- We took advantage of our live Monday night video that we do on Facebook and recorded it for TH-cam.
In this video, we block dyed a piece of veg tan which is embossed to look like alligator. While we waited for that to dry in between steps, we took advantage of the down time and made a simple leather bracelet which has been very popular with everyone who has seen it.
You can find the embossed veg tan leather at this link:

Thank you for putting this on the tubes. I really try to stay off Facebook.
OLD LEATHER SMITH here, Great Job, Very nice Aaron, AS ALWAYS, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
Cool bracelet and I really want to try the block dyeing. Now I need to purchase more dye colors to match my imagination.
Another great video!!! Will be making a knot bracelet. ✌
I learned so much from this video. Thank you Much Aaron!
Thank you for the replies . I love what y’all have done for the people who love to do leather work but ant that good .
We all had to get better at some point. I honestly look at my earlier work and am amazed I didn't quit.
Thanks for the technic, I am going to cut a bracelet from my alligator embossed hide and try a little dyeing myself.
Can you cut an alligator pattern with a swivel knife?
When will you make a video on assembling the bar frame wallet/clutch in the picture?
The dying technique and the bracelet were both cool!
Thanks! Always good stuff from MLS!
It's the next one. The boxes went out earlier this week and they'll all be delivered soon.
@@makersleathersupply1220 Was the leather in the mystery box supposed to be embossed like the one in this video? I was looking forward to trying the block dyeing technique, but my piece of veg tan is plain.
@@johnh5008 unfortunately we did not have enough to put in all 168 boxes so we stuck with toolable veg tan for this one.
teaching and comedy, I approve
This is a super cool stain job and technique. Would it work, using pro resist, to do the darker color in the cracks and light on top? For example, coat the whole thing red, then apply pro resist using the cloth on a block technique, then coat in black and quickly wipe excess off the top?
For that you use an antique to do the darker color. th-cam.com/video/U7I7aYuUyoM/w-d-xo.html

@@christoherbarnes9276 come see us sometime and we'll sit down and make stuff!
You have a Goat! Awwwww! I live on a friends goat farm…have you figured out that goats are herd animals and needs a companion? Two goats are better, than three, four, twelve…🥰
Hello sir. You do great work and I enjoy learning from you. Could you tell me what hardware you use on the showcase clutch in this video?
I appreciate your help.
We are actually in the middle of a video on making this clutch. I don't know the proper name but we can it a bar frame and as soon as the video is posted we will have them on our website.
@@makersleathersupply1220 great! Thank you for the quick reply.
What is in the coffee?
Cream and love. Ha ha ua
Can a person emboss there leather there self ?
There are ways. I've seen where folks used a grainy looking "wood" vinyl floor and sndwiched it against the leather in a press to make a wood grain embossing
But that don’t give it the gator look does it?
@@joelstephens705 I wouldn't know how to get good deep gator embossing.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
thanks too bad the soundtrack is bad!... a lot of background noise.
I have a microphone that helps with that but failed to use it.
