This is a very uniquely structured piece, but he pulls it off. The only other symphony like this I know of is Shostakovich 6.
There is also a further revision of this symphony, made in 2003, with another slow movement in between.
I know, I also like that version a lot. But I haven't been able to find the score yet :(
