I just must listen to this at least once a day. It’s so very fine! Give a listen to what is going on here! Thanks to Special Consensus and the incredible Claire Lynch! 11/23/2022
I cannot get enough of Wild Montana Skies and this version by Special Consensus and Rob Ickes with Claire Lynch! This soothes my soul! Thanks y’all! 1/5/23
Wow how awesome is this rendition of a Classic from John Denver, you have made the song, the sound all your own!!! I've had the great pleasure of seeing Special Consenses and Clair Lynch in person!!!! Such talent, such passion, thank you for reminding us of John Denver great legacy
No telling how many times I've listened to this fantastic performance. This is Shareen's and my absolutely favorite song and band. Just wish they had more videos on TH-cam.
The very best arrangement I have ever heard. From Montana here and I used to sing that song to my son before and after he was born. And guess where he settled down..........This is my first experience hearing you guys. Loved it!!
I first seen this video on the TV show, "Bluegrass Ridge". It was then that I feel in love with this band. Great version of Montana Skies. The lovely lady singing, has one of the best harmony voices I've ever heard. Can't wait to see them live.
Claire Lynch is incapable of touching anything and it not turning to gold. I actually feel bad for the artists she covers, because she does everything better.
This group surely deserves our respect. Great bluegrass . Albeit recorded 2014 it is an amazing bluegrass vid. Sure beats many other vids on YT. Great John Denver cover. One of the best
I absolutely LOVE this!! Mainly because you did a great job and did it your OWN way and did NOT try to be John Denver ( who I LOVE!! ) All at the same time you kept just enough to not make it totally different! If John could hear it I bet he he would approve!! John lives when you play this!!
Beautiful. I fully agree with all your comments. I found this video by chance. Oh happy day! A very special thanks to the guys in the back room, the sound engineers who made this recording. Chapeau. An awesome piece of work .Exquisite. It does not get any better than that, Thank you!
If you cover your eyes and just listen, you can actually hear someone singing harmony that has identical vocal qualities as John Denver and it actually sounds for a moment like he is there, singing. Wait, he probably IS there singing, and loving it.
9/27/23: Not Alison Brown, who has fine credentials of her own. It’s our long-time friend, the one and only Claire (with an ‘e’) Lynch. Special C with Claire knocked it right out of the park. We can’t get enough of this version of “Wild Montana Skies”!
9/27/23: If you enjoyed the song as much as I do each time I listen (a lot), then we both are pleased beyond words. The band and Claire would be pleased, too.
He was born in the Bitterroot Valley in the early morning rain Wild geese over the water heading north and home again Bringing a warm wind from the south Bringing the first taste of the spring His mother took him to her breast and softly she did sing Oh Montana, give this child a home Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies His mother died that summer and he never learned to cry He never knew his father and he never did ask why And he never knew the answers that would make an easy way But he learned to know the wilderness and to be a man that way His mother's brother took him in to family and his home Gave him a hand that he could lean on and a strength to call his own And he learned to be a farmer and he learned to love the land And he learned to read the seasons and he learned to make a stand Oh Montana, give this child a home Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies On the eve of his twentyfirst birthday he set out on his own He was thirty years and running when he found his way back home Riding a storm across the mountains and an aching in his heart Said he came to turn the pages and to make a brand new start Now he never told a story of the time that he was gone Some say he was a lawyer, some say he was a John There was something in the city that he said he couldn't breathe And there was something in the country that he said he couldn't leave Oh Montana, give this child a home Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies Now some say he was crazy, some are glad he's gone Some of us will miss him, we'll try to carry on Giving a voice to the forest, giving a voice to the dawn Giving a voice to the wilderness and the land that he lived on Oh Montana, give this child a home Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies Oh Montana, give this child a home Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies
I live in the Bitterroot Valley. This song is the anthem of this region!
Going to see these guys next weekend

This is AWESOME! Loved John and love this!
That was beautiful. Thank you.
Impeccable instrumentation, soulful singing like it's emanating from the Montana country itself. Americana at its best!
To me, it’s the best rendition of the song, hands down. I’m from Montana and identify with every line. Great job guys!!

That’s one of the best in the business, Claire Lynch, of the Claire Lynch Band.
WOW! Can't wait for the new album.
An excellent contemporary bluegrass band and cover of a John Denver song. And the wonderful Claire Lynch makes any band sound better
Claire Lynch is incapable of touching anything and it not turning to gold. I actually feel bad for the artists she covers, because she does everything better.
Claire Lynch is so good at what she does! She makes any band sound just right…including her own band! Bluegrasshack 11/12/2022
Beautiful bluegrass sound with their vocals, harmony and music. Lookin forward to hearing you this summer. Thanks for sharin.
This group surely deserves our respect. Great bluegrass . Albeit recorded 2014 it is an amazing bluegrass vid. Sure beats many other vids on YT. Great John Denver cover. One of the best
John Denver's music was made for bluegrass! I've been listening to this new CD and love it!!
That's because his best musicians were bluegrassers.
hallo guys I hear you for the first time. Very good job. "BRAVI" from Italy
a great rendition of one of my favorite John Denver's songs. I hope to hear more from you. Thanks
This is such a wonderful recording. Great production and just all around lovely! Thanks Greg, Claire and everyone else for this!
Nice!!! Thank you so much! Wonderful tune and impeccable performance!

Great - a proper cover version with a new interpretation instead of just a pointless copy of the John Denver/Emmylou Harris masterpeice. Love it !
This is going ot be a great album!Way to go guys!

ไพเราะมากครับ
Wow, a very impressive performance. Very nicely done.

Just found this. You guys are great! Imagine Bluegrass from a John Denver tune. Excellent!
JD did a bluegrass song.....Foxfire Suite. Look it up :)
@@itsjustmeMike527 You're welcome Michael. I saw John in 1975 and 1977 in Australia. So long ago! Wish I'd seen him more.

This song is the story of the wild west era if you ask me.
Sehr schoen
Fantastic americana music and culture, unfortunately disappearing........
WOW!!!
the best of the best,lv it jimmie pack
I believe you are mistaken in identify the female singer as Clair Lynch. I believe it is Allison Brown, who produces Special C’s albums.
I could be wrong- they look so much the same.
9/27/23: Not Alison Brown, who has fine credentials of her own. It’s our long-time friend, the one and only Claire (with an ‘e’) Lynch. Special C with Claire knocked it right out of the park. We can’t get enough of this version of “Wild Montana Skies”!
@@bluegrasshack3810 Thanks for the correction. She does such a wonderful job on this song.

Better than the original, hands-down
Claire and Ricki, make a great blend
He was born in the Bitterroot Valley in the early morning rain
Wild geese over the water heading north and home again
Bringing a warm wind from the south
Bringing the first taste of the spring
His mother took him to her breast and softly she did sing
Oh Montana, give this child a home
Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own
Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes
Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies
His mother died that summer and he never learned to cry
He never knew his father and he never did ask why
And he never knew the answers that would make an easy way
But he learned to know the wilderness and to be a man that way
His mother's brother took him in to family and his home
Gave him a hand that he could lean on and a strength to call his own
And he learned to be a farmer and he learned to love the land
And he learned to read the seasons and he learned to make a stand
Oh Montana, give this child a home
Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own
Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes
Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies
On the eve of his twentyfirst birthday he set out on his own
He was thirty years and running when he found his way back home
Riding a storm across the mountains and an aching in his heart
Said he came to turn the pages and to make a brand new start
Now he never told a story of the time that he was gone
Some say he was a lawyer, some say he was a John
There was something in the city that he said he couldn't breathe
And there was something in the country that he said he couldn't leave
Oh Montana, give this child a home
Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own
Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes
Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies
Now some say he was crazy, some are glad he's gone
Some of us will miss him, we'll try to carry on
Giving a voice to the forest, giving a voice to the dawn
Giving a voice to the wilderness and the land that he lived on
Oh Montana, give this child a home
Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own
Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes
Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies
Oh Montana, give this child a home
Give him the love of a good family and a woman of his own
Give him a fire in his heart, give him a light in his eyes
Give him the wild wind for a brother and the wild Montana skies
Rick's vocal is just so damn good!
Is that Rob Ickes on dobro? Never seen him with a beard before, but that sojnds like his Sheerhorn.

Cheer~~~a general agreement.😊
I am speechles. -- Hans Rosenthal (A.H.R.D.)
Isn't that Rob Ickes on Dobro?
Yes indeed.
You bet it is Rob Ickes! 1/20/2023
Greg...the wily vet
NOT John Denver, But I LOVE your effort to duplicate him. LOVE the "Her" that's incorporated here. JD more or less forgot to do that -- his bad.
Not trying to duplicate John Denver, and for sure Claire Lynch adds just the right touch. Take another bow, y’all! 11/15/2022
