My favourite opening to a bond film ever. God I miss the days the score had some oomph. The bond theme is unbeatable so why do the modern films feel embarrassed to use it. The music when the jet takes off has me every time. This Is Bond
I remember someone posted in one of these videos criticizing the Bond theme being supposedly overused in this movie. You can probably blame it on people like that.
Agreed 100%. The theme can be overused but David Arnold did a great job with every movie he scored. Can remember the number of times I rewinded the VHS before Pierce takes off with the jet. Goosebumps.

"missile is out of range"...... God, I loved Pierce Brosnan as Bond. I may be biased because I grew up to him being Bond, but he's my favorite Bond of all time. And Goldeneye is my favorite Bond film.
DonCorleone87 He had the combination of all the qualities needed to make an Excellent Bond. Charming, sophisticated, suave, determined, tall, dark and handsome, excellent manner of delivering his lines because of his amazing body language, his expressions which made Bond look more human and finally, getting serious when it is required. Not like the brooding Bond portrayed by Craig.
DonCorleone87 Also my fave! Connery was the best, but Brosnan was my favorite! His version was fiercely intelligent - I always got the feeling that he was thinking his way out of a jam! He also ran in character, like his life actually was in danger!

I'd disagree, John Barry's last film with Bond, The Living Daylights I feel was the best in the franchise. Still Arnold's first outing was a really strong one.
The "Surrender" theme a little after the 7 minute mark is epic! Wish he did an entire instrumental track around that melody and that the vocal version remained the main theme, but at least they kept it in the credits.

No, it's not just you. David Arnold used cues from the From Russia with Love soundtrack in his own for Tomorrow Never Dies. In this case, he referenced the "James Bond Is Back" motif that bookends the "Opening Titles" of the former film.

Garbage.

I think it's the slow build that makes this one work. It adds nicely to the suspense in the movie giving one of the best cold opens in the franchise!
