  • Tested the water, and got a reading of .5 of free chlorine.
Even though I have a saltwater pool I am constantly having to manually dose the pool with liquid chlorine just to maintain a sanitary level.

I’m having the same issue. In Florida as well. At 100% I cant get over 1.3 chlorine ever. All my levels are good. Brand new pool and system. Been 8 months now. Pool is clear, but a tad of algae starting to show in corners in August. Have to shock system. But I shouldn’t have to run the system at 100% all the time per Jandy.

this year I used “Pool RX”. I’ve kept salt cell at 40% and my chlorine level stays at a constant 6ppm.

Yes it is. Yet Jandy markets this as it is capable of sanitizing a 35k gal pool. Maybe in Maine! But definitely not Florida

The reps from Jandy came to my house last
Month. He said that the size of my pool is on the high end for the true clear salt cell being used in Central Florida.
They kept saying I had a lot of “contributing factors” for chlorine demand. Phosphates (which are only bad when you have algae because algae feeds on phosphates.) but they claim otherwise. Other factors were Trees 90’ away, people, 1 kid and a inside dog who they claim is equivalent to 100 people in the pool. This dog stays inside sleeps inside and does not roll around in the dirt but yet when it jumps in the pool it’s equivalent to 100 people LOL.
As soon as all this equipment takes a dump which I’m sure will be shortly based on the history of having 3-4 pumps in 2 years I’ll be getting a different brand

Hayward is the best, Jandy is junk. I hate fixing Jandy junk. Especially the heaters they are so bad they have awful flow rates. They add like 8 psi just going through the unit. What a joke!

Phosphates, it’s the number one killer to salt systems. You can treat it in small doses once a month and clean the salt cell in a be part muriatic acid ten parts water. I own a pool company in Georgia and am a Jandy and Hayward and pentair warranty station. Everyone has their brand preferences but keep phosphates low and it will straighten your salt cell out. If you need more help or assistance please reach out.

@@mflores1423 unfortunately jandy is not able to keep up with the chlorine demand in Florida. Maybe if your pool is probably six or 7000 gallons the Jandy would be good but for anything more than 15 or 20,000 gallons Jandy is just junk. What you could try to do is throw pull RX in your pump basket. You can get one of the pills on Amazon for about $60. There’s lots of folks that like it and very few that hate it because they say it adds medals in copper blah blah blah to your water. But the fact is I’m on your number to using the pool RX and right now I keep my salt cell at about 40% whereas before I started using Pool RX I had to keep my salt cell at 90%.
