Liwonde is one of two flagship wildlife reserves in Malawi, but it is very different to it’s southern relative, Majete.
Liwonde is all about big open vistas and the benign Shire river that flows through the area, attracting large herds of animals from the surrounding parched terrain.
We spent a couple of days camped just outside the park and entered daily to go on our game drives.
