Special thanks to @mybrotherdonnie for his music selections during the painting section of the video. It shows the class and refinement he exudes on his videos.
More killer work from the Lyons bros. This machine is really looking handsome now. …. What a great game this will be for the lucky person who buys it. ‘Beam me up Scott I’m ready to ride- It’s Captain Kirk on the Enterprise’. Thanks for the great video boys.
The humor and sarcasm eevry time you do the fast play with Joe "Waxing the the "Play Field" kills me every time.. the 70's vibe with the bass line and triangle chime and a lady's sexy soft overlay.. LOL..!!!
This one is a drastic restoration for sure. Amazing. Very much looking forward to seeing the electronics portion. The colors really pop now, and I bet with the rest of the lights it's going to be awesome.
Very talented,... 👍Here in Germany is a dealer who offers around this lighting on the pinball plate, these black rings in all sizes for sticking on,... looks in the big picture,... very good!!!! ✌😆
Damn, Ron! This is a heck of an overhaul. I think you were too hard on yourself on the cabinet paint. It looks awesome! Thanks for saving that baby from the landfill!
Hmmm, I came to see Star Trek, and found myself watching "The Flash" at work for about 10 minutes. Must be the flash, that would have taken me HOURS, but you guys are so fast it was
It looks good but it doesn't do anything... I know a few people like that! Lookin' forward to seein' this baby play! It's looking incredible and I'm sure you'll get it working as good as it looks.
I am absolutely floored with how well this is turning out! Not that I doubt y'alls skills! Im prolly thinking about my skills and how bad it would still look if I was trying to save her.
It just depends on the game, on this particular one we did it because Joe had some time to work on cleaning it up, and I was busy working on the electronics of another game. So it was just a timing issue
The transformation is just amazing. I have a question. I collect and restore old computers and I have done a few "rescues" from similar places. One thing I've had to battle a couple of times is stink. Did this machine end up with any kind of smell? How did you deal with it? Or did you luck out and it didn't pick up any odor?
This one literally was sitting in a mobile home, with no front door, and the back wall had about 10 feet of it missing.... so it was basically sitting out in the open air and had lots of air circulation, it just didn't get rained on because the living room roof wasn't leaking. So it didn't smell believe it or not, because it was essentially outside! We've had them smell in the past though and yeah that's a big pain, it depends on if it's something on it, or if it's seeped into the wood. Am & Hammer baking soda works wonders....
@@LyonsArcade Rat pee is revolting especially when the electrics warms up. From working with computers though, the worst is tobacco smoke is annoying. It's sticky and slow to remove. Sometimes it will leave a shadow on where the layered smoke was.
I wonder about something. What if one could perforate the mylar and remove only part of it? But then again, that might cause corners, lift, and jagged edges. In theory, if it could be done without lifting past what you want removed, then one could improve appearance some. So mulling that out, yeah, just leave the mylar alone.
Weird thing is.. An awesome friend of mine parents had a.. Bally's Star trek.. Didn't get to play it.. but I've seen it. And it was true.. Long story..
That playfield was not all that bad considering where you found it! I have one that has a lot more wear and it was too much for me to just "simply touch up", but the customer is taking it as is.
Curious to see Lt. Ilea (from The Motion Picture) visible top right on the playfield embellisher plastics - where the rest of the game graphics (including the ship) are from The Original Series. Which back glass came with the game?
at the last minute, Paramount had them change the back glass and plastics to reflect The Motion Picture. Supposedly there are very rare examples out there with the original TOS graphics.
This video popped when I was actually touching up a "playfield" myself. I'm teaching myself how to build virtual pinball tables and at the moment I am fixing up a playfield scan of Xenon to make it more presentable. You know Ron, I think I will challenge you to a game of pinball when you air the final episode of this Star Trek pinball resurrection. Virtually. I will download a copy of Star Trek when your last video airs and give it a shot. I've never played that machine to my memory but I'll see if I can beat your high score. Same number of games. I'll even record it and put a link to it in your comments. You game?
I got 1,035,900 on February 17, 1980 in a free game state (Boston, Mass.). That was my 2nd day of play on Star Trek. I'm such a one night stand on these machines.
Donnie will make a cameo over here every now and then. Look for the punching machine repair test. Every so often there will be cross over episodes. Joe even turns up on Donnie’s channel sometime. There’s a rumor there’s a fourth “Donnie’s editor” brother too! 🤣🥹🤪😜
@@dnbreyen Ok, thanks. I didn't catch that video. I've probably watched about 50 videos and it's always been one other brother if there was one around. I also watched some My Brother Donnie videos and I swear the couple I saw, the other brother sounded like Joe (and might have been.)
Joe er Ron, I'm bad with names will take a while. The graphics pop on the cabinet, I always liked pinball most but my goilfrend now wife liked the video games so video games with the girls and Pinball with the boys, there might have been copious amounts of beer involved also, what caliber was that copper jacketed projectile?
Very Very Nice Guys. Ron, you are such a slave driver if I was Joe I would ask for a raise. LOL. In the first episode, it looked like it had flown around Uranus.
Ron and Joe have gone where no man has gone before to bring this baby back to life. Live long and prosper boys.
The will of the one out plays the will of the many.
Paraphrase misquote of Spock.

I never knew Donnie could sing Beethoven. Have you seen him sing on his channel? He just was belting a few out the other day

I am the lucky person and it is a really great machine! They absolutely outdid themselves restoring this machine! I couldn't possibly be happier!
Thanks for watching Mark, we appreciate it. It's coming back together pretty nice....
very nice hymn to go with the work! Added a little lift to my day!
I shot the pinball..but I did not shoot the deputy 🎶
Nice to hear Beethoven's 9th symphony.
What a classic!
I don’t think we’ll see Beethoven rise from the grave and make copyr!ght claims.
Captain,
The repairs are advancing logically!

Thank you SinistarSpatula, we're trying to bring her back :)
Wow, that beauty is rejuvenated by 20-30 years. Nice job, keep the good work up!
Thank you Bakti, let's keep going!
It will be good for the next generation to play.
Mr. Spock with a green uniform? ILLOGICAL! Science officers always wore blue uniforms. Nice work. Used to love playing that game at the bowling alley.
Man, so impressively good how you make this old flipper shine again! Can't wait for the next video on that machine!
Thank you Ralonso, we're trying to get her going again. We appreciate you watching!
The chorale from Beethoven's 9th Symphony...
It's in there :)
This IS the greatest save ever. Or at least it's looking like it. Thanks for the videos.

It's lookin' good, Ron! Thanks for sharing your work and techniques.

We're getting it there, thanks for watching Josh, glad you enjoyed it!
It's starting to look like a pinball machine again, Love how you both bring these games back to life.
She’s all lit up and ready to shine! This seems next level. Thanks Ronnie!
Thank you Miguel, we appreciate it!
That playfield looks fantastic!
Awesome 👍👍👍👍
Thank you Andrew!
Very good job. What is the spray you use back glass? The lacquer you use when you are restoring a back glass when the is paint flaking?
It's called Triple Thick
Looking great!
Thank you iamjtbe!

Love the music choice at 25:30
Work of art!
"In this episode of Graveyard Pins..." "We bring dead Ballys back to life!"
Paint turned out great. Thanks!
looks great
Thank you Joe!
Is there a template available to make painting the playfield easier, like there is with the sides of the box?
Unfortunately there isn't, they just make brand new playfields, or big stickers to cover up all the original artwork on the playfield....
Excellent work!!

Doing some serious work on that poor old game, but its really turning around
exhausting the internet library of free use background music on just one video! hahaha looks amazing!
Love your videos, keep them coming!!
This is looking great! I'm still feeling a little jealous that I don't have a pin project.
the needs of the one outway the needs of the many !!!!
Awesome
Keep em in service

When Bally painted the Play field. Did they originally use stencils to get the machines looking the same?
They were silkscreened, like t-shirts basically
Have you thought of trying auto clay bars to see if you can get that dirt out of the lighter colours...

Have you ever thought of drilling some holes in think plastic to match the circles around lights etc to act as a guide when "drawing" them back in?
Or maybe just using a circle template?....
Oh bubba.. don't try to shoot your pinball machines..
Your bullet is uneffective..
The pinball machine will live on..
And be a star on TH-cam..

Can you show the clear coat method next time?
Very Very Nice Guys. Ron, you are such a slave driver if I was Joe I would ask for a raise. LOL. In the first episode, it looked like it had flown around Uranus.
I think it made it there and back again
Watch out for the Klingons near Uranus people 😄
Ron Check out Daxten Breath and others by them for free music to use in your videos. Your welcome
Ron, who usually does the most work on these old games, you or Joe?
If you listen closely the opera singer is singing about pinball.
The ‘W” in Welcome resembles the letter Shin in Hebrew. ש
That Pinball Machine needs a biohazard warning lol

Why did the hedgehog cross the road?...ta see his flatmate haha..ha-cha-cha-cha-cha 👃
38:21 You are VERY NAUGHTY BOYS!
why have we never seen your face??
I'm not the star of the show, the machine is :) Too many people make their videos all about themselves
Talking about odd number of likes. Ai just rolled it over to the triple nickel, or 555.
Sorry bubba seems like a stereotype knowing people from the South..
But not sure..
Need help..
There is a country song called "Bubba Shot The Jukebox" so the Bubba Shot The Pinball is a play on that...
