Keep up the great work John... I found and Encyclopedia that my grandfather had from 1933 and came across the knights of the golden circle. Very interesting. Says it was an organization that felt that the war was a mistake and that the increasing power of the central government was leading toward tyranny... (If only they were alive today to see how right they were)

I just looked up the knights of the golden circle, which I had never heard of before. Very Interesting. Didn't find much of the Lies of the "Lost Cause" Myth, unlike Chris. But, of course, in 1933 if you wanted to sell Encyclopedias in any region with former confederates and their kin in residence, your product had best sing the praises of the confederacy along the lines of that myth or you weren't going to sell many. So, I'm not surprised that Chris only found a "white-washed" version of those "knights" in something published during his
Papaw's time. BTW, in the states that stayed loyal to the Union, these so-called knights were referred to as "copperheads" as in snakes.
Instead, my search just found dozens of articles that described this "fraternal" order as an secret organization of slave-owners and pro-slavers whose mission was to, as John said in this video, invade and conquer Mexico, and points south of it, to establish a virtual kingdom of slavery.
I didn't come across any "golden circle" anti-civil war sentiment but that would make sense since they didn't want to fight in North America. These dishonorable people wanted pro-slavery militias and armies to invade Mexico and then, keep going in order to enslave Central and South America. So, they probably were anti Civil War 'cause they were pro-war of conquests against all the people that lived in countries south of them.
As far as fearing the increasing political movement towards tyranny, back then, that's straight out of the "Lost Cause" BS list of reasons for secession from their duly elected government. Funny thing though. Back before the war started, when the slave states pulled out....all of them wrote in their Articles of Secession that preserving the institution of slavery was their primary reason for their actions.
Yet after their defeat by the Union forces, the "lost cause" book was published and it swore that slavery had little or nothing to do with secession. Strange.
Unfortunately, this complete load of crap was taught to generations of southern whites as their "true" history. That damn book led our nation into institutionalized racism and kept white supremacy alive long past its shelf life or expiration date. Like 150 years too long.
Our present movement towards tyranny, though, is thankfully being dealt with as I write this.
With multiple indictments and trail dates being set against the only former president in our history that planned and actively fomented sedition against our duly-elected government... along with pressuring states to "find" the votes necessary to reverse the actual will of the American People and keep himself in power.
Not to mention stealing top secret defense documents or being found Guilty of Rape in Civil Court.
All of these indictments and cases were voted on by juries of American citizens as it should be in a Republic founded under the Rule of Law. The defendants will find that in a Court of Law...only Facts talk and lies walk....hopefully into well-deserved cells.
So, I'm happy to say that it looks like this wanna-be tyrant is going to find that most Americans don't take kindly to attempted tyranny.

This is a compilation of half-thruth and myths from a member of the "woke" fraction.

@@blackjack5324 Please do elaborate on which of the facts I wrote are 'half-truths' and which are 'myths'.
Oh yeah, do add your definition of 'woke' since I have yet to find two magattes with the same meaning for that made-up word.
I can stand behind every word I wrote with historical facts such as the Articles of Secession from each of the, then, soon to be seditious slave states.
I will wait to read if you can back up your words with anything factual.
p.s. "Alternate Facts" do not count as the term is an oxymoron and therefore meaningless.
