Interestingly enough the Happy Mask Salesman does have dialog written for Link wearing the giant's mask so it's possible that wearing it outside of the one fight it's required for was considered in development.
Downside is if you use a code that lets you use any item anywhere without a proper mod that lets you do it will result in a few issues.
1. Giants mask immediately soft locks the game.
2. Fierce deity link will go in a slash spree and can't stop.
As for 3ds version the fierce deity link overflow was actually patched but the giants mask soft lock wasn't.
I didn't read the full interview, but I saw one of the developers said that at one point, the Fierce Deity mask and giant's mask were once one in the same, and they split it up into two because it was just too OP. Most likely you were meant to be able to use the giant's mask anywhere, but they ran out of time to fully test it and just relegated it to be used against Twinmold to have something to show for it.

I'm pretty sure the Giant's mask actually takes you to a smaller version of the boss room, so I'm curious how they did this.

This is correct! It’s actually a smaller boss room and what’s crazy is it’s actually located above the main big room. If you go high enough in the big room you clip into the little one without wearing giants mask
I'm sure you know, but you can do an Equip Swap to equip other masks in giant form, and giant Fierce Deity Link is incredibly huge

I've always wanted to use masks like the Giant's mask and the Fierce Deity's mask outside of their respective areas, so this is the other half of a dream come true.
in one random run I found out that the fierce deity can run straight through the guards of the entrance of the Deku Palace. It was a funny coincidence that I found out.

All the ocarina of time videos have been really cool too it would be awesome to see a twilight princess video sometime though that's my favorite game even though mm was amazing as well

I was today years old when I learned the Keaton mask can be used for anything other than the quest it's found in. I genuinely had to look up whether the Keaton had been modded in. Majora's Mask is just full of secrets!
I've gamesharked MM to let me always use my c button regardless of limitations and everytime I would use Giants Mask this way it would crash the game. Good on the Rando Creators for fixing that because I've always wanted to do this

I remember trying to get this to work in any area with an Action Replay code back in the Gamecube era and it never worked. Now I know what it would have been like.
I used a gameshark to put the giants mask on anywhere and the game corrupted and I had to start over

The one thing you didn't do that I was hoping you would have period is when you're on top of the tower, when you're supposed to play Oath to order, I really wish you would have used the giant mask then to see if you could touch the moon or hit the skull kid or if you could jump off the tower. You didn't even show that part

Wow, interesting that giant link can just "smack" the rock that blocks the path to the ranch.
If you consider the short development time of the game, this might be even the the "intended" way to get there. But it was absolutely impossible to optimize the world for both sizes of link so they might have replaced it with the powder-keg and smacking the rock as giant link never got removed from the code?
My native language is Spanish so I hope you can understand what I have to say, back in 2013 on my third time using the majoras mask at 100%, when I was walking by the pillars that are outside the clock tower and that They are heading towards the desert temple, when looking at the objects the giant mask had been unlocked to activate, without a doubt I tried to activate it very quickly and what happened was that Link started doing the animation and stayed there, doing the animation in a loop You know, the effects came out of his face, that cone-shaped light, it was very special for me at that moment even though I couldn't transform.

can i just say how cursed this seed run was can i ask how many check u needed to get before u got last maskfrom wut i see at least zora mask from day 3 in chest->zora->zora or glitched grotto for new wave+shield from eel chest->great bay from bow->snow head thats nere imposable without a time reset glitch and u also needed the mask or a glitch to get the fairy (maybe even giant mask can work to get it) hell lets say u dont need the bow at all u still needed the song and zora to get the shield basically super scuffed
