Diesel 72 inch cut with 410 farm hours sitting in the Kubota shop right now getting $4,700 worth of repairs done to it. Things that should not happen at 400 hours on an INDUSTRIAL grand machine like I have. Needs new gear box on deck, hydro's need work and it has a bad radiator, leak on lower right side. Deck leveling gear is bad so as you can see, for and industrial grade machine, that is pretty bad with only 410 hours. And I have done all maintenance and greasing of machine after they did the break in service at 50 hours. Pretty disappointed in it and Kubota.
Well I don’t know what all I said in this video and how accurate I was or wasn’t. What I do know is my dad did recently buy a new kubota diesel and has sold it with less than 20 hours on it. Multiple times back to dealer in the first few months. Not impressed
@@JacobOverman You were just off on the weight of the machines was all. My zd1211 has been a pretty good machine up til now, but with everything thats gone wrong its not acceptable for a $22,000 machine. And they've gone up 33% since 2017. I gave $14,700 for mine new. I was looking at the 422 like yours as a back up and to mow around the house but the Bad boy Maverick HD 60" vanguard efi 28hp is $600 cheaper and my Kubota dealer sells them too. Also been looking at Bobcat ZT3500 61"

Just got mine 2 months ago. Got 6 hours on it. Cuts great and is good on hills.
Bought my Z422KW this morning. Can hardly wait to use it.
Exciting.
Just bought the z422. Love it. Be careful you'll be looking at the sky on its backend. Did it twice 1st run. Ive cut grass yesterday for 2nd time.
I have the same one, finally did my 8 hour oil and filter change, cutting 2 acres- still trying to get use to the speed of it at half throttle

I just received mine yesterday. It's the 1st zero I ever had. I hope it serve me well. I have just over 3 acres to mow.
I’ve got 16 hours on mine so far. No complains.

I have the same machine it’s making chirping noises when I move it
nice truck
Thank you
Does floor pan come out, to service belt?
Yes
I wish it came with a more heavy duty front tire I keep getting flats
If you are getting flats you need to clean up the sharp crap in your yard. Again 101.
Were u get your oil an filter from an how much oil does it holds
Lowe's...$15...i use mobile 1 full synthetic 10w40

Didn't come here for a John Deere critique. And the mower doesn't weigh 1300+ pounds. So how does it cut? Does it stick to hills? Never mind.
