Thanks for the encouragement! Definitely took some changes to get here. Great starting point . I saw your review on the Tisas and that made me think that I wanted to check it out, maybe for a lower entry fee starting point. I'll likely get one some day. Usually prefer bull barrels but I recently got a Wilson combat EDC X9 Experior bushing barrel that is phenomenal, I'm thinking that Tisas would be a great project to learn about the bushing side of things.
I have Atlas, Nighthawk, Hayes, Staccato, and so on. These Turkish pistols are not designed to compete with high-end guns. I would check and see if the internals are forged or MIM. If MIM, change to EGW internals. The EGW will stay in spec forever. Tisas (MAC) uses forged internals, a nod to the quality Americans demand. You could always stipple the grip and make it better. It is difficult to go from a 1 or 2-lb competition trigger to a 6-pound trigger. I bought the Girsan Negotiator and changed a few things, and it is solid. It's nice to shoot and fun. These are production guns built in the US by a Turkish company (Tisas). My Hayes is a $5300 2011 handbuilt and fits with the best materials available. You can tell the differences in every way, and I can do a 1MOA group at 10 yards. I would recommend these "2011s" to anyone because the price allows anyone to own one.

I think the stock trigger was 4 and 1/2 or 5 lb on mine, I hear they vary widely. A quick adjustment took it down near 3lb. Hammer and sear engagement and angles are great, it's got a firm wall and a crisp break. It's a nice aluminum trigger unlike my staccato's plastic trigger though LOL . It's definitely not meant to compete with those guns you're talking about LOL, you can pick one of these up for less than $900 now. I think it's a great gateway Gun to get people into 2011s. I personally have never tried any stippling myself, The villain grip from MJD I have on this is just about perfect to me. I don't really like nonmetal grips, but it's a combination of Kevlar carbon fiber and nylon so it feels a little bit more like g10 than plastic. When the gun arrived, everything was tight over a course of 1300 rounds I think is when that barrel started loosening up a little bit. Since then I have not really examined the lugs or the link, another user pointed out that maybe an oversized slide stop would help. Right now it doesn't affect the accuracy one bit so it's not really an issue, if it gets worse I'll probably dive in and just fix it myself. I doubt they're going to want a warranty a gun that I've done so much work on. I don't really care about the warranty on these things unless it's something serious like a slide breaking in half or some silly shit like that. I think if it comes down to it and I ever had to replace the barrel I would just do it myself and grab a threaded barrel.
I didn't even think of that. The current slide stop does come out very easy. I'll keep that in mind and try it. Thanks. I haven't even examined it closely since I noticed it.
@@MoneyShot_CMFitting a bit larger slide stop pin will actually aid in accuracy. The browning action get about 60% accuracy from this fit. Then the bull barrel accounts for the rest. Yeah I love the way it looks. It's shooting so good right now too. I just came back from the range testing and even lighter recoil spring lol. Haven't looked at the footage yet.
Probably correct. I didn't mind that hard spring at all honestly I shot it for quite a long time and it made the gun super soft. Had no issues with it, I just began experimenting and eventually settled in on the 11 lb for overall feel.

The plate came with the gun. They're supposed to be offering more plates this summer. When you put an RMR on a 1911/2011 slide you always need a plate because the slide is so skinny. There's a few manufacturers who have gotten around this by widening the slide in their manufacturing process in the area where the screws go, like stealth arms and I forget the others. My dwx has a slide that's wide enough for a direct mount RMR cut just to give you an example and it's close to a 2011
RE: the Prodigy "If you could get it for the same price as this, it might be a different story." Add up the parts. $1000 gun, $380 grip + springs. Assuming you're going with the same optic, you are paying less for the Prodigy.
Actually These go for 840 right now, grip was 318. Springs 8 bucks. That's 1166. Cheapest I've seen The prodigy is 1,200 bucks right now. But that is close enough. I would never take the prodigy with a stock grip over this gun with an MJD villain. The villain is just too good. Now let's say that this was the same exact price with no upgrades at all I would probably take The prodigy because it's american-made. When I bought mine it was $1099 And The prodigies were running 1300. I didn't want a prodigy at the time because I'd shot a couple of them and they were not very good. But those have been modified by other people and they weren't stock. I ended up shooting a stock one later and it was pretty good.
I just picked up my mac 9 for $867 with taxes and shipping and all. It has the new optic plate with higher iron sights in rear, so you can co-witness. I've noticed its nearly impossible to reassemble the slide to the frame on mine as the (extractor spring plunger thing? im not sure what it is called) blocks the slide stop from seating in position unless you can hold the plunger in with a small piece of metal and slide it in. My slide also catches pretty solidly trying to slide it back, I guess its catching on extractor? This is my first 1911 so I am trying to figure it all out.
1st , congrats on the purchase, that's a great price! When I wake up more I'll reread this and try to understand it better, you have some terminology mixed up, it's hard to picture. If I can help/advise you I will.
So now I'm a little bit more awake, and after reading what you wrote I think I know what you're talking about. If you're talking about the plunger tube that has a little metal piece that interacts with the slide stop as well as another little another piece into that interacts with the safety, those can be kind of stiff. If a slide stop a very tight fit stacked on top of that strong spring it can be a little hard to push in. Are you pinning the slide back where you have no spring tension so you can move the slide into the proper area easily? On the second part I hope it's not the extractor that's causing your slide to be sluggish or get stuck, a lot of times It's the disconnector. It's common on some production guns. Have you shot the gun yet? If it is the disconnector this will break in over time you can also break it in by just racking the slide back and forth throwing some oil on it. As far as the slide stop issue that will break in over time too. Now the slide is getting hung up on the ejector, that could break itself in as well but I think that's less likely of an issue. Something like that you may need to get looked at
I've been watching one on gun broker, last night it was at 800 which is a discount. The grip is really good, if you ever get one look for the discount code.
Got to get started and learn somewhere lol. I started out on a trigger for the dwx, and just grew from there. Research and everything learning everything I could. Just got to be safe with it.
@@MoneyShot_CM ya my first real attempt on my 1911. I got it down to 3 pounds. Zero take up,BUT no audible reset. So went back in messed with it until I got 3.5 pounds. Almost no take up and a real reset again. So was fun to learn
The light isn't changing how the slide behaves. It has some effect on muzzle rise, and return to zero in conjunction with the spring. I've shot it with every spring from 10 up to stock, with and without the light. Since I made this video I think I settled on the 11-pounder and I have been running it with no light mostly. I think it's all personal preference honestly. It comes down to how strong your grip is and what your preference is. Some prefer the softest shooting others the perfect return to zero
It's light years better than the stock grip, it's one of my favorite grips and I usually don't like anything that's not metal lol. Size wise I want to say they're pretty similar when it comes to how I reach the trigger. It definitely feels a lot better though. The stock grip is horrible. There is a discount code out there for these to make them cheaper. I've also heard that some people are using the prodigy grips because you can them relatively cheap when they're in stock.
@@Soucka74 MJD Villain grip. Sear pin had nothing to do with the grip, do you mean the main spring pin? Can you elaborate on what you mean. If there was no sear pin there would be no sear and there would be no disconnector in the gun or at least held in place

Thanks, great info. I've heard that the guns are now being shipped with different sites or something like that fixing the issue. No word on if they will be shipping parts to people who already bought the gun..
I'm at 3.5 lbs on the trigger and I am very happy with that. Love the break. Issue at this moment, I ran 115g Monarch and few rounds were ejecting towards me. How to work on that issue? Suggestions?
Watch some extractor tuning videos, they are pretty easy to tune. You will have to remove the firing pin stop and the firing pin and then the extractor and give it a little bend to change the tension. If you watch one of the videos it will tell you which way you need to go after testing it.
The felt recoil is noticeably more than the stock spring, so there is that sacrifice. I think it's fine. Not too bad. I guess it comes down to what you feel is more important, felt recoil or return to zero and control. As for the shock buffs, I have some laying around but I've never used one so I don't know what kind of impact they're going to have. I'm going to do some testing on them coming up. I just dropped another video showing the results from the 11 lb test. I think it will finish processing in the next hour or two. I'll get that shock buff stuff tested as soon as possible I was just as interested as you. I also got some 17 lb hammer springs coming in then I'm going to test across a few guns.
@@Soucka74 I have some of those but I have not installed them on any of the guns yet. I don't know what I'm waiting for I don't know what I'm waiting for lol. I had plans to use them on a few guns.
@@MoneyShot_CMBe careful with going to light on the main/hammer spring. That can cause light strikes. For most duty applications I don't recommend going below 19 lbs.
@@Soucka74 I picked up a few 17 lb main springs, but I haven't had the balls to put them in and anything yet lol. So far no need. Sometimes I shoot ammo from overseas and it has hard primers so I don't want light strikes. I think I'll be it okay with just swapping The recoil springs, still debating on what I like best. And this one I'm running at 11:00 right now, but in my custom build I'm running at 12, I can't say that I didn't like the 13s either.
Do your included mags drop-free when in slide lock? Mine will not, fully loaded or empty they do not drop free and must be manually stripped. If not in slide lock, mags work fine. SDS missed this when I returned initially for disconnector problem. SDS has service has been relatively responsive when I request service, but really question armorer/tech staff and their attention to detailed service request and work. I am hopeful this will corrected, but the DS9 has been at SDS more than in my hands.
No issues with mine, they drop fine. I know you're pain, had a Bul Armory with issues that required repeat trips, that sucks. At least it's something minor, that's the bright side. If there is one.
@@MoneyShot_CM Ha! They should be sending me replacement mags, but I am reasonably confident, the issue is not the mags. Gotta read and follow the SOP script.

You say the angles are perfect. How are you getting that? From the pull only? While lot of people on the internet giving their opinions that have no basic mechanical understanding let alone true gun smithing experience. 4.25” 2011’s should have a 13# spring for standard ammo. I would still rather start with a Prodigy which can be had for about 200 bucks more.
I've seen some prodigies for 1200, but I have started seeing these for like $850. Both are fine. And when I'm talking about the hammer and sear angles I got that from taking it apart and examining them under magnification. I checked everything out when the trigger pull was super heavy when I got it, it was super heavy because of the sear springs. I just did a quick look at the angles they cut and there was nothing wrong with them. The thing is producing a really great firm wall that I wish I had on all of my other guns. I'm going to buy a long sear from egw and maybe a jig and see if I can recreate that super firm wall. Oh and I'm not a gunsmith, I don't know everything but I know enough to build one of these from the ground up. And I'm learning more everyday. I'm able to fit all the parts and usually make The triggers feel how I'd like them to.
I have three holsters I'm using for this. Werkz M6 2011 holster for TLR1 HL and the Mckinatec MTA for the tlr1 hl, I have videos on my channel for those too if you want to see them up close. I also bought a tier one MSP for the tlr1 HL as well. I'm still testing that one. My favorite one so far is the Werkz m6, which is shown briefly in this video. There's an in-depth look at that one on my channel.
No clue, I have heard there's someone out there running a nine lb LoL. I'm probably going to stop at 11lb and I might swap out the hammer spring to 17 lb.
@@avery6600 Yes the slide will be lighter, but The felt recoil will be more. A lot of people from what I've learned used shock buffs on the guy rod. The heavier the spring The Less felt recoil, but the slide snaps back into place harder making the gun dip. With a lower weight recoil spring the return to zero is better and that's what people are chasing. But it also has to do with your ammunition and your grip strength.
Pretty good review. I don’t think I’d spend $300+/- on a new grip for that weapon. At that point, your total cost is approaching $1300 or so total cost of that weapon. I’d probably spend a little more on initial cost for a little better weapon if you’re doing all that. 😐
Thanks! The grip is phenomenal. I got it on a discount code for around 300 bucks. The one That was on there was dog shit LOL. It was quite embarrassing. I usually put new grips on every gun I buy. Most are metal and more than this one. This one feels like g10 and not like plastic is why I like it. I can't think of another gun for $1,300 that's better than this one, maybe The prodigy, but I like this one just as much as that one . What would you choose? Oh if you can catch the prodigy grips in stock I think they cost like 40 bucks and a lot of people use those. Those are ok I think. I think buying cheap gun and spending a little bit of extra coin on it to make it better is a fun thing to do. Quite frankly even the expensive guns I buy need stuff done to them.

When I bought mine it was $1099 And The prodigies were running 1300. I didn't want a prodigy at the time because I'd shot a couple of them and they were not very good. But those have been modified by other people and they weren't stock. I ended up shooting a stock one later and it was pretty good.
Prodigy has MIM partsMac9 doesn’t
Something like that you may need to get looked at
I like that grip I can’t speak on the trigger I haven’t been able to get my hands on one
I've been watching one on gun broker, last night it was at 800 which is a discount. The grip is really good, if you ever get one look for the discount code.
@@MoneyShot_CMWhat is name and link of the grip module you used and the discount code sir, tia
I saw the last video that was great. Since then i seen duty tune dvd..now i want one and if it has any issues arise i feel ready 🤣.
@@mgmmaze yeah I hate when I got an anemic reset, I need a good reset. I do the same thing.
hey brother i know it's been 5 months but did the Villain grip from MJD solutions take any fitting to install it on the mac ds 9?
Zero fitting
Just curious how can you compare 12lb and 13lb kinetics when you're without TLR with 12lb?
The light isn't changing how the slide behaves. It has some effect on muzzle rise, and return to zero in conjunction with the spring.
I've shot it with every spring from 10 up to stock, with and without the light. Since I made this video I think I settled on the 11-pounder and I have been running it with no light mostly. I think it's all personal preference honestly. It comes down to how strong your grip is and what your preference is. Some prefer the softest shooting others the perfect return to zero
Mate, half way through the video i saw your "no step on snek" patch and lost my shit laughing.
🤣 I love that thing, when I saw it I had to have it. It's great
Is the old grip a lot bulkier than the new grip? I feel like the original grip is too bulky and slippery.
What's name of the grip module and do you have a link? When you changed yours out, did it have a sear pin, mine didn't for some reason.??!!
@@Soucka74 MJD Villain grip.
Sear pin had nothing to do with the grip, do you mean the main spring pin? Can you elaborate on what you mean. If there was no sear pin there would be no sear and there would be no disconnector in the gun or at least held in place
@@Soucka74 mjd.solutions/shop
If you look up a review of that grip by tactical bearded dad in his comment section or the title of the video there's a discount code.
FYI. Zulisky Oak Plus RMR red dot cowitnesses pretty well. Wish there was a way to share the pic on the comments section. I can send you pic I took so you can see.
Thanks, great info. I've heard that the guns are now being shipped with different sites or something like that fixing the issue. No word on if they will be shipping parts to people who already bought the gun..
When changing the springs, do you need to purchase specific commander (4.25”) springs or are they all standard for 1911/2011? Thanks.
Just Commander size for the commander guns. I just look for quality springs
Do you feel a shock buff is needed with the 12 lb spring?
I always use a Wilson Shok buff. It just aids in making your frame last longer.
Is that, "DON'T STEP ON SNEK" sticker from Timcast?
Lol I have no idea where it's from, I saw it and just had to have it. It's a patch LOL.
Super light trigger wow
With a little tuning it's fantastic.
Thanks
No problem
Did you have any problems with the optic plate and the optic that you chose. Meaning any mounting problems
None. It did come loose one time, but I think that was my fault. I'm going to watch it to see if it comes loose again.
How do I fix the fiber optic? It keeps sliding out.

@@MoneyShot_CM I could correct the disconnector easily myself. The mag issue less so. Never had to make corrections on any other handgun, so...
@@grover138 I would like to have had a chance to look at the problem with the mags. Not saying I wanted problems with my gun LOL.
@@MoneyShot_CM Ha! They should be sending me replacement mags, but I am reasonably confident, the issue is not the mags. Gotta read and follow the SOP script.
@@grover138 Yeah my bet wouldn't be on the mags. I never looked at an issue like that, but I would like to.
What grip is that??
MJD Solutions Villain grip, it's great.
I saw 2 optics on their site. Which one is the one that you mounted?
This is the Tacticon V4 Predator, they list it at 300 but its 50% off right now, so 150? There is always some sale they never charge list. The black one looks to be out of stock, only the bronze one is available. They are available on amazon now but are 199.00. Link is below. @@MoneyShot_CMI'm still waiting on a new plate for Holosun EPS. I hope they enter market soon.
@@Soucka74 Yes hopefully, I haven't heard anything yet, last thing I heard was supposedly this summer. Hopefully another company picks up the slack and gets it done first
You say the angles are perfect.
The old lady....😂
What holster did you get?
I have three holsters I'm using for this. Werkz M6 2011 holster for TLR1 HL and the Mckinatec MTA for the tlr1 hl, I have videos on my channel for those too if you want to see them up close. I also bought a tier one MSP for the tlr1 HL as well. I'm still testing that one. My favorite one so far is the Werkz m6, which is shown briefly in this video. There's an in-depth look at that one on my channel.
Will a 8# spring work?
No clue, I have heard there's someone out there running a nine lb LoL. I'm probably going to stop at 11lb and I might swap out the hammer spring to 17 lb.
@@MoneyShot_CMI thought the lighter the spring the smoother the slide and lighter felt recoil?
@@avery6600 Yes the slide will be lighter, but The felt recoil will be more. A lot of people from what I've learned used shock buffs on the guy rod. The heavier the spring The Less felt recoil, but the slide snaps back into place harder making the gun dip. With a lower weight recoil spring the return to zero is better and that's what people are chasing. But it also has to do with your ammunition and your grip strength.
Hi do u want to sell that grip? Thank for the video
I don't want to sell it yet, I'll have to think about that. Thanks
This is a good weapon. And you can do all that and still cheaper than other 2011s
@buddy9577 yeah this one is very satisfying knowing how little I paid and how it shoots
How did you get that optic plate off? Hahaha
A little tappy tappy with my punch set hammer with the plastic end. You could also wrap some cloth around it and use a pair of pliers and leverage, makes the cloth is fucking to where you're not going to Mar the site up
@MoneyShot_CM just the two screws right? Nothing else in there that I have to remove before tappy tappy? Ha
Thanks for the help. 👍🏼
