It's not what MSL said, it's how he said it. He doesn't act like this toward anyone else. Especially considering that Xhekaj is not the biggest problem on this team. I hope it's just tough love but it still irks me.
MSL should get a defensive structures specialist…but he will have to give to get. Their development process needs more teaching, and accountability. The players are quite young and need some structural goals…not just concepts, as MSL is fond of saying.
@@pierregagne1937 maybe tampa would in an assistant position but I don’t see any team giving him the head coaching position since he has no prior relevant experience.
Imagine Montreal getting Šimon Nemec (I m from Slovakia) and I would love to see Nemec play with slafkovsky… these two can really play together at PP. What are your thoughts?
And just what has MSL said about the players who lost the last two games??? Instead his comments are on the guy who didn't even play?!?!? Gimme a break... maybe MSL should listen to fans who buy tickjets and merchandise and watch games? Fans are not experts but they are the audience so MSL should be paying attention... he isn't a rookie any more either by the way...
Marty has had no success at the NHL level as of yet. His singling out of Xhekaj is a joke. Check out the plus and minus over the past two years. Arber is far from the problem. Maybe Marty should have a chat with Scotty Bowman. He knew how to use tough defenseman and the importance of physicality on the back end.
Primeau's a good AHL Goalie PERIOD ! This Sunday he's up again, uh oh ! Send him down and bring up one of the two down there who are both having great starts !. If he gets picked up - who cares !. No player that I can remember has EVER been given this long a leash to prove he can play in the Bigs than Primeau !
Hi, all! There's not much more we can say about Demidov, (SUPERSTAR). Xhekaj, does need to realize that he's not a rookie anymore. I'm still wrestling in my mind on who my next favorite Hab after Gally retires will be. It's between Xhekaj and Demidov. Have a great night, everyone!
I was watching another Habs channel and a couple of weeks ago. Suggested we trade for Rasmus Andersson. He's not old. But not young. At 27 years of age. He's in that sweet spot of experienced but still a lot of Hockey to show. He's also a RD. Two way. And has a cheap contract. I think the price will be high. But with Calgary probably still being a bottom team, could sell him. He fits our needs and timelines. Here Is a of mock trade I've made: MTL: Rasmus Andersson CGY: 2025 First (CGY), Logan Mailloux, Oliver Kapanen I think for us to aquire him. They have to get their first back. I dont see them tanking without their first this season. It just dosent make sense. I know we love Kapanen and Mailloux. But you can't have everything. And I think again. With Laine healthy and Andersson we're very if not a wildcard team.
Thanks for that 4u2. I do like Rasmus however I do wonder if the Flames would be willing to trade him given their fast start. In sports, momentum is so important so the Flames could possibly overachieve given their fast start. Rasmus will turn 28 in 2 days and will be UFA in 2 years so he could cost $7-8M pa to sign. Will that fit into Habs salary structure given the long-term commitments to 4 young players so far and more to follow? I have seen Kapanen play often given I live overseas and IMO he is a solid 3C so he could be expendable along with a 1st however I think including Mailloux would be too much given the age difference. Also tbh, if Mailloux hadn't messed up he in all likelihood would have been drafted much earlier so I would not be keen to trade him at this point in time.
@terrylarson7596 Yep, second in ice time next to Douggie Hamilton. 5 points already. Was our best plus minus for 2 years. Keefe said thanks Marty I know what to do with this guy. Now their doing the same with Xhekaj. People think Xhekaj is only a fighter because of the limited role MSL has him playing. 16 points in 18 playoff games for Hamilton. 6 goals 10 assists. Why? He was playing 20 plus minutes every game..
I said it before here and elsewhere, +11 RD Kovacevic with the best contract was a mistake to trade. And it was I that was saying you can find decent RD on free agency. Dougie Hamilton was once acquired on free agency. And you don't have to cross your fingers and hope they develop properly as is the case with Reinbacher. He should turn out to be fine but the opportunity cost was a Leonard type which you can't find on free agency. Seems like they want to be in the playoff race this year so they should have kept Kovacevic and acquired the RD they are now trying to acquire. It would have kept Barron and Mailloux in Laval, and Savard Kovacevic on the bottom pairs. And oh yeah, they need scoring and sustained pressure from bottom 6, and the homers thought the playoffs was possible.
Hutson can go -4 on a night and still log 20+ minutes of ice time and Arber gets 12 or 14. They would be insane to trade Arber, but it would be the best thing for his career.
Id trade matheson for a stand at home dman the same age or alittle older. Matheson is one of our older players but hes also not defensive.. they need defensive minded vets not offensive because they already have enough offence on the back end
Give away 60 points? The Habs need all the O they can get. D is youngest in the league and the upside is crazy good for their future. I think Mtl is on the right track.
@Trumpsterfire101 WELL MSL played him like a 6th or 7th defenseman. I guess Hughes bought into that. Gave him away for a fourth round pick. Pathetic. The people that think Xhekaj is just a fighter are pathetic. The guy got 16 points in 18 games in the playoffs with Hamilton. Why? Because he was playing 20 plus minutes a game..
They can trade for all the defensemen they want but the BIG problem is still Robidas and Letowski. Until they get rid of those two incompetent defensive coaches, their defense won't improve. Seems like the most obvious thing to me so I'm surprised no one mentions this. You can have a good defense even if you only have average or below average skill defensemen that are well coached with a solid system. However, the inverse isn't true, even skilled defensemen will look lost if the coaching is subpar.
All I'm saying, Nashville isn't performing this year, they have a young Quebecer named Zachary L'Heureux who could be an amazing 4th liner and could replace Anderson in the future and (out of context) Alex Carrier could be a good match for Matheson
If Demidov is a 8/10 offensively on MTL that number drops to a 6/10.If Demidov went to a better run org he becomes a 9/10.Just like Laine demidov will have very little impact because the Habs struggle in their own end EVERY single game how can a Laine or Demidov score if the puck in in the defensive end all game?

@steve8803 agreed and suzuki doesn't have to be the big points guy...we got demidov for that. 70 pts, 20 minutes and selke type center is great for a top pairing center. our hole is 2c. dach ain't it.
