@@CreativeGrandma Our stores here in Allentown are staying open. If you ever feel like driving down I'd be happy to meet you. They're closing all over the place due to the Bankruptcy last year. Also: Trader Joe's is definitely NOT bougie. It's cheaper than the regular grocery store with a lot of really great options.
Sorry your Joann’s is closing, I would be so sad if my local one closed however I would be thrilled to have a local Trader Joe’s, it’s not a bougee store, it has awesome and unique items as well as a great selection of allergy free items if you have allergies.
I hate to see another store closing so sad. Craft stores are so needed, how can they close. So sad for you. I love to see and touch things I am looking for that is why we need our local craft stores.😢
I was devastated when all the A.C. Moore's stores all closed down. Very sad to hear about your JoAnn's. Hope this isn't a sign of more craft stores closing. 😢
It really is sad to see all these craft stores closing, and I agree with you, Glenda; I want to see what I’m buying. Just thinking that you will no longer be able to browse the yarn, touch it and actually see the colors is sad too. 😢
I am so sad for everyone in your area 😿 That is horrible news indeed. I am not a fan of buying yarn online (but I still do) because I like to see the colors in-store and touch the yarns, as well as pull several colors together to see if i like the combination.
I just was at our local Joann's earlier today. Im so sad we're losing ours!! I do a large variety of crafting!! No other store in my town carries the variety of fabrics and notions for sewing as our local Joann.😢 As for yarn selection, they have the best varieties, not just their yarn brand. My mom, who passed away in 2015 used to make clothes for all of us kids as i was growing up because, at the time, it was much cheaper to make than to buy! Sewing was my first craft. Mom and i used to go to our town's first fabric store and then Joann when it first came to town in 1977! Mom sewed up until 2013. She would be 97 now. I like others have stated, want to feel my yarn!! How can one confidently purchase yarn without being able to feel it!! My only Joann choice is to drive an hour and a half away!! Well it will be something to add to my trips to my doctor appointments. ..lol. I found out the one there isn't closing, thank God!!!❤
I shop in Trader Joe’s where I live in Connecticut all the time they are not that expensive and they carry healthy food I would be sad if my Joanns was closing bad enough it’s about a 25 minute ride depending on traffic stock up now
Besides just being able to pick out your yarn in person compared to buying online, getting out into a store is being around other people and having socialization. Where as online is so lonely and isolated.
Trader Joe’s is not expensive. It’s a great store. I drive once a month to another state to load up on groceries at Trader Joe’s as there isn’t one near me . Sorry to hear you are losing your JoAnns. I am afraid this might keep happening with more online sales. My local Joann’s might end up closing too.
Very sad 😔! I’m sorry the JoAnns in your area is closing! You’re right how can the landlords/owners afford to have big buildings just sit empty down the road??? I also like to physically look at and touch the yarns I’m planning on buying ☺️! Thanks for sharing and filming for us🙏🏻😔💕!
Hello Glenda, hello Cody! Very sad that that store is closing. I live in Pittsburgh and I don’t think the stores around here are closing. I did buy some yarn online the other day and they said the color was peppermint. I took a chance on it because I’m visually impaired and there was no one around to look at it. When it came, it was teal beige and white but the name on there was peppermint. It’s forever fleece by Burnett and I was very disappointed. I guess I’ll figure something out to make with it. Anyway, our Michaels doesn’t have much at all.
More and more people have to budget and juggle food and bills. Costs going up on everything less and les are going to be buying My son was saying we don’t need so many blankets etc but way back when people sewed pyjamas and made cloth diapers from old flannel blankets. All the decades dependant on stores and oversea mail orders only the older folks know how to make their own clothes etc. I learned how to tan hides, makes saddles and cut bridle an harness straps a lost art.
Oh Glenda, I so love that light aqua blue yarn you had in your hand which you mentioned about putting in a give away. I would make some grocery bags with it.
Thank you for the info and the yarn tour Glenda and Cody, I hope you can find another Joann's store to buy your yarn. It's awful how many stores are closing, not to mention restaurants. I like to look at what I'm buying too, also shipping costs are exorbitant.
Hi Glenda and Cody, thanks for sharing this video so folks can get there for good sales. Sad though...I know Joanns was going thru bankruptcy but I thought they restructured the biz, so they could stay in business. Plus who knows, maybe the owner increased it to something ridiculous too. Hope they can find another location where rent isn't crazy but if they're selling all things not sure..hope my local store hangs in there... just like rental homes and apts, they're sky high..how do they folks can afford it .that's why you have 2 families living together sad.. be interesting to see what tenant goes in there next! Be nice if it was at least another craft store...Have nice day 😁
Oh no! It is sad to see a craft store close! I hope it can relocate near you. I rely on the Joann near me! I hope this is not an indication of others closing!
Trader Joe’s isn’t really that expensive and it certainly is not bougie. I’m not sure what they would have in Pennsylvania, but that’s in Colorado, but that Joannes would be closing and not moving like creative. Grandma said to another place is just unheard of in my opinion are they just too lazy to move or do they just not wanna do this anymore? I’ve noticed that here even in Colorado Joannes is getting much more expensive and certainly does not have the best quality.
This is happening to so many stores with the coming of online ordering. It reminds me of years ago in our small town when Wal-Mart came t7town. Most , if not all, the favorite shores closed. Ben Franklin, Howard's, West Bros and small mom and pop shops. I have shopped online when I couldn't find what I needed, yet, I like going in a personally seeing a product before I buy.
I'm sorry, Glenda, for you and your community losing your local Joanns. I worry about mine in Tucson though I've heard nothing about it closing. I'm a touchy feely sniffy yarn customer and the internet can't duplicate that experience (yet)! I hope Joanns does listen to your suggestion to move the store to an already vacant location in your area. Thanks for making these videos. You and Cody inspire me!
Thank You ChiefK8 for your continued support of the channel. I was not able to find the New Caron Simply Me yet just heard about it so need to order it in since we are running out of craft stores
Thank you Glenda and Cody for sharing! To all the comments about click baiting or the title needing to be changed, it comes across to me that you're insinuating it was intentional. I've been watching this channel for years and I can't imagine Glenda or Cody doing anything dishonest or misleading or trying to "alarm" anyone! This lady has helped countless people in sharing her craft for free! Maybe you should stop and think before you comment and accuse someone of being dishonest or misleading. Glenda, I know you can address issues on your own and I hope this comment doesn't upset you in any way. Feel free to remove it if it does.
I do not understand why people think it is click bait when in the first 30 seconds of the video I clearly state it is my Local store, and it is going out of business. I think people need to listen to what I am saying. I am sad my local store is closing and the photo is from the front of the store and me walking into the store. So if people are taking it the wrong way it is because they are not listening to the video. Everything I say in the video is true and confirmed by the manager. Thank You for your comment. I was just trying to relay information to anyone in my area who would like to advantage of the sales.
Hello, Glenda and Cody. Thanks for the heads up on Joann's stores. I am sorry to hear they are going to close. I feel sorry for the people who will be out of a job. 😢
I hate shopping online for fabric and yarn, sigh. I, too, like to touch them to see how soft they are, etc. And online colors do not really show the colors exactly. I have bought fabric and have been disappointed in the colors. Maybe it is just me. I have to drive hours to get to fabric stores or yarn stores. I have a Walmart, but they only carry precuts and for some reason, the yarn always seems empty. It is a bummer.
Sorry your store is closing, it looks like an amazing set up. I hope you are able to go back and get a few more good deals. Take care and thanks for sharing! 🩵
So sorry to hear your local JoAnn is shutting down. Maybe they will open a new location nearby. Trader Joe's is actually a reasonably priced store with lots if unusual items, but I don't see why they couldn't have picked a location that was already vacant.
This is sad. Regardless what I buy I like to see and touch it. Like buying a car. You have to drive it and sit in it etc. I hope people continue to craft. I wonder if the closings are from cost, people not crafting or people just buying online. 🤔
I'd say it's because the rent got put up too high, just like housing?? Here it's getting increased to amounts that are more than people can afford, too hard to keep physical stores going because of it, that's why they move to online stores. 😟
Hi Glenda and Cody, It's cwarren but under my new channel. It's so sad the craft yarn stores are closing. I'm like you Glenda I like actually looking at and touching yarn and yarn related items like crochet hooks etc.
It seems like all the stores not just craft stores but it also Walmarts and who knows what others. What I think it is boiling down to internet shopping only and that is a sad way to live. I love to shop. I wish I could do something about it. 🤔
This is sad 😮 like you my JoAnne’s is about an hour away and so is Michael’s we only have Walmart near us and they don’t do much as for crafts and such. We have Very Large Amazon wear houses here guess we all know why 😢 I’m missing brick and mortar stores especially Sears.
A lot of places are closing. It's such a shame that we can't see and feel what we want to buy. Many places are selling to investors for building apartments and planned neighborhoods.
So sorry to hear that your Joann's is closing. I would die if the one I go to closed. Like you said, Michael's cut way down and even Hobby Lobby cut way back on the yarn. Hope you have a wonderful day 🙏🏻🤗
I’m heartbroken for both you and Cody and of course all that shop there. I know I would be so sad to see my Joann’s closing. Truly hope deep down another one opens up in the near future. Wish we could all email corporate to tell them to just move locations.
It’s always sad when businesses close locations. It seems they had quite a variety of fabric there. When my local fabric store closed, there were no others near. They were big for a local store, there for decades. No one wanted to take over the business. I still miss it and it’s been years since closure.
My JoAnns is the size of a large grocery store however they never have any more than 1 cashier and 1 person working on the floor. It is so dang frustrating.
Sad they are closing and actually, Trader Joe’s is pretty discounted on most of their stuff. We shop there to save money. They are under the same umbrella as Aldi. I can’t say that I’d rather trade Joann’s for Trader Joe’s but most communities advocate for Trader Joe’s because they have so many discounted groceries. 🤷♀
So sad! I agree.... There are lots of empty stores available. Perhaps the brick and mortar stores are not doing well enough to justify the rents? That's sad. I like to see what I'm buying.
So sorry your store is closing. No more Joann shopping trip videos with Gma and Cody. 😢 Hopfully they will open another location close to you in the near future. If this is a busy location, maybe they will. It seems their restructuring isn't going too well. Btw Trader Joe's is a great store! They have some really great products at reasonable prices.
I'm sorry yall are losing your Joann's! It's definitely sad how prices are going up and good brick and mortar stores are shutting down. Yall should definitely check into buying some of the storage racks, baskets, and spinner shelves. But you might want to ask the store manager or owner about them sooner than later.
Ho nooooo!!!!! Please , at least keep fabrics, yarns , embroidery and accessories. Still we are people sawing and knitting. Hobby lobby have a great selection of others craft but about fabrics is very limited. I hope my store in Mobile Alabama survive. Thanks!
I’m not sure if our store is closing I’ll have to check it out this weekend. There closing most of craft stores here I’m in New Mexico. I’m so sorry. But I think it’s just going to get worse
They are going thru a restructure and will be closing more stores. I don’t know if they have come out of bankruptcy yet. Need to erase debt. What we don’t know is have they been paying their rent timely. They probably need to get balance sheets looking better.
On Friday, I was at one of the Joann's in Albuquerque. There were only 2 employees in the whole store, and the line for getting fabric cut was unbelievable, especially because there was a fabric sale. Also, the checkout line was long, too. I pray that more stores don't close. So sorry for you both.
I would be sad if my Joann's went out of business. Hobby Lobby rarely carries any yarn that isn't their store brand and the local Michaels has such a horrible yarn selection I stopped going.
I'm so sorry Glenda and Cody! I have fond memories of one stop Christmas shopping at JoAnn's. And it is difficult to buy craft specific things online. The seller seldom knows what size a 16" 6mm circular knitting needle with 4" tips is as opposed to any other one. Amazon has sent me several other sizes I will never use, for example. Peace and Blessings to you all 🧶🎄🎁
So sorry to hear about your Joann’s store closure. I live in Del Río, Texas and have to drive 75 miles to Uvalde to shop at Hobby Lobby. My closest Michael’s and Joann’s are 150 miles away in San Antonio. I don’t like to buy yarn on line unless I have seen the yarn first in a store with my own eyes.

So sorry to hear that for y’all. Hopefully they will relocate!
Alot of times when a store closes they raise the price than reduce the items so they were more or the same price as before
They'll just send that inventory to their other stores or online ordering warehouses.
Yeah those were horrible prices on that yarn. 20% off of $11.99 is not a deal.
I normally get those on sale for $6.99/$7.99.
They will reduce it to 50-75 % off and box it up and ship it to a store that isn’t closing.
So sad 😢. I love going into stores and touching the yarn and supplies.

Maybe they will open a new location nearby.
Trader Joe's is actually a reasonably priced store with lots if unusual items, but I don't see why they couldn't have picked a location that was already vacant.
That's what I was thinking too. I live in California and here, they just move to smaller buildings. There was a huge one that relocated.
So sorry your Joann's is closing.😮😢
Ya think they would just pack everything up and send it back to the warehouse or other JoAnn stores. 🤷♀️
I'm sorry that your Joann is closing. I'm fortunate to still have two open near me.
Thank you for sharing
Our Joann’s in central Illinois does a lot of business. We just got a Michael’s, but I like Joann’s better.
I hope ours doesn't close!
So sorry to hear that your Joann's is closing. I would die if the one I go to closed. Like you said, Michael's cut way down and even Hobby Lobby cut way back on the yarn.
Hope you have a wonderful day 🙏🏻🤗
Ya they closed our Joanns a few months ago. Supposedly you can order online but be careful I did and I got ripped off.❤
Yes very sad
Quite heartbreaking to imagine you are losing your local Joann’s😮sad, sad video 😢
That is very sad, I agree with you, they should move into one of those other buildings. Yarn is in demand. I am so sorry that yours is closing.
Trader Joe's isn't a. Boogie anything. It is a wonderful grocery store, very reasonable prices and some unique foods ---the best coconut yogurt ever.
Sorry to hear that your Joann's is closing. It's my favorite store.
Our local one closed May of last year as well. I really miss it
It is so sad
So sad!
Really sad, 😢hopefully they will open another store there soon! I love Joann's.
So sad! I agree.... There are lots of empty stores available. Perhaps the brick and mortar stores are not doing well enough to justify the rents? That's sad. I like to see what I'm buying.
Our Joanne Fabric store is open in Battle Creek, Michigan ,where I live.
Omg I’m thinking yarn sales!!!
I remember you guys mentioning having to travel farther because your last craft store closed
They just revamped the store and brought all the new yarns in just to close the store it does not make sense. Now I have to drive an hour away
I can hear the sadness in your voices.
A few years ago several closed as well. 🤨😓
Thanks!
So sorry your JoAnns is going out of business. Hope you can pick up some good deals.🥰
We live in a middle sized town in Louisiana I hope they don't close ours. It's a quick run to for yarn..❣️ Y'all have a Blessed Day
I’m not sure if our store is closing I’ll have to check it out this weekend. There closing most of craft stores here I’m in New Mexico. I’m so sorry. But I think it’s just going to get worse
Not all stores are closing my is closing due to the lease was not renewed
That stinks! They actually just opened a new one here in Cincinnati recently and we have at least seven in the tri-state area..
I go to the Colerain store alot. Usually buy online pickup for extra deals. Mainly for sewing and quilting supplies now. I have way too much yarn lol
Where is the new one at??
I hope they relocate to one of the buildings you mentioned.
Hi. I'm sorry to see your favorite store is closing. I can hear it in your voice your sad. Luckely you don't have to make such video often. ❤
I'M SO SORRY TO HEAR THIS FOR YOU GLENDA!!! AND EVERYONE IN YOUR AREA THAT RELYS ON YOUR LOCAL JOANN'S! SUCH A SHAME!
Joann historically inderstaffs their stores. It's just the way they run things.
That’s so sad, I sure hope some company comes in and creates another craft store for your area.
Oh no how sad!! I just called my JoAnns in a panic and ask them if they're closing! They said no thank jebus 😬
Glad your store is not closing.
I would be sad if my Joann's went out of business. Hobby Lobby rarely carries any yarn that isn't their store brand and the local Michaels has such a horrible yarn selection I stopped going.
They closed the ones in Phoenix AZ a couple months ago. But you can still order online products.
It’s sad to see the store close.
Your right about the red heart yarn, Cody. Red heart is my favorite, now I have to go to Mary Maxim...of course... On line. ; (
