Man, i remember when everything was double or triple corks. Now its wild flat spins with deep grabs. Shows the way the sport evolves and shifts
Corks are better imo. Just spinning is meh
I remember when a 1080 was the biggest trick only a few guys could do. Now it's just unreal.
I miss those days. It’s incredible what they can do now no question. But sadly it just seems like it’s about who can do the most spins vs creativity, style, etc
yeah now they are practically doing twice the amount of spins. it's nuts. meanwhile i'm at a shitty resort trying to get these 360s down lol

@brenthogan7179 Yeah I can barely frontside 360. I've tried everything but just can't seem to get it. Oddly, I can't even get close trying to do a backside 3, and people swear that's easier.

I remember about 5 yrs ago when Yuki Kadono attemped 1980 and didnt quite make it. Now look at this... humans are amazing
I met Yuki in Jackson Hole. He's the man! And he's the one who landed the worlds first Quad 1980.
All those spins, but the best jump was that switch method!
Haraoki got a 34 for that cab 18 tail that was stomped. Also real confused about Liam's scores after all the hype around "pullbacks" all weekend. Hmm. These guys threw down. Fun to watch. Taiga's interview was epic. Kid is an animal. Just like an early Yuto interview.

I feel that there is so much territory that hasn’t been explored in terms of what tricks could be done. I think part of the problem is definitely the judging. The snowboarders most definitely are craving to be more creative id say, but when they try it they don’t get rewarded for it. The most spins and rotations is almost always winning first, and is consistently rewarded well. Rewarding creativity and originality will bring a love and energy that i think will change the game completely.
The people want it. This problem is talked about more than the actual big air contest.
Literally how do they count the rotations in real time? Is there a special camera that captures the rotations or?? Like the announcer just says it right after it’s landed. How they do that?
Is spinning like mad all we gonna see in the near and far future?..i feel like im the only one that kind of tuned out from the x games because every year its the same thing . I dont mean to be a downer it is impressive no doubt landing the 1980’s so perfect,im just more old school i guess
Truth. Especially since they dont have half the events they use to. The hype isn't even there with the crowd anymore. Summer X still does it well, but winter has taken a huge hit.
@@drewblake6304 ya,they need ice climbing and the ski and snowboard racing. Now its all the mainstream disciplines. Who would of thought that 20 years that x games would hold mainstream

It's crazy that judges left room open on the scoring for any 48's-50's cause they know 2160's are possible.
afaik the max score for tech runs was 45 each, making the sum of all 3 runs counted 100.
@makoko6812 They take your best two run scores for Big Air and the max you can get is a 50 on each run.
@@seanc4486 Its been like that the last few years. This year the changed the format. 3 runs, one of them being the style-run that gives max 10 points, are taken into the final score. The max possible score is still 100 points. So you can earn a max of 10 points for your style jump an 45 each for your best two tech runs in the jam session.

This season has been a sleeper. No more snowmobiles, no xcross racing, no bikes, no adrenaline. And this season, horrible light placement around the big air. As athletes come off the jumps you see nothing but glare. Bad.
