- Secret Life is an odd mix of a Social and PvP Minecraft game started by Grian. Players are thrown into a tiny world with almost no rules, except survive as long as possible.
In Secret Life, players are given a random secret task to complete before the episode is over which rewards up to 10 hearts or bonus items. Easy Tasks can be rerolled once into a Hard Task which rewards up to 20 hearts or bonus items, but carries the penalty risk of losing 10 hearts if you fail it. If someone guesses your secret, it is no longer a secret, and you fail the secret task.
3 Lives = Green Player
2 Lives = Yellow Player
1 Life = Red Player
Red Players are given the goal of killing all the other players in the game.

Im a bit confused on the rules. Etho correctly called out Tango's task. Does that not mean that Tango fails his task? Thus sucessfully completing Ethos task?
I was a little confused on the rules during this session as well which is why I asked Grian about it. Green names can call out other people's tasks but the other person only fails if they (choose) to confirm the guess is correct because then it is no longer a secret. Yellow names can make 1 guess per person each episode and the green names are (required) to confirm if the guess is correct or not. Tango didn't confirm it when I called him out so his secret wasn't revealed.
I thought it was successful because tango confirmed it was his task (ie told him his task, thus failing it)
Tango's task said nothing about losing if he gets called out and had no losecondition at all, which seems a bit like an oversight. Therefore it didn't count when Etho called him out. The only chance for him to fail would've been not doing it at all or being called out by a yellow but those are "universal" loseconditions

Best season of Etho so far! Ten years of this and it literally keeps getting better!
The first task was SO easy.
All he had to do was wait at the button for someone to come by and press it. Then ask what their task was and say _"Me too!!"_ Then make up a story about how you passed it. Then go to press the button, they tell you that you failed by revealing it. And now you have proof you convinced them! You can even pretend to be upset for fun!

Ive watched the "i love you" scene from so many perspectives, and Etho's HAS to be the funniest. Got tears in my eyes.
I’ve gone through every CC’s session 3 video (that was there) and skipped to that scene just to see it from the different POVs 😂

I love the physical comedy that Etho often does by just building small walls in front of people. He does that surprisingly often, and it's so simple, unique and funny haha

I think Etho’s task is meant as a way to counter Martyn’s and Skizz’s task considering they both have the same tasks
yeah it is, etho had a chance when skizz asking him about the task, but sadly etho answer it wrongly to convice they both has the same task

When you found out Scar is breaking torches, I thought you immediately saw your chance there. Scar is pretty obvious with his tasks and I think if you pretty obviously broke torches around him, he would probably pick up on that.

Yeah, but Etho has to be called out as doing the same task by Scar, and I think it's very possible Scar would either be oblivious or not explicitly call out Etho in order to not reveal his own task.

Yeah, I was like "ooh! new secret life video" (I was sick and felt really dead) and then I clicked on it and saw "Cleo's looking at the sky!" I smiled because of how wholesome the intro was, and then came the "Or she could've been hit by a car" and I burst out laughing.
For Tango's task, I bet Etho could have shadowed Tango for the rest of the round and pretended to be Tango's imaginary friend by responding to everything Tango says, making him fail it.

Thank God Martyn didn't ask etho if he had the same task as him. He would have failed hard because he and skizz had to figure out who has the same task as them.
Also this season it is good watching others episode first to witness the how confused etho looks everytime he is interacting with someone.
I think it would be deliberate that ethos task was in the same group as that one. Because people would be more willing to believe they had the same task

Task idea: use only the chat to communicate until another player is convinced you have mic issues, and then audio jumpscare them. They can't see you coming or you fail

Etho guessing the task didn’t make Tango fail, but Tango telling Etho he was correct should have made him fail. Others have failed for the same reason.

My favorite episode of life series so far. I cant get over Impulse's impression of etho going "Did it make you juuuump?"
TASK IDEA: imitate the personality/mannerisms of every player you interact with for 30 minutes. If you get caught restart the clock!
Replace "the person" with "Scar". It would be very funny to see someone act or play like Scar.
The only problem with the getting caught is that if you do a good job you fail. I think it would be a non-fail task, now that Yellows can guess it

My idea was to steal the pass button thing they press to complete their task so no one can complete a task (unless Grian interfered) Then just try and figure out someone task after no one can complete them.

I love Etho and Cleo's friendship, they just seem to really get each other humor-wise and have a great time.
Task idea: mimic another minecrafter well enough to get 3 people to correctly guess who your mimicing. you can't directly ask them to guess.

I agree! I think he’s just really enjoying play secret life and decked out. And those are both things that are easy to record a few hours of and then he just has to edit it down. I’m glad he’s have stuff he really enjoys right now, it’s a win win for everyone!

Tango technically told Etho what his task was by agreeing with him. Grian said you aren't supposed to reveal your secret so even if Tango was claiming to "lie" he still revealed his secret regardless because Etho guessed it.
You are allowed to answer if someone guess it
Cleo and etho Interactions are the best.

I’m so grateful for these mini series that the hermits do. Gives everyone so much more of a together vibe. And also nice to see the hermits goofing around all at the same time
Irony is that if he stuck with the first task, he was able to figure out Tango's task perfectly and he could've easily copied that too.

It's so cool that Cleo and Etho had such a fun time bickering last season that they wanted to hang out more in this one. This server's awesome
This episode had the trifecta of perfect tasks. Two people who had to find each other because they had the same task, two people who had to have a deja vu conversation with someone, and one person who had to convince someone they have the same task. It could have gotten WAY more chaotic than it ended up being.
The sad thing is that Etho would’ve completed his task his if he went to Martyn after correctly guessing Tango’s task, because he would’ve gotten the information to Martyn before Pearl did later.

Etho's proposal to Pearl was so diabolical, I absolutely love it.
I think the moral of this episode is if you’re going to re roll do it early! Poor etho this task was so perfect for his play style but the opportunities were slim in the second half of the session.

Knowing what Skizz's task was, I can't believe the incredible luck and irony of how perfect it was for Etho to have that task and run into Skizz immediately lolll that was literally exactly what Etho needed but he just didn't know and lost it 😭
Technically, Etho figured out his own task, by reading the book. And he prevented himself from finishing, by you know, not finishing. So i think he should have succeeded. The task didn't specify it had to be someone else's task 😅

Rip, so Etho figured out Tango's task first... I think that part got cut out of Tango's video. If only he clarified with Grian earlier about the task so he could quickly snitch to the yellows before they used up all their guesses on Tango...
Love the episodes but man, I gotta say, this task as well as the task in the first week were way harder than the average task so far. Luck of the draw I guess. You're a champ for soldiering through though, how do you even stop someone from pretending they have an imaginary friend?! :P
Etho’s task on the first session was also extremely hard. I’m not sure why other people are getting tasks so easy they can finish them in 10 minutes and Etho keeps getting these extremely specific and hard to complete tasks.
@@Daktyl198 honestly, the first task was only so extra hard cause it was just the first few days of a small bordered server, so nobody had beds to steal, and no bases to put beds in! He had to get enough beds, get people to take and use them, and then come back later and take BACK 4 of the beds he’d given just before. Without getting caught too! That would’ve been half the work like multiple episodes into a server, but it still would be hard later due to the nature of it being a secret and others trying to figure it out
@@Evie0hYeah I agree. It is a task that would have been hard even a few days into the series simply due to the fact that people rarely leave their bases unless to do a task. And the playing space is so small, that even if the owner isn't at their own base, that doesn't mean that other people aren't within a distance to see you going in and out of their base. It's a hard task either way.
It was just extra hard because it was the first day and literally nobody had beds. Meanwhile other people got tasks like "convince somebody to jump off a cliff into water!" or "collect x torches". So weird.

A bit of a spoiler to BdoubleO's task, but I think Etho completed his task by technicality.
In BdoubleO's video we find out that he has to use several Gen Z words in conversation, but if they are repeated back to him it prevents it from counting toward completion. Etho's task meanwhile consists of two components: 1. Figuring out someone's task and 2. preventing them from completing it. By repeating several words back to him, Etho succeeds at preventing BdoubleO from making progress toward his task, though he is unaware of it at the moment. (Interestingly, this also occurs prior to the re-roll so its validity toward task completion is questionable). Afterwards, BdoubleO manages to say some (but not all) of the words, which results in him incorrectly qualifying his task as a success. Finally, as the session proceeds, BdoubleO and Etho have a conversation where he comfortably reveals his task to Etho, thinking he has completed it.
Through these two conversations Etho satisfied both elements of his task (admittedly in a unorthodox order) and should be retroactively awarded with successful completion.
Hmm I may be hard not understanding all that, but I think you’ve looking into it in a much more complex and technical way than it is. The tasks aren’t strict technical things, they have to improvise though it and use their own judgements to see if something counts or not since they can’t exactly consult with each other during the session on the technicalities of their secret task. It’s easy to go back over everyone’s sessions and analyze the technicalities of it all from everyone’s perspectives but we really can’t expect to have things affected after the fact or decide something was wrong in post

Task Ideas : 1. You have to get everyone on the server to say their name, without you telling them to say their name. 2. You must steal something valuable from 6 players' houses, while their in their house, without getting caught. 3. Chose a player and constanly tell them horrible puns/jokes for 30 mins of the session straight without them questioning you. ❤

Was half expecting Bdubs to say "free to boo." When Etho walked away from the failed button. Would've been a bit fitting considering what happened at the end of Decked Out 2 Phase 3.
19:15 - 19:20 is like an RPG, where you have two options, but etho went for the 3rd "everyone will remember this" option.
The new yellow life rule really hurted Etho's chances at his tasks.

One opportunity Etho had that nobody mentioned was Joel, if Etho just kept putting down water where Joel would land. And Joel's task was really obvious at that point.

definitely feels rigged or at least random within an archetype, I.e. etho keeps getting sneaky tasks, bdubs is getting builder tasks and grian/mumbo are getting social tasks
There's probably something where you submit tasks for specific Hermits, because I think that the viewers choose the tasks
@@golett0331 the viewers do not choose the tasks, some of the IDEAS for what a task can be can be submitted by viewers. We can suggest an idea for tasks through comments, and it could get picked up by someone and you’ll see the commenter credited for the idea in the book. But the players are randomly given a secret task from a collection of tasks that were put together behind the scenes. Like Skizzleman got the exact same task in his ep 2 that Scar had in his ep 1, it’s just one of the tasks in the pool of tasks to be randomly chosen from.
Edit: and I forgot to add, that Grian reminded us if a task book every has a specific players username, that username was randomly assigned to that spot of the task. So the book could be “Prevent _____ from taking more than 3 hearts of damage” and it will just fill in that blank with any of the players names and happen to land on Scar. Someone could get that task later with Tango as the name instead
