I don't know if EREN knew he was going to fail to complete the rumbling? I always thought Eren saw up to the rumbling but didn't see the full full picture until he took the founding, in which the rest filled in and he THEN realized he couldn't complete the rumbling, from there orchestrating the best future for his friends under the pre-requisite that he can't do the FULL rumbling.
It is obvious to everyone at a certain point that Eren and Mikasa love each other and even Armin tells her well in advance that Eren lied when he said he hated her. Many question the fact that Eren's love for Mikasa as has developed only at the end. In reality, already from the scene of the almost first kiss "I'll wrap my scarf around you as many times as you want" it is clear to the two of their respective feelings. Mikasa has loved Eren since she was a child, while we know that boys mature later than girls. Then a very important dialogue to make readers understand how much Eren had been in love with Mikasa for a long time is when he asks his brother Zeke for advice and confirmation if the Arckerman family had in their DNA a sort of order to defend the royal members. When Zeke denies it, he also tells him that it is because the girl is in love with him, and advises him, knowing that Eren felt the same for her to ask that question, to live with her for the years he has left. The story ends with the denial of free will as Eren has no ability to change the fate of events and therefore it is Eren himself who makes Mikasa understand that he loves her and for this reason to make the right decision for everyone and pushes her to do it. Then Eren declares to Armin not to tell her that he cried and that he wants her to always be with him, because at this point Mikasa already knows that he loves her too. In the end Eren and Mikasa meet again in the afterlife as shown in the official song ''itterasshai''. The lyrics of the love song tell that Mikasa has only loved him her entire life and has only been waiting for the moment to see him again.
I just finished AOT yesterday, and this is exactly how I interpreted it. It was love her for 4 years and have everyone die by the Marleyans, or be the villain and have her live to old age
Of course not, but aot is a time loop. He did everything to try and change the future and failed. He knew the only way to save his friends and the island was for me to die. He knew Mikasa’s answer regardless if he asked her or not, but he was praying that she’d say something different than what he saw in his future memories.
I think I figured it out some of the stuff you need to love anime. If you say I'm wrong, respectfully I know your taste better than you. Female characters is huge aspect. Lovable characters I'd say for you matter a little more than interesting character. No fanservice. magic. love story, easy hype, fight scenes, pacing, and I guess filler. Vinland Saga is incredible (It is perfection. You say opinions can't be wrong which I agree but opinions can be bad and my friend your opinion on Vinland Saga not it.) but it does lack in these aspects. It doesn't have much female characters. In S2 there is one really good one but still not much. You LOVE characters that you can just root for and are just meant to be lovable like Deku, Tanjiro and Yuji (hate him). Vinland Saga doesn't have lovable characters. It has some of the most interesting characters in any show that I could deep dive into forever but from what I have seen from you that is 2nd to lovable. Vinland has no fanservice. It does not have magic. Magic is cool but I love real life hand to hand combat just as much. Love Jackie Chan movies and I watch combat sports. It is so awesome and feels more personal, so I like it just as much and maybe more. Vinland is very hype, but it is not insta dopamine Unga Bunga hype like DS and JJK. The hype comes from the little things characters do and because the characters are so incredible it hits for real. It has very good fight scenes but you like magic and crap so you might not like it. Vinland pacing is very good. Season 1 is fast paced but Season 2 is VERY slow, so you won't like it, I think. Vinland has no filler. Ultimately, I think it's just not for you. It is perfect but lacks in things I found you love, and I am never wrong. You said you are trying to learn to love it which I experienced. I tried to do that with 86. Everyone said it was amazing, and it was like AOT. When I watched, I was trying to love it but never did. With 86 I was so bored and unengaged the whole time because it lacked something I love. interesting characters. I didn't like anyone in 86. Everyone was just so boring. I just didn't want to follow and learn more about anyone in 86 and I never felt this way about any anime before. Cause I did not like anyone, the plot was just not interesting. Like I barely knew there was a mystery because I was unengaged since I did not care what happened to these characters. I could not even laugh at 86 like I do with JJK to be entertained. I was just finishing it because I heard it was amazing (from you too). 86 was the worst thing to me. Not bad but BORING that's because I found no character likable besides one (The robot dog) and all the other problems stem from that. 86 I'm sure is a good show but not for me. You say you are waiting for the life changing S2 of Vinland sage but why? I do not see how like season 2 if you are not loving S1. S2 is way more boring and slower and has "filler" and is only engaging if you love season 1. I don't understand people who do not like S1 and like S2 or vice versa. You just miss the entire point of the show, the seasons are different and the same. Thorfinn redemption arc is not going to hit at all without the amazingness of season 1. It's like Zuko redemption (arguably better), but I didn't just like Zuko because he was redeemed, I loved it because the story was beautiful. IDK what I'm saying anymore but I do not get why keep watching the show for something that at least to me I have no reason to believe will hit you that hard Overall watch shows you love and have investment into like MIDjutsu Kaisen and DeMID slayer (this is a joke. kind of). and except that PERFECTION form start to still going. is just not for you. I just have no reason to think you will love it at all if you do not by now but be stubborn like me and convince yourself that you have to love everything that is consider great.
I read every word of this. I think it’s a wonderfully accurate assessment. And I see all of your points. However I do think I still have hope for it capturing me fully. My husband is often watching an edit that sounds INSANELY good and it’s always Vinland saga. So I will finish season 1 and I do appreciate thorfinn so far. I have hoped that I see the vision because I’m not trying to be stubborn and really want to love it as much as my followers and husband. We shall see

It also completely contradicts his speech to armin, how he wants Mikasa to pine over him forever, and that he does not want to leave them
Of course not, but aot is a time loop. He did everything to try and change the future and failed. He knew the only way to save his friends and the island was for me to die.
