      Jack Daniel’s chooses not to call itself bourbon, but the historic brand applies for federal label approval under the class of bourbon and Tennessee whiskey is listed as straight bourbon in the North American Free Trade Agreement. And if you actually pull a high ranking Jack member aside and really push them on it, they will confirm that “technically” it is a bourbon.

    • @BeerBourbonandGames
      @BeerBourbonandGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Technically" yes it's a bourbon. They chose to fight for the right to call it Tennessee Whiskey which is odd but hey their choice. Some people like to state it's not a bourbon based on the filtering process.

    • @BeerBourbonandGames
      @BeerBourbonandGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would honestly recommend starting with the lowest proof possible which is 80 and look for a nice 4 year aged. This will give you a baseline of what the traditional notes are. From there it will only get more complex. Hopefully that makes sense.
      Jim Beam white is an excellent base line that is very affordable.

      WT 101 only. This stuff unlocks parts of me that people seem to enjoy a lot. And I don’t need more than 2 shots. I know all alcohol is alcohol but idk. Bourbon is diff to me. Cause I don’t really like any other kinds of drinks.
      Last time I had 3 I jumped on my bike then whacked my funny bone on a pole going Mach Jesus. Made it home and dropped her 4 times. Crushed my pinky and was launched into other parked cars before I could get the kickstand down in time.
      Walked around the parking lot cussing Joe Biden, then destroyed most of the glass in my condo out of anger. Went back outside, Called someone a fuck face and took his phone, called a ride, (gave it back) got to the ER and the guard wouldn’t push the handicap button for me…after gesturing with no luck I just yanked it open and screamed in pain…He got mad and we started screaming at eachother…2 shots is good. My elbow and forearm was…well they stopped counting at 5 fractures.
      Also have generations of a wildness, most of my family was lynched in various saloons and jail cells by the law and feuding families. We were slandered tho 150 years ago. My grandmother buried my 30y old grandfather while she was 8m pregnant dragged him home with 21 gun shots. He had a war and a massacre named after him, so theirs a false grave and a secret one. Intense story. You’d prob hate it.
      Best of wishes.

    Thanks for the information on bourbon. can it expire or go bad? I remember growing up, my dad used to recieve a bottle of liquor every Christmas from the people he work with. Because he does not drink, these bottles become collector’s item in our house. We had “unopened” bottles of Jack Daniel, Evan Williams, Crown Royal, Remy, Volka etc. and kept them for at least 25 -30 years before we lost them all to the flood. I often wonder how much those bottles would have worth if the flood did not happen and we keep them for 40 years. Would it have gone bad despite it is unopened?

    Three questions! 1. How many years are usually aged this bourbons? 2. Why the barrels are used just 1 time? 3. Is bulleit good bourbon? I recently saw bulleit rye so according to your explanation is a rye wiskey but not a bourbon 🤯

    • @BeerBourbonandGames
      @BeerBourbonandGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      1- Bourbons can range quite a bit in age but the minimum is 2. Most of the consumer lever stuff that people gravitate towards are the 4 to 8 year old with an occasional 10 to 12 year here and there. The longer they age the more the flavor and character develop. I typically recommend people get 8 year Bourbons it's a good thing to shoot for.
      2- The barrels only being used once is part of the bourbon laws that were written. They can reuse them in other ways and honestly used barrels is a huge industry right now. However for bourbon it has to be new.
      3 - Correct the Bulleit Rye would be a whiskey. They do also have many Bourbon offerings as well.
