To be in the royal horses guard, they go through very intense training. Falling off a horse is part of their training. But nothing prepares you for falling on a paved road.

I doubt either that it's the first time that horse has bucked someone off. You don't really stand a chance on those saddles, it's like sitting on a nutshell 😂 I prefer to use a western saddle 😊
God forbid!!! It's not the horse's fault. Whoever trained him should have payed attention to his temperament. If the horse passed all of his training and made it to the guard. There also a lot of reasons a horse rears or in this instance bucks the rider off and none of them are the horse's fault. Bit pinching the inside of his mouth because the rider is pulling the reins too tight. Ill fitting saddle. I didn't notice if they were wearing spurs. Some rider's dig their spurs too hard into the poor horse's sides. The camera would have had to focus specifically on that horse and rider to be able to offer an intelligent argument as to the why. I’m not sure of the reason but there has been a lot of head tossing and pulling on the bits by numerous guard horses lately. . It can’t be blamed entirely on poor horsemanship so my guess is either a rush to complete the horses training or the bridles that so many show discomfort or dislike for. After riding and raising horses for the past 40 yrs I’m aware that every single horse has its own unique personality and quirks and accident and falls happen even to the best riders. It could be my imagination but the horses as a group seemed to be more relaxed during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral than they do now.
Under most circumstances you find a bit that works well for the horse. Some do great bitless, some go great in a basic snaffle, some need something a bit harsher. They uniformly use the same harsh bits on all horses and keep contact on the reins so it’s putting pressure in their mouths. Easily explains the head tossing. It doesn’t look like excitement for the work.
Eeeesh, that poor soldier, looked like he landed on his head, hope he was ok. True soldier though, got up, brushed himself off and marched on. Total respect to him and all our troops 🇬🇧
There is always a back up crew following and if the horse has bolted and not been stopped that trooper would have a long walk. I often worked night shifts and would see the Horse Guards exercising in Hyde Park, there was always an army ambulance and horse box in attendance. Just in case of accidents.
I've noticed a few horses tend to slither. Seen them tumble too as the legs slide from under them, which is horrid. I wonder if they could use studs or something newer fangled to stop them feeling insecure on the roads.
Er no?😲 Not until he catches up with his horse!🤔 Amazing to be so relaxed over losing your horse🤯. (just sort out me hat, and sword and... figure which way they all went?) 🐎 We were always taught, to stay on, obviously, but failing that, don't let go of your horse! Eesh, in London too! Hopefully, once relieved of his rider the horse was happy to follow his chums? We don't want any more loose and horridly injured horses. A pint indeed, you are too kind!🤭
Hard to believe the amount of head-tossing by these horses. They are unhappy, frustrated, and tense. I’ve been riding my whole life and have always enjoyed watching the King’s mounted regiments, but it seems there are some underlying issues that need to be addressed. I realize tradition is very important, but it’s time to reevaluate how much junk these horses and riders have to wear. Lose the double bridles. Take a look at the DPRK’s (of all countries!) mounted regiments in the big parades they have: The horses have the bare minimum tack, the riders wear simple, straightforward uniforms. The horses have plenty of personal space: at least 4 feet to either side and 8 feet or more front to back. The horses are happy, quiet and all at the same gait.
Thank goodness you said this. I've watched a few of these vids, and couldn't agree more. Time for updating UK ceremonial procedures involving horses, these traditions so outworn and old. Animal welfare so important these days. Sometimes footage is just downright disturbing, like those horses who threw their riders and ran for their lives through the streets of London just a few weeks ago. And we never really found out how they were afterwards. Who is going to make the changes - Charles? Time to lobby the King I reckon.
@barbarathomas2561 there are weekly updates, at least on my feeds. The horses are getting better as are the soldiers who were hurt. The minimumally injured soldiers are back at work
So much head-tossing ... poor guy who fell must've been shaken up, but had to carry on, albeit on foot. How humiliating for him. The police horses always seem calmer ? Thanks for uploading.
hope that both off them are all.right that trooper took one very bad fall he just got up as nothing had happened good luck to him he will always remember the time he came off his horse 🐎
I have questions ❓ Why are most of these horse's throwing their head's up and down like that. As a rider myself, I'm aware of the possible reasons. I'm just not familiar with the reasons for horse's specifically trained for royal service. Unfortunately, the camera angles don't represent horse or rider prior to being thrown. I'm glad the rider was able to get right back up. I hope the horse isn't going to be in trouble. Some horse's just don't have the temperament for whatever their intended use and it's up to the human to realize that and allow the horse to be of use in a way that fits both owner and horse's needs.
I have been saying for some time that these horses are unhappy and very jittery and seem to be so much closer to each other when on parade than they were some years ago. I can see a time in the future when people are going to be seriously injured if the problem isn't rectified.

Surely he must have hurt somewhere, perhaps his back, no matter how well they are trained to fall. Unfortunately, horses, like any animal, no matter how well trained, can be unpredictable. That's why people shouldn't get too close and touch horses with guards on duty.

Approx 4.54 is where the horse totally just bucked him off...!! Nice to see the COH ask if the rider was ok... falling on hard concrete that's gonna hurt..x Didn't see where the horse ended up though....hope the soldier was able to remount x
So! Did he catch up with his horse?
As any rider can tell you "If you ain't been throwed, you never rode." Nice classy recovery.
Hope the military guy, is ok and not to hurt to bad, why did the horse buck him off.
Hello from Spain, i thought that for a moment, he had fallen on his neck, i think the horse decided 'no, not today' get off'. Well done for the young man picking his things up and rearranging himself before marching forward. But unfortunately, these things happen, x
Brave lad, well done
Surely he must have hurt somewhere, perhaps his back, no matter how well they are trained to fall. Unfortunately, horses, like any animal, no matter how well trained, can be unpredictable. That's why people shouldn't get too close and touch horses with guards on duty.
The sound of horses...can be' heard till the kitchen...!@!🐎🐎🐎
The sudden way the Guard's horse jumped and bucked makes me wonder if it was stung or bitten?
Hes going to feel that in the morning... He'll probably get out of bed and get to work anyway..... Thats how it is in the household....
I've had many horse in my lifetime - one that would twist out from under the rider without any warning at all! This trooper couldn't have predicted what the horse was going to do. Glad he seemed to be okay.
What a stunning police horse following that lot. Beautiful colour.
Again this is getting to be a regular occurrence
All the horses seemed a bit antsy😮
There was a loose horse at the beginning as well.
Where is his horse???? I hope that he didn't run off😮😮😮😮
