PARIAH NEXUS META IS HERE! Grey Knights vs Death Guard Warhammer 40k 10th Edition Battle report

- First spin out for the new pariah nexus mission cards and starting to digest the new scenarios, the new points changes and learning a lovely lesson in how hard deep strike 9 inch charges are it's a bit of new and a bit of old in todays battle report! We were super excited to start experimenting with the new meta, changes to core rules, changes to deployments and scoring, and some points changes make this a long bat rep, but moving from 10th edition to 10.5 edition was always going to be this way.
Dave is back with the Death Guard after a bit of a hiatus (apparently having a baby gets in the way of rolling dice?) and man are they still a menace. Indirect nerfs aside, there's still a lot of play in big blobs of very durable Plague Marines and Terminators they very much put the Grey Knights through their paces!
In the silver corner, Will takes the Grey Knights back to the field in the lead up to our first BIG tournament attendance at the Leeds GT in August. There's a few changes to points and rules for the GK, but it's been a hot minute since the sons of titan have hit the channel and some mistakes were made. Also some dice were rolled and were terrible. Definitely not an excuse....

Quick heads up on some weird DG minutia @54.30 you wouldn't get cover because a 3+ save can only ever go to a 3+ & the contagion is -1save not -1ap
15:16 Haloed in soulfire can only be used in the grey knights movement phase. It is not reactive.

@@WeirdWolfGames I like it. It fits the strategic planning style of grey knights. It also requires a teleport assault advance or deep strike.
Totally does! I just have a small brain and can’t think that far in advance!
IIRC you must have used TA or Deep strike on the unit in addition to it being your movement phase.
They said we could not corrode their silver armor. They said we could not corrupt their warp connections. We put them to the test, but not all can pass. Hail the legion of the Grandfather! What a great battle report. I definitely think more baby carriers will be great, but good play on both sides! Enjoy the free gifts Drago! Hahaha! Can't wait for the next one. Let's get ready for that tourney!

Keep in mind the Grandmaster and their unit would ignore the -1 toughness and -1 save ( and if the opponent uses armor of contempt, cloud of flies, -1 damage and so on)

Everytime I see a report of grey knights vs death guard I just immediately think of the game chaos gate believing that the knights are still dealing with ever constant threat of from the “seed”.
Hah! It's a fun matchup but grindy, and the debuffs from the Death Guard hurt them so much. Haven't tried chaos gate yet but it's on the list!
I might genuinely like either Grey Knights or Deathwatch if their models weren't so archaic. And I'm a man who owns an Eldar army from the 90s that is still mainly up to date.
This is true sadly for the knights, especially the marine bodies! I still think the terminators are badass so have always wanted to lean into those
@@WeirdWolfGames My son was just given tons and tons of firstborn marines to help his collection, found out most of them are actually Deathwatch and largely up to date still. I just want a terminator assault squad and some chapter-specific upgrade sprues.

The -1 save contagion isn’t effected by cover btw. It is omnipresent.

Note that "benefit of cover" grants a plus 1 to the save of the attacked unit and doesn't affect ap of weapon profiles, so it will counter act the minus 1 from the contagion even though the contagion is not bonus ap.
@@M0r7r3d0rthis is true, however you cannot use cover to increase your save from a 3+ to a 2+. The contagion changes your save to a 3+ so you can't go back to a 2+ via cover.
@Mrblowfish333 you are referencing a specific situation which was not singled out by the oc. I agree with your comment in situations where the ap of the weapon being saved against has 0 ap, but I don't see why it's relevant to the post.
Nice game, no wonder you only every hit once with the land raiders lascannon you are only rolling half of them! They are equipped with two of the profile having four shots!
