It took a long time of convincing my mom that I would be as safe as I can be. Taking a safety course and explaining all of the highly protective gear I have purchased. She is still nervous about me riding but has realized how much happiness it brings me and is trying to be OK with it. Even at 44 I am still her baby and always will be.
Glad to see your family is supportive. Mine was the same way concerned about safety but also supportive. I do wish our Cycle Gear had that much stuff. I went in and most of the shelves were empty. This was in September before the holiday rush so that was not the issue, They might have had one example of each style but almost all of them were extra small. Only thing they had reliably was helmets. Ended up getting most of my gear online but would rather be able to try it on first.
Nice jacket. I just traded my Harley Road Glide for a Rebel 1100 DCT this past Tuesday and I LOVE this bike. It is so fun to ride. I'm short, so pushing around almost 1000lbs is tough...but the Rebel is like half the weight and just awesome to move. I went with a red & black mesh jacket myself. Keep riding Rea & glad your parents are with you now too
🤣 my parents especially my mom were not happy when I was lookin for a motorcycle but as soon as I brought it home my mom wanted to do a photoshoot of me on it.
Just found your videos ! I’m back to riding street took a 2 year break (life happened ) but I’m back! Got myself a Rebel 500. I love the small size& price tag! Took my first ride yesterday, outside of the neighborhood and the sketchy feel was there !! Curious why don’t you want a black jacket ?
Hi! Nice Rebel 500 ☺ I have a black jacket already and since my bike is blacked out I just feel like a lighter color jacket might help me stand out more
Really like the jacket you picked out. Having that rain liner is so important. Wearing a summer jacket on the interstate in the rain without the liner hurts. At that speed the rain feels like little stones that go right to your skin. Also if you find the temperature suddenly drops on your ride, the rain liner is an excellent wind blocker.
Another beginner, just like me. I wish you good luck on your journey. Cycle gear where I live are really nice and friendly people. Now moving to Mexico in a few months. Going for an ADV bike. Liked and subscribed.
I was in my mid forties when I bought my first motorcycle and never told my dad! I did not want him to worry about me then in his eighties. When he passed away I gave him in his ⚱️ one ride along with me. It was a special moment with some interesting events all of which are truly special.
I got a Reax perforated leather jacket several years ago, and here in Oregon, it works well below 80 degrees. Well armored. Just took delivery on a Transalp and am building it out (bash plate/crash bars) so she’ll be ready in the spring
My dad rode himself (dirt bikes) and he was really happy for me. Told me to be careful of course. My mom already passed away by the time I decided to start riding. But she wouldn't be a big fan but would support me and telling me to be really careful I bet. Also subbed!
Lovely parents! I think they can rest easy, your riding has greatly improved in a short space of time! And having good gear is an absolute must. Saved my ass multiple times. 🙈
Lol just got the black guy version of that same jacket because it was on sale a couple of weeks back. The only thing I don’t like about it is the sleeves are short for me… Anyway, congrats on the new jacket.
My parents are still in blissful ignorance, and I'll leave it like that. I don't want them worrying about it all the time, nobody needs this level of anxiety for something that can't be changed.
I see your rer view mirror appears to be not adjusted propper. Always be aware of the traffic around you, even behind you in case you need to stop or avert a rear end accident..
I did`t tell anybody about me taking my motorbike licence, I bought a bike a week before my test (and of course did take a few rides with out it) and once I got it my Mom was in the hospital and I drove there and made a visit with all my gear on, she could do nothing as she was bedridden, a month later I did take her for a ride on the back to get ice cream at the beach and she did like it, she did have a boyfrind when she was young (in the 60ish) who had a bike.
My parents hated it. I recently got another Goldwing after a lengthy hiatus. I ain't telling my dad. Or my brother because he has a big mouth. My dad is 92. I don't see any reason to worry him. I'm 63 and still hiding stuff from my parents........go figure.
@RidewithRea They ordered me to return it to the person I bought it from. I refused, so they sold my car, which they had bought for me the previous year, to a friend of mine so I only had the motorcycle as transportation for the next year until I joined the navy.
My Mom freaked out too but you gotta live your life. I love my Honda Fury and it has changed my life for the best.
This is perfect. Dad is smiling and Mom is concerned for your life! Great parents!!!
“Are u crazy?”…. Lol she loves you
😂😂

Hahahaha that’s too good 😂
Good Jacket, I have a similar one for summer, different color. Keep the shiny side up and be careful out there.

Thanks! I really like the interior liner :) I think it’ll be perfect because it rains on and off a lot here

Aww I get that you didn’t want to worry him. I’m glad you were able to have a special moment!

bro, when you said "cus you wouldn't approve of it" and your dad chuckled lmao.. he was rebellious in his day.
Hahaha where does he think I got it from? 😂
