I am glad i found this chsnnel by pure accident! I thought that i was the last van guy around! Talk about proving me wrong! Keep up the good videos and keep on vannin!
Great video featuring the front row Best of Show winners from previous Nationals! Great to see Brass 1 first up, it really flew under the radar at the event. It won Best of Show at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Nationals.
Old enough to remember the van craze of the 70's, but not old enough to have one myself at the time. I bought every car and van magazine i could afford as a kid. I'm partial to all those pre-'72 vans, the D-100 being my absolute favorite. Thank you for the show!
Yes that's Jen from Orlando Street Vans "Boogie Nights" van. It debuted at the 49th Van Nationals and won the coveted Flying Eagle Award (Best of show for first time shown at a Van Nationals). JJ Lightning's YT channel has a video with Jen showing details of the van that they recorded at 50th Nats. Thanks for the comment!
I see the signs breaking things up according to makes and years. That's pretty common at most general shows as well. But is there a pecking order within the groupings? Or a few are selected to be in their own group of upper echelon builds? I'm not planning on spending fortunes on my 76 Maxi. I just want to have fun and get with people around Central Illinois who are into vans. Watching these gets me motivated to start getting greasy and getting it up and running.
Thanks for watching & commenting. The signage breaks up the vans for the judging of the van show. There are awards within each make, certain year ranges, and then classed as "street", "mild custom", and "custom" within each year range depending on the number of mods made to the van. More info about judging can be found at vannationalsboard.org - Other smaller events have different ways of awarding trophies, but at Nats - since there's so many vans - there are lots of classes, and also many different 'best of' categories as well. Hope this helps clarify! No need to have a show van to get into a van party - all you need is a van to get through the gates and have some fun like you mention!
no pecking order. after a van has won the best of show twice, no longer eligible for best of show award. they go into a special class best of best of. the vans shown up by the large banner were all previous best of show winners
Probably because these recordings are from the GM/Chevy section of the show field. We've got more footage to edit and post a Part 2 and maybe Part 3. There will probably be some Fords & Dodges in those vids.
