I wouldn't count that as a secret passageway to Diagon Alley though. The cabinets will take you to wherever the other cabinet is. If the other cabinet was in New York it would take you there. So it's not specifically tied to Diagon Alley. You could argue of course that as long is it IS there, then it is a secret passage to Diagon Alley, but I personally would consider it separate from the alley altogether. Like if a private jet typically travels from Beijing to Hong Kong, it isn't a passage between those two places, just a means of transportation that happens to go there.

@@abnormallynormal8823 Not necessarily. TOR itself is already a VPN hundreds of times of over. Using a VPN as well is just a tiny amount more, but with the risk that the VPN itself is not secure unlike TOR.

Malfoy's lack of redemption was intentional and imo essential. It is incredibly difficult to flip the script on such a character, bad to good. It at best tends to feel cheesy and at worse can ruin the humanness of a character. Draco was brought up by bad people, but he is not blameless, and he makes his personal beliefs perfectly plain. Even if you recognize that your situation is bad or that your parents were given too much headroom, it is extremely difficult for people to rework their prejudices, and it's even harder to write a side character who does it and simultaneously give the reader proper resolution. JK was also openly critical of the fandom's romanticization of Draco, I think, before DH even came out.
What I find interesting is that JKR said that no, Draco wasn't someone to be romanticized, and made it clear he wasn't a character that would be redeemed, because sometimes, people don't get redeemed because they're just bad people.
Yet, she completely undermines that in the epilogue by not only giving him a wife, but giving him a Muggle-born wife. So not only did she go against her own decisions for the character, she *did* give him a redemption, but one that was even more unsatisfying because it happened off-page and in a time period just skipped over.
@@kateworkman921 no it makes far more sense this way. when you're horribly horribly racist, you don't get a switch turned on and oops, you're good now. That was the point of my comment, maybe I didn't make that clear. A person can change, my problem is it can't be instantaneous. We saw the seeds being planted for Draco's change of heart, we didn't, and shouldn't have seen the full thing in the main series. It's just too unrealistic and would feel way too much like fan service.
@@lrba5524 No, I understood your point, and I largely agree. I'm saying that JKR went against what she had specifically said regarding his character, especially in saying not to idolize him as some kind of "bad boy with a heart of gold" trope.
@@kateworkman921 Draco’s wife is not muggle-born at all! She comes from the Greengrass family, which I believe is one the 28 most ancient pure blood families (or whatever that list is). JKR absolutely didn’t mean to redeem Draco by having him make a decision that’s against his core beliefs. And bad people are still allowed to have wives lol
@Kate Workman, Draco’s wife Astoria is pureblood. Her sister Daphne is in Harry’a year and in Slytherin I believe although I am not sure. But she was mentioned in the OWL chapter.

I HAVE A VIDEO IDEA: in Prisoner of Azkaban, after Sirius chases Pettigrew into the forest, Harry hears Sirius yelping in dog form (presumably due to the dementors). When he follows the noise he finds Sirius, now back in human form, surrounded by dementors. My question is this: How did the dementors recognise Sirius in dog form?
It's still unknown, even to Dumbledore, that Sirius is an animagus. He literally escaped Azkaban due to the fact the dementors couldn't fully sense him. What were the dementors doing on the castle grounds anyway? Surely they couldn't sense Black in dog form from the perimeter of the grounds. Did Snape call them in? Maybe since they had a specific entity they were looking for, they were recalling the very weak, dog form, 'losing his mind' Sirius from when he was in Azkaban. But if they could recognise that entity as Sirius then he wouldn't have escaped in the first place.

I think that Sirius transformed back into a human for some reason. Probably because of injuries and the anguish from the dementors

Sirius was fighting Lupin and transformed back because his injuries made him too weak to keep in that form

While you were talking about Gilderoy Lockhart and portraits, this just hit me: all the portraits of people seems to posses the person's personality, and memories (at least up till the point when it was drawn), for example the portraits of all the previous headmasters. Can't someone who was memory wiped just get their memories back from the portraits of their own by simply talking to it, or better yet just transfer the memories from the portrait to the person?
Not really. The portrait only knows what the person painting the picture knows and thinks about that person. And that is VERY limited.
The headmaster Portrait is different. It is basically trained by the headmaster as long as he or she is headmaster. That's why those Portraits are almost a copy of the headmaster. But even they are not perfect.

@@She-Devil94 Still, it should work in Lockhart's case, considering how self absorbed he is and how much time he spend with his portrait... he carries multiple portraits and photos with him all the time, and you'd think he'll be spending most of his time talking to them, since you know he doesn't really do anything else really.
@@DukeGaGa That's actually a good point. In Lockharts case it would work. But I believe the spell he used was supposed to take away Harrys and Rons ability to ever remember anything properly. So I don't think he can recover even if you tell him everything.
