Hi , I am an inpatient physiotherapist and practise suctioning with the patients who required it . One suction time should not be more than 8-12 secs and u can do 2-3 reps as per patient requirement . Also keep checking vitals (mainly spo2) and provide enough o2 in between the suction reps to oxygenate lungs if not connected to the ventilator.

Its better not to clear suction catheter with saline each time we go in. It might contaminate the catheter. overall good attempt.
