@@floranlehmann7149 Agreed 💯. The comments you see on social media that are “well they should have evacuated” really get under my skin. This hurricane cost me $3,000 between evacuation and finishing removing a half-downed rotten tree so it didn’t fall on someone or take out the power in the neighborhood. I wont get back from either insurance OR FEMA. Sooo many people don’t have the means to take care of that. I don’t either, it will cause some hardship but at least I had the option. And we were the lucky ones.
I work at a hotel and it's true about not being able to put a roll -a-way into a king suite. At least at our hotel. It's for sure a fire code thing...kl
Wow that’s a lot for hotel. Holiday Inn Express is usually a nice comfy place to stay. Sucks you got a bum room. Glad everything worked out, sorry it was so tough 😢. Onward!
Looked like a great day to do chores. Also, very cool that you’re so self supporting that your trips for necessities has been cut way down. Thanks for sharing
Im glad u are ok. I always look for Holiday Inn Express, if I have a choice. Wow it sounds like u had an old room with a crummy bed. Sounds like Jacksonville HI is not a place to stop. But no problem, i try & drive right thru that busy city. Ive never had a bad sleep at an Express. Again I'm so glad you & your family are ok.
@@georgiacorey954 Yeah I was surprised because the hotel actually looks new, is very clean and very pretty. Didn’t *look* like a crappy old room, and I don’t know how the other rooms were so I won’t say the whole hotel was like that. But room 502 in Jacksonville on Chaffee was not made for comfort in mind!
Perhaps try a sheepskin on your seat? We use them for bed bound patients to avoid bedsores. I am so sorry these cyclones disrupted your lives but I'm actually very interested in your experience because my main reason for wanting to convert my vehicle is to have a bugout vehicle.
There is an inflatable bed called Luno that is made to go across the front seats that you can check out. You could also take a shower tent for the toilet if you have to leave without a hotel reservation and may be gone a few days.
@@Tina-zz2lw I plan to buy one of those shower tents in the next couple of days. It’s been on my to-do list for a little while. I’ll check out that front seat bed.. thank you!
Oh my goodness Dawn!! Over 200 for a hotel!! Yikes! They probably jacked up the prices during the storm. Idono!! You're safe though!! 😊 "Leave her wild" has a video on installing an extra seat. Are you sleeping in your van while parked at home? I used to when I still had my apartment. It was exciting! 😊
@@CindyCaVANas Oh I’ll check that out, thanks! No, my property is too sloped, I could never sleep in van at home even with leveling blocks! Thanks for watching.
I would have put a couple of hand towels down in the shower to avoid slipping. It works.
@@deedeeotero4475 Yes! I actually thought of that for a moment then for some reason I didn’t think it would work. I should have tried it! 😊
We should all have compassion no matter what. NO ONE knows anyone's else's story no matter what

@@kateloveland2140 Oh I believed him. I just didn’t see why it’s against fire code when the room is so huge. No matter, it all worked out!
It’s all good information for you and us.🙋🏼♀️
I am glad you were able to get out of there and were safe. Definitely a good test for the van for what it’s worth.

I like the curtain! Glad you and yours are ok. Hopefully storm season will pass without any more 🤞 🙏

I have one of those orthopedic cushions in my drivers seat that wheelchair bound individuals use.
No bugs in your hotel room ??? Did they give your money back ?
👍 Rock on 🙂.
@@mythicalnomadadventure969 LOL. I’m always just paranoid about that, especially in Florida. I always check the room before I bring anything in. 😄
