I'm always struck by how spectacularly well composed your shots are, the colours and choices for camera placement are always made like you have a Director of Photography hat on where ever you go. Are you always filming just in case you see something that would make a great segment? How often do you find yourself thinking "I wish I'd have caught that shot or captured that view" as you're just going about your day? As always, these videos are worth every moment spent watching them. Splendid work.
Thanks for the kind words! I find myself thinking that all the time! I try to have some days off where I don’t film but I guess it’s always in the back of my mind. 😆
@@SolLife_ It seems like not having to frame a narrator in every shot, you're freed up to compose the shots in the most interesting way. And your composition isn't cliched. I like the way you frame business entrances and doorways square and centered, but most everything else has a more ikebane feel.
I’ve never clicked so fast on a video! I saw Jimbocho in the title and knew I had to watch! I’ve read about this place in ‘Days at the Morisaki Bookshop’ by Satoshi Yagisawa last year and it’s one of my favourite reads, it’s nice to see the place on video. Also love the aesthetics of this vlog, its so calming!
Some of those bookstores are a paradise for Manga/Anime lovers. Very interesting. Never heard of these areas before and thanks for introducing them. And as usual the cafe's and the small shops all look awesome.
Jimbocho is absolutely a delightful neighborhood that I visit whenever I have a chance in Tokyo. The no-speaking cafe is now on my list 😀The jazzy music blends well with the slow filming 👍 Keep up the great work!
Oh my goodness I'd go broke with all those adorable miniatures. Impossible to choose just one. And for what? They serve no purpose except to tickle the heart ... and clutter lol. So many cute things and yummy foods. Loved this tour, one of your best. Great editing. So many reasons to love Japan. Thank you.
Hi Sol! Can you make a video to share some insights on finding remote jobs (for foreigner) in Japan? Or just any kind of job in general for foreigners. The process you went through, and all the things you needed to prepare. It would be super helpful for some of us ❤
I enjoyed this trip with you , thank you so much 🩷 . The last cafe was such a dream place to visit 🫠✊🏼 I’m so curious about the story and theme of other tables.
this video has really been super relaxing. came from a livestream so to just sit down after and watch something with less energy but fully vibrant in it's own way is a blessing. she's great!
Every corner of Tokyo is magnificent... But in this video Aruza Dokushoukan hits the most! ❤ greetings from Indonesia. Thanks for making this video, Sol.
Absolutely amazing shots of Tokyo.💛💛💛 . Indeed it reminded me of Suzume an absolute gem. Retro shops and Anime in Nakano on my bucket list. Thank you for an amazing episode 💛🩵♥️
I've just read the two Morisaki bookshop books by Yagisawa Satoshi that mainly take place in Jimbocho, so I'm glad TH-cam recommended this video so I can get a feel of the neighbourhood.
I read about Jimbocho in Days at Morisaki Bookshop, and since then, visiting Japan has been on my bucket list. And I love how aesthetic and calming your vlogs are ❤
Hi I am from 🇯🇵⛩. Very calming atmosphere the video that shows a love of books👓! 👍 It was nice to see the recent ofJimbocho📕filmed in a lovely way. 🍀Have a good January.
Very cozy video thank you for showing so many awesome places with their addresses! It is a fun coincidence I am just reading one of Murakamis early works!
Everything’s feels nostalgic and even the gachapon looks a bit retro than the ones that I’ve seen on Akihabara. The moment at 29.29 when the money keeps coming out, I find it hilarious.. hahaha thank you for allowing us through your retro journey on Tokyo!
As a resident of one of these neighborhood, I BEG people who watch this kind of video and plan to come, to do it with respect, refraining from taking pictures everywhere and disturbing others. The essence of what you like about these places is that they are real; cafes, shops and streets where people have their lives. Please don't make this a tourist viral thing; contribute to keep it genuine✌🏻 Congrats for the video though, it's really beautiful ❤️
Those places like you've visited always trigger my nostalgia for the past I didn't have.(I'm not even Japanese. Ahaha.) I get the same thing when I watch any Japanese TV or movie clips from 80s-2000s. It's the weirdest thing. Love those places you've shown us.
Such a beautiful video, filled with calming and pleasant vibes. I absolutely fell in love with those bookstores! I started reading Murakami last year with 1Q84 and couldn’t put it down. I hope to return to Tokyo someday to explore those charming neighborhoods in person. Greetings from Spain! 🤗🤗
I’m from Perth Australia. OMG you just went to all the spots I have tagged for my next trip. Sadly have to wait until November. You found a few extra for me too! Koenji looks much quieter the Shimo Kitazawa. Love the retro vibe. Love watching your videos ❤ 😊
Wow SolLife filmed my suggestion Jimbocho I feel so special 🥰 My husband visited Jimbocho when he was in Japan and didn’t take pictures or anything so I wanted to see what it looked like 😂 and there aren’t many videos on TH-cam about Jimbocho so I was curious. Thank you SolLife for listening to your viewers ❤
Wow! BookStore, I love such places with books. I know Murakami's novels.😊 Now I read novels by Korean authors, many are published in my country. The shops you showed us are impressive, can spend a lot of money there... 😀 Thank you for sharing your journey with us. 💛☀️
I dreamed of living on a street of bookstores and coffee shops! I saw you reading a kindle, I recommend a book called 'days at the morisaki bookshop"! lt sets at Jimbocho too! This video just reminds me of that heartwarming book!
This is so cool - If I ever make it over to Japan (or Korea for that matter), I'm going to find woodworking bookstores and shops for tools, then go for fabric. Both countries have the best in both those things. The bookstores of Jimbocho look cool too. I covet all those Holbein water colors.
For anyone who loved the Jimbocho area vibes and enjoys slice-of-life novels, there's a lovely one by Satoshi Yagisawa that's placed in the neighbourhood, called "Days at the Morisaki Bookshop" :)
Hi Sol, me and my fiance love your videos so much. We're going to Japan in October and you'd given us so many new and unique ideas to do while we're in Tokyo.
Koenji is my favorite place in Tokyo! It’s a lot like Shimokitazawa but way more local. Which makes it much better price and easier to find unique pieces.
Hi I realy enjoy your vlogs very much 🎉 I follow you quite a time now and just wanna say thank you for your work! ❤ If you like Jinbocho I would recommend to read Yagisawa Satoshi.
