    I love these cars and this was another great review, buddy ! Little known fact: The Z3 was based on the E36 Compact. I owned one of those as my first car and loved it. Pedals are great for heel&toe btw...I wish BMW still made small light cars like this. Keep the videos coming !

      @autonauts  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I was in such a hurry to shoot the video before the car went to its new owner, that I neglected to give all those important technical facts! Oops! In any case, the Z3 Coupe is a very cool piece of engineering, I'd really like to own a Z3 M Coupe some day--if the non-M Z3 is so much fun to drive, the Z3 M must be totally bonkers. Thanks for the comment, Guido!

    You talk about the wide rear fenders not being on the roadster, but my 99 2.3 definitely has them. It just depends on the version.

    Is it worth paying more for a 3.0 versus a 2.5 l? Doesn't make that much of a difference two paid 1 to $2,000 more for it?

    really cant "top" the Z3 3.0 convertible, if you live in mild climate

    production #s of convertible 279.273 vs 2,071 of z3 coupe 2,858 Mcoupe. Big difference, good review though the lack of experience with that manual transmission is what kept you from really having fun with that auto at higher limits, i've driven that auto many times before and have yet to find a more complacent, communicative auto with such a short wheelbase aside of elise, feel brave shut DSC OFF

    • @autonauts
      @autonauts  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, there was quite a big difference in the production numbers! I definitely had a great time with the car, and I really liked the manual transmission. I wasn't rev-matching on downshifts, because I'm still learning that technique. The few times I have shut off DSC, it was a great driving experience as it really requires you to focus on the drive. Thanks for your comment!

    does it make sense to get a car like this or the roadster convertible today? it's date and I wonder if there are enough parts to go around just in case. When i saw these and the convertible when I was in high school 15 years ago, I told my self i'll own one someday and now that I can, I'm not exactly sure anymore. :)

      Jozhua Amahit parts are there. the running gear is a z3, coupe or convertible. these vehicles are a blast to drive. even when it is sitting in your garage it still brings on a grin just knowing you have one.

      @autonauts  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jozhua Amahit Let's just say that I regret selling mine. Like azthundercloud said, the parts are around, and there is a big community surrounding these cars from which you can get info. My Z3 3.0 Coupe had about 105,000 miles on it when I sold it, it was rock solid still, and more than once uninformed onlookers told me they thought it was a brand new BMW. Sometimes I laughed. Go for it! You only live once and the Z3 is a special machine.

    These are becoming great classic, while their M version coupe is already regarded as a collector...
    I never really liked BMW as a general luxury car maker... but when their engineers and designers open the valves, they can create some of the greatest cars ever:
    Z1, Z8, Z3 Coupe, M1, 3.0 CSL Batmobile, M3 CSL... And please don't bother me with the i8, yes it looks good and has great technology, but can't come even close to cars like the aforementioned...

      RamboLambo002 I also like the BMW 840/850 from a design perspective. However, I've never driven one.

    This was also a really nice review, but you really have to do something about the intro to the video. 16 seconds of the logo is just too long time, especially because it's mostly static. When we take a look at the large car channels like /Drive and MotorTrend, they both have very short intros (/Drive's being less than 2.5 seconds long). If anything, just remove the intro and make an outtro - it'll keep the viewer attention much higher and it'll really help you get out there.

    • @autonauts
      @autonauts  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the input! This channel will likely be growing and changing for some time, so these kind of comments are quite helpful. Much appreciated!

    Very nice, this BMW. In the video, you are able to ride in flip-flops, or you've driven barefoot better?

    • @autonauts
      @autonauts  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment, I have to go barefoot while in the car, driving a manual with flip-flops on is still out of my reach :)

    • @ilfred6857
      @ilfred6857 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very well. I drive a manual car, and I also, I drive barefoot when I wear flip-flops. Although Italy is also allowed to drive in flip flops. as well as barefoot, I argue that barefoot driving much better and safer, and sensibility.

    • @autonauts
      @autonauts  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Crosley Chicco
      It is definitely allowed to drive in flip flops here, but I'm not able to do it yet at my skill level! Barefoot driving can be better, with a manual transmission.

    • @ilfred6857
      @ilfred6857 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      AutoNauts Yes, much better to drive barefoot, in this case. The flip-flops can cause problems on the pedal. better not to risk it. I myself, as I said, I drive better barefoot.

      Thanks KROHN27! I'm using a 7D and a GoPro. For audio I have a simple lapel mic clipped on my shirt, and hooked up to an older GoPro in my pocket. A workaround, for now.

    You sold your z3 Coupe? It's not like you're gonna benefit from a convertible in Oregon (?). Somehow: "we reject most what we resemble most" may apply here. Which, pray tell, car fits you better, do you own now?
