Pete. I definitely hear you when you said that Gary Moore was, and still is, very special to you. Well...I'm in that crowd with you! Not only is Gary my favorite guitar player of all time, he was the sole reason why I started playing guitar in the first place! As a guitar player, I've listened to many guitar players over the years (I'm 55 now), but NO guitar player has affected me like Mr. Gary Moore! Sadly...I never had the chance to see him play live! I envy those who have! R.I.P. Gary.

I miss Gary Moore so much. His solo in "Story of the Blues" from After Hours gives me chills. Pete, you are not the only one who get misty eyed abut Gary. I will buy this now.

Thanks for sharing your experience Pete. Like you, we love Gary and miss him terribly. Couldn’t wait to get this album. The recording is crystal clear and his playing was stupid good! “Live From London,” especially the vinyl version is SCARCE in our area. I have to think Provoge didn’t expect the album to do as well as it did. We love everything he did, but ADORE his blues stuff!

I wish they'd release more concerts from his hard rock era like the We Want Moore album. Thanks for this Pete, didn't know that this had been released. Stay safe brother.

my number 1 six-stringer, from way back in the day. Saw him twice in his rock heyday, including the Victims of The Future tour.
I turned on a few guitar players to Gary and they never failed to be blown away. Gary's passion and fire on the guitar was on another level.
    Miss him a lot

    Thx for the review.
I have the Blues Alive laserdisc, the awesome concert with BB King. I dt understand why this is not re-edited and remasterised on dvd or/and Bluray.
Millions of fans wait for it for years.

"Corridors of Power" was his first LP for me back in 1982. I like very much of his eighties stuff, but not very deep for his blues-period though. Great guitarist he was!

Gary Moore was great live performer even though I prefer his Hard Rock era especially 1987-1989 I'am going to listen to this. Parisienne Walkways is one of my favorite song ever.

I am a huge Gary Moore fan. My favorite guitarist of all time. I used to buy all his singles back in the day. I have a bunch of 12", 7" and CD singles. Tons of hard to find tracks also.

I not only got the deluxe CD of this album(I’m not punching out the guitar picks, keeping it “complete”), I got the vinyl version. Amazing clarity! Love “Blues and Beyond” too. Ended up getting the 4 LP and the CD box set.”Live In London” is a beautiful example of what a monster blues player he was.🙏🏻❤️🎸🔥 #ripgarymoore

Thanks for the review. I love all of his music. I have a soft spot for Don't Take Me For A Loser. It was the first thing I heard of his as a kid. Probably not the greatest song he ever wrote or wailed on but I still go back there from time to time for a listen.

GM is a top 5 guitar player for me. I'm a fan of the hard rock years, but can appreciate the blues era. COP and VOTF are huge albums for me. I remember when RFC was released and I wanted it so bad. I saved my lawn mowing money, and rode my 10 speed to a local record store to buy on cassette.

Moore was the first artist I saw at an outdoor concert as a kid. He opened for Krokus and Def Leppard on the Pyromania tour.

Hey ya Pete! I meet EVH at a hotel in Mannheim Germany after the women and children first tour and asked him what he thought of Gary. He told me " man, if Gary had a pretty face, we would all be in trouble!" I miss Gary too, I cried when he died. He took me through so much when I was in school! Seeing him with Thin Lizzy for the Black rose tour in a basketball hall in Mannheim 79 changed my life, it was so personal. Stay safe man....... ;)

Have you done a ranking of Gary Moore’s albums yet Pete?

  • @SmedleyWarIsaRacket
    @SmedleyWarIsaRacket 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Guitar playing is not a competition, it is subjective and everyone has their own opinions about who is the best and nobody is wrong, with that said it cannot be ignored that Gary Moore is blisteringly ferocious to the point that all other shredders know he is the man, an inspiration, an influence!
I do not want to get into the debate that this guy is this and that guy is that but anyone who appreciates the guitar simply cannot listen and hear Gary and not appreciate the skill, the dexterity, the chops.
Gary may not have attained the fame of many other guitar players but those who know his work know that Gary is indeed among the very best that have ever walked this planet.....and few if any will ever exceed his efforts!

Thanks for the review Pete. Will pick this up. My biggest wish for future Gary Moore releases is the Wild Frontier Tour, live at Isstadion Stockholm 87 on Blue Ray, cd and vinyl. Played the vhs to death back in the day.

@Suzie.q Popcorn123 I remember buying the '87 Stockholm VHS and being quite disappointed. I didn't like all the keyboard stuff and overall I think the Emerald Aisles Concert is much much better. Empty rooms is very good. Am Watching it as I type this.

I already have it but thanks for the review Pete. Why don't you try the guitar picks on your very beautiful cherry Sunburst Les Paul ? I've used the picks on my Epiphone, but I need more than that to walk in Gary's shoe !

Hey Pete great new Gary Moore; had one opportunity to see him with Lizzy on the "Black Rose" tour with Journey, but 3 days before concert he quit Lizzy and he was replaced with Midge Uge of Ultravox and well needless to say that was a huge letdown. Thank you Pete for your show.

Saw him live a couple of times. He got quite annoyed with the audience because most were just staring open mouthed trying to figure what the hell he was doing on the guitar instead of getting in to the music. Incredibly versatile musician.

Bought the CD only because I thought the boxed set was a little over-priced for what's in there. Mind you I bought the 'Blues & Beyond' set so who am I to judge value for money? Agree totally on the review of the album. I think I prefer the live material from the above mentioned set but Gary Moore was never less than very good when he performed live.

Gary Moore smokes most of the blues players no doubt, but I prefer his hard rock era.Great songs with tremendous playing.I love how he said screw it to traditional blues tone and cranked the sustain.
