Despite being produced in the 21st century and being powered by modern powertrains, these vehicles retained a classic design. Which of these retro-styled sports cars is your favorite?
Definitely Mitsuoka. it's rare, cheap, and awesome corvette retro styling done right, plus beneath all of this, it's still a Miata. That's a winner for me))
I was taken away by the Rockstar, If they were available in the USA, and I knew I could get comfortable behind the wheel (I am too tall for a lot of cars) I would be very tempted to put my current project car plans on hold and get my own Miata-Stingray.
Can't we just have a good looking, fun to drive sports car at a reasonable price? I don't need a race car just something with 3 pedals and decent handling. The only option is really the miata, why can't someone else make something comparable with a touch more room?
Glad to see cars like that return, but I've already seen the gearheads saying it's underpowered at 240bhp. That's as much as my bmw, and that's plenty fast enough. The most fun car I had was my 86 prelude with manual and 110 bhp. It was nimble and fun to drive. I don't need to drive 300mph, no place to do that here in New England. But we do have twisty roads where a sprite little machine is a blast to throw around
@@magerted64 The horsepower wars are fucking ridiculous but BTW the new 240 is 400hp. Certainly adequate good gawd. Same thing with the Supra it's just FINE. I would be happy if my 88 BMW 535is (chipped) ran as strong as the first one I had when it was only 7 years old. 182hp stock. Well at least then.... time has no doubt taken some compression and power.... Anyway yeah even the old 240SX was good.
How could you NOT mention Revology Cars from Orlando Florida. HP ranges from 460 to 760. And the bodies match Mustangs from 1965 through 1968. The quality is superb on a part with any modern luxury automobile. And the prices are a lot better than many of the autos you mentioned.
Love retro cars like retro bikes over new designs any day. As much as I’ve never been a Volvo fan I’ve always loved the P1800 since I saw my first one in our workshop in 1980. As for Porsches love the classic looking 911s.
You made some mistakes. At 7:44 you said "Morgan CXT" If you look at the screen you can clearly see that it is Not a CXT. Its a Morgan CTX. The Donkervoort is a Dutch company. You forgot the most famous "Reimagined" car The Singer.
I don't know if this narrator's voice is computer generated or if it is real but it is annoying in it's tone and weird inflection and detracts from the presentation
The Mitsuoka Rock Star just shouts Miata even before I saw that it is built onto Miata base. It looks like a Corvette but it still looks like an MD Miata, which says a lot for the Miata styling. The one design change I would make to a Miata is a more aggressive slope to the hood and the Rock Star achieves that! But I would like to see the Rock Star built on the newest Miata chassis. One thing the Rock Star says is if you want to build a cool sports cars onto a modern chassis, Miata Is Always The Answer. (Sorry...I couldn't resist that.)
Love that Alfahaulic GTA (based on the GTV). In the '70's a friends dad had one and I got to drive it quite a few miles. They weren't particularly fast but they felt fast and were so fun to drive. By the '80's and '90's they were pretty much worthless and most rusted away. Now the few that are nice are $50k plus and rising (like everything else).
Using marketing videos from the manufacturers, and reading lists of specifications in what sounds like a computer generated voice, this is perfect if you are trying to get to sleep.
That's not a computer generated voice, that's a foreign language (not sure which one) accent, and you get your video where you can! These are fantastic cars, their main drawback, in most cases, being their price tags...
The Smit Oletha based on BMW Z8 which in its own right is exactly what a revised modern Jaguar E-Type should have looked like. Only the front grille could be made to mimic the E-Types
the Alfa Romeo GTA-R 300 0.5 in. Lift 2.3 i-Turbo I4 2-Dr Compact Coupe (RHD) could have reworked on a unique all aluminium alloy original monocoque chassis of the Alfa Romeo GTA-R 300 0.5 in. Lift 2.4 i-Turbo I4 2-Dr Compact Coupe (RHD) instead of the seam welded steel chassis . . . it'd complement the carbon fiber composite body of the Alfa Romeo GTA-R 300 0.5 in. Lift 2.3 i-Turbo I4 2-Dr Compact Coupe (RHD) . . . it would have been worth the €370,000 price tag . . .
If you want a unique car get one now. Don't wait, cars are slowly but surely being legislated into oblivion. I expect owning a car to be as unusual as owing a steam traction engine or riding in a horse drawn vehicle not too far in the future. So get that dream project right now! I just bought a Caterham 160, amazing fun, massive character and charm.
👍I like most of these. 👍 Just posted on my channel, Trike concept art. Coming soon Tron bikes and Tron tanks and other sci-fi vehicles and some robots.
I have a 2021 Miata. It produces 181 HO. Also the Volvo P1800 should be much less expensive and in regular production. I've always wanted one of those cars.
@@1badhaircut My '92 only had a post because the original owner swapped the muffler with a glass pack. The current car isn't exactly "fast" but it is quick enough to get out of its own way. We don't need a 600+ hp car to have fun. Our RF suits us well.

I'm sorry but most of these cars make me want to gag. Not to mention some of the commentary is less than accurate. For example the Mitsuoka "Rockstar" which is a bit of a joke,, is modeled after the C2 Corvette that first appeared in 1963 not 1960 which would still have been a C1.
Man that Mitsuoka Rock Star is ugly! They’ve taken the sleek elegant fast design of the Corvette sting ray and bloated it into this misshapen blob. Chevy should sue them for damages to their image.
I definitely liked some of the other cars you showcased, especially the Smit Oletha. That car has a very beautiful design. I am also a big fan of the Volvo P1800 and the Alfa Romeo GTA, and definitely the Jaguar E-type.
Do you think that you will see these cars? These cars are a waste of time and motion. They are 10 times the price of what they should be.
