Great shots, especially the four working together as a team, each one scraping in turn, thus each scraper getting the power of 8 Cat engines while its scraping, awesome.
Last time I saw four Scrapers hooked together the third one in line found a rock on the cab side and the pan got ripped in half.... No more four long max is two good memories.
Usually brakes the bail also does major stress to goose necks. Good way to lose any warranty left on machine. Machine not designed for that much stress.
@@wyoodrifter1811 Nope two are the most, we run Terex 14 yards (TS14G's) three if it's very good soil and we have a very long cut area. Where we ran four together was a landfill project had to move as much dirt as possible (we moved 3.5 million yards) so they could keep filling it with trash.
Wow you guys have the big jobs down south! I live in northern cal and you just don't see jobs with more than 6 scrapers on them and they don't pair up either!!! Keep on hauling
Where I work running 623s, a single engine 623 will burn give or take 100 gallons in a 9 to 10 hour shift if it's going hard the whole time and 623s are almost on the smallest end of the cat scarper line up. I'd say these would quite easily double that amount of fuel usage per single scraper per shift.
Great video as usual. Would love to see the production numbers in a long-straight pull (in sand) like this in a 2 X 2 vs. 4 X 4 as show. The benefit of combined horsepower may be/is a deeper cut but the time penalty may drive Actual production down. Teaming four guys together is visually impressive but I wonder if a 2 scraper team is more efficient? Can anyone comment on this?
With sand and lack of water in the cut, it's better to have the hp tripled and/ or quaded up. A pair would more then likely be hopping trying to get a load unless you load with you hitch up and not alway getting a full, heaped load neither. Personal experience I guess.
I ran scraper for 35 yesterday I've put 6 together before but cat guy told me one day they are designed for 2 to run together that's what I ran most years worked with 3 scrapers a lot if you can put power to the tires you can move a lot dirt but you have to work together
@@jbscotch4053 The open bowl version of the 657 has 1,102 hp, so 4 of those in push/pull would have 4,408 hp, the ones in the video are probably the coal bowl version
How thick is that layer of sand? because here in FL those scrapers hardly work except some paddle scrapers because you can't see them push and pull. already tired to fill end dumps every day 🥴
@@SoCalEarthMovers here in the orlando area i have only seen one company with 623k paddle scrapers not even seen the 627 push and pull. to tell you more, not even a D9 can be seen in this area
How the heck is anyone affording fuel for these monsters , 2 minutes per gallon, lolnice where is this job ??!! Thanks BigAl California 6.33 per gallon in California, praise Jesus grace Christ amen. Thanks BigAl California
Awesome footage socal! Love watching the 657G in action. Have a great weekend bud 🍻
Thank you😎
We have three 627’s hooked together before! The guy in the back gets a load in a hurry!! Great video👍

Nice teamwork, tier 3 power 👍
Love it! Thanks for your post.

Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Nice drone shots
Back in the day I operated TS 24s...they weren't push pulls...too old to do this now but I would like to try it...

Great video mate!
Need time lapse video on some 657s and D11s. Short deep cuts would be awesome
Those machines wear u out after a while

Even the land in the desert is valuable in SoCal...
I can not even imagine the fuel bill for this operation. That must be a fortune to run them daily. 🥴

Easy 25o gals front and back engines possibly more depending on size of scraper
@@richardperry4460 commiefornia has it at 6.35 a gallon hate this state
Jesus, hate to see the fuel bill on this job! That’s a lot of iron right there 👍
What about the size of the 'carbon footprint'...lol

I can hear the wear plates shrinking every pass, lol
What are they building in this video?
What are these for?

4 is almost certainly overkill but depending on traction they may need more than 2

Still no better way to move 200t+ of earth in one pass!
Somebody please tell me how many hp per 16 wheel cut?
According to Cat's 657 specs, the tractor @ 600HP & the scraper @ 451HP=1051 x4 = 4204 HP per cut😲
Locomotive power.

Scrapers in florida are mostly used for windrow cleanup. You might see a 623 or two here or there but normally it's the smaller ones
@@SoCalEarthMovers dam I would have made the drive to see that.

Where is that at??
reminds me of the Salton sea area for some reason
Good video and thanks for putting it up -- sooooo electric driven scrapers in the near future ??
Good luck making that power with electric, and these guys run 10 to 12 hours a day
👍✌️
Horsepower??? What horsepower. Nothing to see here😁just wish I was there.
This looks like cal-city , is t , well maybe nor , cal-city is definitely not green at all, where is this thanks BigAl California.
Why are there so many of them parked you guys need a extra scrapper hand
That's how it's done in cali
There is alway a few spares just in case one needs maintenance or breakdowns! Sometimes waiting on a operator but not likely to expensive to sit idle!
I would hate to be paying the fuel bill at current prices
Yep, I’d probably have a heart attack if someone handed me the fuel bill after operating a large fleet of these beasts for a while!
If y’all are looking for apprentice let me know😂
