Until IU loses a Big 10 game they are not in any kind of trouble. Ballo out away from the basket gives Reaneu room to operate. Leal is hurt and looked very slow the last game. Mgbako will bounce back soon. I hope the Hoosiers get their best on ball defender in Carlyle back soon. For Coach Woody, this is time to strut your stuff and dominate tonight against MInn. That was a great new Big 10 game last night; UCLA winning on a banked in 3 at the last second. Oregon is very good as is UCLA; both well-coached and deep teams
As for IUs 3 banners, those came when the game was very different, and they had in RMK the very best at coaching teams for that era of ball. RMK was truly the successor of Wooden. But in he new era of the 3 and the shot clock, the style of play RMK excelled at, it is gone. Skills are not everything now. Athleticism is where it's at now. RMK excelled because he could turn so-so athletes into players that were championship caliber by teaching them the critical skills and hounding them to push themselves to near perfection. Athleticism cannot be taught.
Win tonight and Nebraska on Friday and the bitching will tone down. Lose either, the total opposite. I watched a ton of Washington State videos last summer and Myles drove to rim a lot & got several dunks in the half-court offense. Put up or shut up Hoosiers; time to make hay and show what you can do. Myles 50% on twos, 41% on threes and 94% at line; Gallo 48% on twos, 57% on threes and 83% a line, tell me a better shooting back court? IU 81-Minn 74; Friday Neb 73- IU 77
It’s crazy how a lot of big ten schools have already played 2 conference games and Indiana hasn’t played one yet .. and after the first 2 conference games.. play a couple of nobody schools again… if Woodson ain’t trying to buy wins with this schedule.. give me a break…doesn’t matter… he’s horrible and it will continue to show… make a change Dolson!!! And quit letting Buckner boss you around
Ineffective defense. Playing two bigs together for long stretches when the special needs kid bagging your groceries tells you the huge score differential when IU plays only one big vs two. Woody will be gone after IU misses the tournament this year and maybe they’ll hire a coach that can fill a roster with all that NIL money AND coach them up.
Players follow their coaches lead. Woodson doesn’t show any enthusiasm or even interest. He doesn’t do anything, he just sits there. He doesn’t coach or instruct. He doesn’t even respond when players make repetitive mistakes.
That's basically what I think also. The fire starts at the top. I hate to say it, but I think all that money they lavished on Woody put out his fire, and now, in his mid 60s, after 50 years of balling, he is coasting to retirement. When a very talented team is so consistently lacking in the 'effort' part of the game, and makes the same mistakes (D dissapears, giving up a ton of ORs, too many turnovers) game after game, that's on the coaches.
Tucker only shoots 17 footers, I don’t remember ever seeing him drive or shoot a 3. He gets a pass around the FT line and shoots a little fadeaway every time.
Ballo is out with the DHO bc he is one of the best if not the best rollers/lob threats in CBB. Him playing the high low up top? For sure get that out. But I don’t see a problem him being the high screener or DHO big
Woodson needs fired. He is the problem. Doesn't matter how much talent they have. Woodson cant coach or develop players. They will be at the bottom of the bigten
A lot of problems with Woodson but they won’t be bottom of the B10 and Woodson has developed players. Not great on team aspect schemes, playing together so on so forth. I do think the players lack full effort all the time outside a couple guys. Is that a coaching problem? Is that within the players?
@@claytonhowell5499 I go half and half. There is so much you can do from a coaching standpoint to demand full effort for 40min. Malik and MM are examples where they have shown that they go through the motions too much in stretches and miles Carlyle and Galloway have been so up and down that the staff can’t go out do it for them. Have to prep them and instill that
I am a Woodson skeptic, but this simply isn't true. Woodson transformed TJD and made him a top-tier college player and NBA player. Ware went from a player with potential but concerns around effort into a first round pick. Reneau has gotten better every year under Woodson. He clearly can develop players, and especially big men.
It's all about coaching and this IU team has a mediocre coach. They will be a middle of the pack team if I had to guess. Fundamentally they are terrible.defense is poor at best.
After watching IIU make a ton of unforced turnovers I watched Illinois/Northwestern slug it out for 45-minutes. The second game, all the players played with passion and purpose while the Hoosiers take possessions off. That will get you beat most Big 10 games. But I expect them to wake up and get with the program in the actual conference games. I really though Galloway would be a more vocal leader, he is the key to this team and him teaching Rice how to play.
Woodson is stubborn and listens to no one. Hence the firing of Dane Fife. He has no passion . The players have no passion playing for a school rich in tradition.
Idk about the Fife situation. Apparently it wasn’t just him vs Woody. Apparently he was not meshing with the players and some of the staff. That was early in the tenure and you can’t piss off the top guy regardless who it is
Woodson is entitled and lazy. I think he's shocked he actually has to work. Indiana needs a leader, and he's just a figurehead. Woodson is just abysmal. Needs to go immediately
The great motivator “Ass meets bench”. Unfortunately Woodson doesn’t use this tactic…

Woodson will never change. He has ran the same exact stuff since he’s been there and will continue too no matter what. 2 bigs for life.
Yup he still hasn’t figured out how to use an alternative lineup, since TJD isn’t there to cover up the issues..
Indiana needs to fire Mike Woodson!!!

In other words, Woody can't coach. IU should actually find a good basketball coach. Simple.
For the love of GOD YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
