Hey Tony! I went crabbing this weekend at SPI, South TX. It was my first time crabbing and I caught 6 keepers. It was hella fun, so thanks for doing what u do. I did exactly what u did, but next time I’ll have 4 traps instead of 2. Great vids, dog
Tony i love that you finally got your own channel i loved you in your wifes videos you were kinda shy but now Look at Gaaawwwd you blossemed into a great content creator ❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 love watching your videos and yes im mos def subscribed
If you watch my videos? You know that I only keep the bigger crabs. I try and encourage everyone to let the smalls go. Especially the females, but there is no size limit in the state of florida on blue crabs. myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/recreational/blue-crab/
The times we went crabbing, we never kept the females or smaller ones. We would set them free and tell them to eat well and go grow up. The kids always liked that. :D @@CrabbingWithTony
Hey tony. Thanks to you I always wanted to crab and now I have started. first two times out. I caught about 12 one day and 8 the next. I went out a total of 3. one spot nothing was hitting, but 2nd one had results. There's a place close to the carnival cruise ship (dunn creek) got quite a bit. Other spot was Bert Maxwell boat ramp off Broward Rd off i95 (trout river) they had nice size crabs. anywhere's from 6.5 - 8 inches!!!
All the noise you make when you walk and dropping the bucked down causes vibrations that might spook the crabs. I'm rooting for you to get some big crabs. They sure are clean little guys. The bugs you were talking about are cicadas and it's pronounced, si-caa'-das. My mom always called them, "Hot Bugs." LOL! They sure do make a lot of noise when they're active, don't they. LOL! Love the video and I wish I could be crabbing along with you. 🥰😁
@@CrabbingWithTony Thank you. The reason I did say something is because it sounded like the decking was metal and it went right down into the water. Most of the time, crabs are so greedy that they will pull back and fight you for their meal and that gets them caught! 😁
I went crabbing earlier today here on the Chesapeake. After 4 hours only caught 1 and it was too small 😞. Others on the pier caught a total of 5 or so. Sad to see. I would love to crab down where you’re at in Jacksonville where the catch is still good. At least, I got watch you catch some crab today. 😂
It's the pain on the Crab trap Is just something the crabs don't like you have to just let it sit in the you got to let the salt eat some of that off for or either steam the trap
I carry a paint stick in my back pocket that I pick up at the big box stores and I mark it at the five, six, seven, eight, and nine inch lines with a sharpie. Always know what size the crab is with the stick. Those box traps with the tops are a pain to get the doors down in any kind of current. Topless traps are hassle free. They are so effective, they should be illegal I bet you are smiling today about the Jaguars win.
Great videos again Tony! Man I’ve crabbed at some of the spots you’ve been (PV, OH, & JB) I’m never that lucky like you. I have metal ring nets and use drums for bait. I live in Jax Beach, Man happy crabbing! I’m a lil jealous man.😅
on the Tsunami Crab trap, try using a S hook or a big swivel between the rope and strings where u have it tied together that may help with the spining of the strings on the crab trap
New subscriber and I’m going crabbing this weekend, wish me luck with getting the giants also. I can do this all day I love crabbing and the excitement of seeing them in my basket.
I switched to the Foxy Mate 66 crab trap. I have 4 of them and they are better construction than the Marathon Cube Trap, Give them a try, The Foxy Mate 66 is only 6 inches tall and 10.5 inches square, perfect for crabs. I hang the bait off the ceiling of the trap. Works with bait fish and chicken breasts real good.
Look for the foxy-mate brand collapsable traps. They're a little smaller than that one you have (they arent as tall/have a lower profile), but in my experience, aren't nearly as aggravating and they work great. I always like to take a couple with me bc you can sling them out further than the drop nets. They'll also hit the bottom and open when the current is ripping like that
We have always used the pyramid-shaped crab traps and they work great. We live in Louisiana. They open up easily and when they are tossed into the water, they close up into the pyramid shape.
Never nothing Tony I think that square trap is a joke I caught one snake and little puny crab The rest of the crab traps are doing really good they got to stick to your guns hate to be an a****** about a lot of stuff but it looked like kind of a joke to me especially when I'm used to watching you fish with you do but it was worth a shot sell it for half price maybe you can get some bait next time you go out have a good day still love to watch the show😊😊👍👍👍✌️
Love watching Your videos. I especially love it whenever I'm able to see you Pull the crab out of the water. You do an awesome job with your videos and you're videos ARE. one of my very favorite crabbing Channel. Have fun and keep crabbing.
Hey do you know if you can run a crabbing trot line in Florida. I cannot get a clear ruling on this. In Maryland I run a 600 to 1200 foot trot line from my kayak when I crab. That water that you crab with your traps looks so inviting to run a trot line from a kayak. Good job on catching those tasty crabs from your traps.
I don't know how you do it, Every time I go out I don't catch anything except this one time and it wasn't even big enough. What are you preferred times to go? I went out yesterday around 3pm out of no where just to test my luck and had no action or signs whatsoever. I'm located in Tampa Fl.
@@CrabbingWithTony All the spot are exactly like yours, small almost hidden docks and fishing areas. I've got a big list of spots I still need to pull to so we'll see how the rest of them goes.
I'm about to pack it in down here and head up your way! I went to 3 spots in the Daytona area Saturday and all shorts. Gonna keep looking. Check this out Tony - new price list from the fish guy. They're out of their minds! Live blue crabs just arrived! Jumbo $75/doz. Large $55/doz. Medium $35/doz.

Never use that little black thing on the box traps -that black coiled piece that you have the string going through.
