The whole Mass Effect 2 soundtrack is generally well done, but I love this piece in particular. The soft movement that plays during the cinematic scenes is beautiful, and the fast paced part that plays during combat is epic.
Samara is so severely underrated! For me she is the best ME-Woman ever. Mystical, powerful, determined, cold but yet with a soft spot. She is a truly tragic character with a lot of depth. And she is the star far away that can never be reached (romantically) : (
92Beyo when you read the background notes the Shadow Broker has on her you can really see the pain, she's just realized that she's one of the rare asari that can only spawn potential serial killers because of the defect.
I've never really liked Samara, personally. I think they didn't give her quite enough attention in either game. Also, the whole code thing is a bit strange. She eventually just seems like she's blindly following orders.
Her aligment is Lawful Neutral, she is stick to her Justicar Code and must obey it at any cost, she preserves the law but she is not a zealot. Romantically, she is too old and she even admited that (I think)
8:10 I remember when i crouched behined the box and listen to that change of baseline octave. I was like.. Fuck me Miranda, could you just stop shooting for a moment? I'm trying to listen to that great song! You cant even hit anybody!
+Belfor09 There were quite a few times where I went into the menu just to listen to the music more. Here (especially the gunship battle, which unfortunately isn't on the soundtrack but you can find it online) and the Horizon spaceport battle (same as gunship... don't know why they left out such good stuff) most notably, but also for a lot of the suicide mission.
Samara never seemed to me like she was fully wound up in the game as some of the other characters were - Miranda, Grunt, Tali. For her it was another amazing adventure in a centuries long life of amazing adventures. Hey, how about the Samara spin-off?
I'd be down for a spin-off where we either play as her on one of her adventures (thinking about the Spectre fight, specifically) or where she joins our character on an adventure and she's featured prominently (maybe as our moral compass and potentially a final boss).
This track is superb. I love the middle-eastern vibe to it. I was very impressed when I heard this while completing her recruitment mission. Thanks for uploading.
The Mass Effect series has a lot of awesome music, but it's this piece that I keep coming back to (also the soundtrack for Overlord and the Suicide Mission theme).
I know it fits the themes of Samara and the rest of this track, but my god that final combat music was wasted on such a trivial part of the game: fighting some mercenaries.
Robert Harris I don't expect to see Samara again unless there's some twist about it in the writing. In terms of straight chronology, she indeed doesn't have 'much' longer (technically centuries longer, but she's well matured by now and more likely to be seen as a matriarch than matron).
One of the things I like about ME or Bioware for that matter is that it reflects earth's cultures very well in these aliens. Both western and eastern. also we see that not every villain is evil, every member of a "race" or ideal is different and mistakes made by quarians, geth and krogan can be forgiven. Thats a very strong and meaningful message right there.
After 11 year since this game came out, this track still inspires me to think about SF(Science Fiction and Space Fantasy xD) stories. Even inspired me to think about my own SF universe. Jack Wall, Sam Hulick, David Kates and Jimmy Hinson are geniuses. And this is one of the best space opera soundtracks I've ever listened too! Yea... 11 years later it is still is one of the best.

@HotFuzz456 I say in theory, since we've never seen only space battles against collectors and a reaper but not with other mass effect-races. Codex-told some of the standard line ups against ship-to-ship combat, but mostly energy weapons played a small role.
Samara's often overlooked. I think she's one of the best characters - then again, you could take almost any character out of ME2 and put him or her in another game and that character would be the best one.
i like how it gets fast, slow, a big more faster, and then very fast. like the battle gets more intense, but then they get tired and try to figure out a different strategy, and then go at it again.

while i agree with everything... there was one thing you said that really got me irritated. While its true Samara's Children are all Ardat-Yakshi, she only had to kill one: Morinth. Her other daughters Falere and Rila were on Lesuss, and resided in the Ardat-Yakshi Monastery.
This is probably my favorite character theme. For some reason it just seems to fit my vision of what Samara and a justicar should be like, even though the game isn't even out yet. Excellent theme.
There is a bit of that...Shohreh Aghdashloo, a well known Iranian actress, plays Shala'Raan vas Tonbay, the female admiral whom you first talk to...as a side note, I wonder if they were at all influenced by Visas Marr, the KotoR II character created by Obsidian.
@HotFuzz456 Have to say, Mass effect's space battle in theory is different from all the scifi-series i've seen. Especially that part about heavy ships main guns been useless from close range, and fighters having no real way to destroy a cruiser, but wear their mass effect fields down and let other ship finish the job. Of course reapers and collectors had main guns that could be used at close range, but that was to show how advanced they truly were.
@66ALDARIS Somebody else noticed! I hope the arabic sounding bits of this music become the musical cues for the Asari civilisation when we visit Thessia in Mass Effect 3 :D
The thing is, by the time Morinth fled to avoid a life in the monastery, she had unashamedly killed several people. The addiction to killing is cumulative, only truly manifesting after the first few kills. She drove Samara to become a justicar out of desperation, and killed hundreds more for pleasure. Samara does realise that her code is outdated, but she had to stop Morinth from killing anyone else. She surrendered everything for the code, and disobeying it would mean it was all for nothing.

i dont deny that thanix cannon wouldnt destroy galactica
,but it has lots of vipers+raptors capable to be
eqipped missiles/nukes...just saying...if i´
could choose between galactica or SR-2
galactica would be my choise...
@TheIronMarine He won't. Ardat'Yakshi is made only in "pureblood" relationship (Asari and Asari). And last time I checked Nothization is Human.
