Can I just talk about how much I love the Death and Dracula combination fight? Initially I hated it because I thought it was just another lazy "big boss" fight, but over time I've grown to really appreciate it. This fight is a good test of player positioning and attack timing, and it rewards out of the box solutions, like using your partner as bait to trick Death, blocking fireballs with the Tome of Arms 3, and using Clear Skies to nullify the scythe fireball attack(as shown in this video), just to name a few. Even though it more or less makes you use holy options, it allows for both ranged and melee approaches, as well as a good mish mash of both, and what you choose actually significantly changes how you approach the battle. To give an example in just one category, consider the three holy weapons you can take to the battle, the Holy Claymore, the True Vampire Killer and the Stellar Sword. All of them are viable in this battle, and all offer different advantages. The True Vampire Killer is fast and has decent horizontal range but lacks vertical reach, the Holy Claymore does more reliable damage and is good at hitting Death with its vertical range but lacks somewhat in speed and horizontal reach, and the Stellar Sword is a fast but somewhat short ranged weapon you can use if you feel confident about getting in lots of melee hits. All in all, this is a great battle and I feel if its difficulty wasn't so easily trivialized on Normal and the game clued players better into trying out of the box strategies this would have been talked about a lot more. Oh, and you played this boss well, though you did go a bit cautious. I don't blame you though.
Yea, that's about it. This fight is full of quirks and is overall pretty interesting all things considered. But then again, _what in the flying fuck_ were they thinking when they decided to put a Level 1 limit mode? It's impossible to keep the game balanced between it and the "normal" game. I can't seem to find a middle ground when I'm playing; I either go crazy with little regard for safety or stay a little too much on defensive.
@Dev of Anj I'm on this boss now and it's eating me out, I'm struggling, I stocked up on potions and spells but it still kills me, I'm trying not to use the power of the vampire killer because I don't know if it effects the story
Dude this HELPED so much I could not dodge Final Drac's stupid sytche move and his knee move I used Holy Claymore and Mastered Cross and Charlotte with INT Boost
huh never thought of using sanctuary for that unavoidable attack that dracula and death do all i did was just try and walk through dracula (taking damage in the process) i completely forgot about that spell but whatever i already beat it so who cares
Just curious, why didn't you use the Berserker Mail throughout the playthrough? I guess it was too much of a no brainer, since it's a milder version of the Death ring and you don't plan to take any hits in this playstyle anyway.
-I wanted more challenge.- Truth be told? I completely forgot about that thing until a friend came along and asked me the same thing, but by that point I had already completed even Nest of Evil. Can't say I was happy to have let that one slip my mind.
The tempest. I didn't even think of that. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I hate how all of the combination spells only do like 1 damage on hard mode/lv.1. And I can't finish the INT side quest to raise enough MP to use the greatest 5 spell.
Is it weird I found the first form of this boss more difficult than the second? Probably not, but seriously. It seems like Final Dracula has less defense/MND/whatever than the first phase. In the first phase getting hits in is somewhat annoying and difficult, and it doesn't do a whole lot of damage. The first form took absolutely forever for me. The second form... Not nearly as much. All of his attacks are easy to dodge once you know how to do it (Duck/slide the knee kick, jump the first bat-sickle and just avoid the rest, react and dodge the hand-slam, position for the wing-laser, spam against the wing-smash). Plus he just leaves himself open to damage a lot more than Dracula did in the first phase. I died once on the first phase. I didn't die at all on the second. Weird.

If you are doing a lvl 1 run first complete the game then do the "impossible" side quest of raise a certain stat
