With Drink's "exhibition" comment, it's important to define the term. It could mean "the game doesn't really matter", with that thought leading to "we don't need to try hard", but that doesn't match the grit, effort, and determination we saw on the field. So I think we need to look at "exhibition" as simply meaning that it is/was not a game that had on-field consequences. It doesn't make a difference in your next game, it doesn't get you to another game, it doesn't affect your conference standing. It's just a game. Doesn't mean you don't take it seriously, or play hard, just means the result only affects perception, not competitive consequences. And if that's what he meant, I find no fault with the comment.
I think he also might have meant that it was a chance to exhibit the second string who stepped up to fill those positions vacated by opt outs. We had receivers who made their first catch of the season in that bowl game that were key receptions.
I agree 100% with Drink. I think we have moved on to more expectations. I for one am glad to have that sentiment. We are so close to be a college football playoff team yearly. He meant that as no offense to Iowa. The team competed and gave their best effort
Phil Bradley was amazing. I was a little kid but remember him winning the liberty bowl & Tracey Mack staying at my house for the weekend. Great memories. He's a top 5 QB, but it was a different position back then, & offenses didn't throw or score as much, so his stats aren't going to compare.
BRADY COOK: #2 highest cmp% 66 to CDs 68%. #3 YDS. #5 tds. (with way fewer atts) #1 TD/INT % (by a lot) #1 INT % (again by a lot) #1 YPA 7.9. #2 QB Rate CD 149 BC 145. #4 QB RU/YDS (modern) #3 QB RU/TDS (modern) I don't know where he ranks in total wins or win% but I imagine he's top 3 in both. Cooks stats match up. He's top 5 in almost everything & he's 1 or 2 in a bunch of stats. Cook is in my top 5. I've got him at #3(Smith & CD). You could, although I wouldn't argue that he's the greatest QB we've ever had. I also would have Mauk somewhere in my top 10, & honestly I'd take him to battle as much if not more than any MIZ QB. Dude knew how to win.
Chase is a better all around, NFL back up. What Brad brought to the table, and warrants think about it. Brad was a threat to score on every play. Please till me the last guy that could pass as well as Brad and was a threat to score on any given play. Brad had some air yards.
I cringed when they announced Cook passed up Brad Smith for passing... Cook has been part of this winning in recent years but I refuse to believe he was better than Brad Smith. 1) Chase D. 2) Brad Smith 3) Tie between Corby, Mauk, Gabbert, Lock Then Brady Cook is somewhere next to James Franklin * I was born in 1991 btw. Don't kill me for not watching any of the earlier QBs
On receivers, I would consider Luther Burden III and Mel Gray as tied for the best I've seen. I want to also say that Brady Cook outplayed Jalen Milroe this season. Brady Cook did not lose a game from a turnover and had better decision making. Theo Wease and Johnny Walker Jr. both put their hearts and souls into that bowl game. Theo will also be missed for his intelligence and leadership on the field and in the locker room.
We got screwed in a lot of 1 score games like every year except this one. lol Like UGA the past 2 years in a row. The LSU game last year. The KEN PI in the endzone. The stopped game at SCAR due to lightning with clear blue skies. The AUB 2 missed fgs loss 3 years ago. @FLA 2 yrs ago. Etc. Etc. Etc.
Lock was awful. He just flung the ball & didn't care if it got picked or not. I have a Franklin jersey. With that being said Cook is #3 by every metric, possibly 2, but I put Smith a touch above him.
@ToddRobinson13-b3n Lock and Gabbert should be 6 & 7. I love Mauk. If only playing a season & a half counts he's in my top 5. You have Cook way too low my man. Wins matter. Cmp% matters. TD/INT ratio matters. INT/ATTs matters. Rushing yds & TDs matter. YPA matters. Cooks better than all of those guys in almost every category.
Our starting QB was injured most of the year. Worst 10 win season of all time is such a hilarious take
I laughed heartily.
Brady Cook is top three if you factor in all of the great moments he created for the program
Yes, I hope that Cook goes to the UFL so he can get a chance to play consistently and have fun.
Cook threw 11 touchdowns this year nothing to get excited about
And his wins. And his stats.
@@shannonmontgomery1419 good job at leaving out the whole picture 👍
Brady looked very different in the bowl game. He stepped up in the pocket and threw to the middle and intermediate field more than we saw all season
I know where was this all year
@@seanroche8966 broken throwing wrist and a high ankle sprain
@@adamowen366 Certainly that, but prior to the injuries, I think expectations really got to him early in the year.
Subbed, thanks for the fun this season!

I like running out of the pistol. It helps RBs that plow forward bc they're closer to the line.
I agree the RB needs to take a step forward.

I'd take Mauk into battle anytime. Didn't play long enough to make my top 5.

I would throw Maclin in there too. Mel Gray is a great call.

The last two years we have been fortunate. We were 6-1 in 2024 and 4-0 in 2023 and 2-4 in 2022 in games that ended in 7 pts or less.
@siryort7024 Agreed. The amount of egregious calls against mizzou though through the years. Man they should just start calling them MIZ calls. lol
You can call me Rick the third leg any time 😂
You better buy me dinner first!
@ oh did I bust out laughing at that comment. Hope Mizzou can hang with Auburn tomorrow. MIZ!
I like Make it Blake for the kicker.
Maybe Craig the Leg is better...
Maybe Craig the leg is better though. lol

Why is it the disrespect always comes from those programs beneath Mizzou, at least in recent memory. Looking at you lil bro, arkansas.
