Just constrain the center points of the vertical and horizontal of the shaft to the center point of the gear..... 5 seconds of work.

When dimensioning your center square hole, why not just dimension from the center point instead of going through all the trouble of measuring from the O.D.? What would you do if you had an odd-numbered tooth gear? I've been a toolmaker for 45 years, and I'd always take from the center. Also, that way if you found later on down the road that you had to make a change to the diameter, your gear hole would still be in the same location.I want to thank you for the instruction, since I was struggling with the INVENTOR means of making a gear, and you answered many questions. I've been using INVENTOR for about 6 years off and on (more off than on) and I'm getting back in the groove so to speak. You get a "like"!

cause the rectangle option isnt give us that , u can't start a rectangle from a center as when we do a circle, or i think we cant. :P

Make a 4 sided polygon off the center point, dimension the size, extrude and you're done!

Why not just constrain horizontal and vertical off the center point?

how did you get your gears to be exactly the same size as your extruded part? Nothing automatically happens for me

Why not use two point center rectangle... would have saved you so much time compared to the struggle you posted here...

omg this guy drags the world through 5 minutes of not being able to dimension something.... editing the vid seems not to have occurred to him
